    Thunder Hammer

holy crap! that's an amazing job! And I agree with orguss01, this is the first time I've been truly jealous. Congrats man, that's like finding the holy grail.
  3. ah, I love it! Even if it is pricey, I'd rather have 1 really awesome representation of the ride armor than a gallery of "meh". No offense to those that like the current offerings.
  4. yeah, I'm quickly losing interest in this. too many new things to get and paying up the nose for some weathering doesn't seem so important now.
  5. sharpies don't look black on plastic though.. it's kind of a dark purple.
  6. Nice, i used to do the same thing at work. I'd have themes, like sentient robots versus non sentient.
  7. I actually believe that most people can't tell the difference unless they're actively looking for it. Most people do image/pattern recognition based on the outline of shapes and not based on the interior details/light/color. Some people do just because and other people do because they were trained to look at that stuff (artists, designers, etc). You see this a lot with aspiring artists, they tend to draw the outline of objects and then "fill in" the details. I'm guess this is what goes on for the majority of viewers, they see the outlines of shapes and people and they recognize what they are... they're not looking for the other stuff so they simply don't notice it.
  8. hahaha, I love the sniper rifle shield ricochet attack.
  9. that's the DRC that VT 1010 was talking about. Most setups have this feature, not just the PS3.
  10. yup, what Gaijin said. Some of the newer discs with HD/uncompressed audio tracks are a lot better about properly balancing the dialogue to the center channel, but it still pays to fiddle with your particular audio settings and manually adjust the balance levels between the center channel and the front speakers.
  11. are there any 2.0 BD discs out there to play with?
  12. Looks more like hikaru is using your beer can as a squat and poop to me.

    Macross Revoltech

okay, i was wrong... the regult looks amazing and it's so expressive the way revoltech has it done up.
  14. I'm so glad I waited for the beagle. it looks fantastic!

  17. don't get him started...
  18. sweet. my next fanboy dream. software DTS HD support.
  19. wait, what happens in 2 weeks?
  20. there's a difference between a story with a message, and a message with a story wrapped around it. Monoke Hime has a strong ecological message, but it stands on its own merits. Happy Feet, on the other hand, is a story designed to tell a message. Dune has a rich political and religious story besides the ecological message, I would be very disapointed if the film makers ignored or truncated those ideas in order to highlight the environmental message. I would actually like to see Dune broken up into three seperate movies. The first movie would be more politically focused on the intrigues of the Great Houses and ending with the fall of House Artredies and with Paul and Jessica being accepted into the Fremens. The second movie could deal more with the religious themes and end with Paul taking the Water of Life and slipping into a coma. And the third movie would be a big, battle crazy culmination with the fall of House Harkonnen. I really think the book is just way too big and has too many diverse themes to really fit comfortably into a single 2 hour movie.
  21. I hope Amazon follows suit.
  22. oh, I agree... some of the episodes were amazing. I won't argue that Serenity/Firefly has more of an impact than star wars, I just think it's a better movie.
  23. The show really didn't get a chance to delve too deeply into the reavers. From what we saw: The reavers raid the outlying colonies Survivors of reaver attacks have a chance of becoming reavers themselves, from the trauma of witnessing and surviving the attack, apparantly. As for why the Alliance doesn't take them out... not explored, but my guess would be the reavers serve as the boogeymen that the Alliance. In a, "sure we may be bad, but look at the alternative..." kinda way.
  24. better writing, better acting, better directing, no whining farm boys talking about killing rats. Yeah, I'll stick with Serenity.
  25. ah, what a sad loss. He was truly a visionary.
