Roslin's always been a class 11 bitch, it's just that usually she's the protagonist and in the right. -

yeah, it's not a big deal for me. I had just said so many negative things about the d-stance compared to the yamato, I thought I would throw in the one thing I do like about it (relatively). -

yeah, okay... it is there but I think my point still stands. The d-stance mimics that angle a lot better than the yamato does. -

look at the outside line of the lower leg, it flares down. Now look at the d-stance, the ankle/lower leg angles forward mimicking that flare. Now look at the yamato yf-21, it drops straight down, does not mimick the flare: -

same here. At this point, I don't care if they do build that beta, I'm not buying it. If I want an over priced mechs that fall apart for no reason, I'll buy a yamato, thank you very much.

I do like how the lower calf/ankle of the D-stance is at a slightly different angle than the rest of the leg, i.e. it doesn't go straight down. It reinforces the q-rau heritage, imo. -

thanks for posting a pic of the d-stance, makes me even happier that yamato made their own. The clown feet, the wonky head cowl, the odd fold of the main wings... all these things stand out now so clearly. -
1/60 perfect transforming vf-1 from yamato?

yeah, there was some change, the bush admin made a lot of noise about the yuan and china reformed it a little but for all intents, it's still pegged. If you compare the yuan/dollar to the yen or the euro you'll see much more fluctuation. Which makes it more interesting right? Because we're paying dollars to yen but yamato is paying yen to yuan. And the dollar isn't doing very well against the yen at the moment.. well, since reagan actually. As for oil, there's a lot of talk that a lot of the bush sabre rattling on iran is because they've threatened to go with the Euro for their oil. -

oil trades in dollars and the yuan is pegged to the dollar. -
from the wiki article on the demon: Boll continues to find investors who wish to acquire the rights for future video-game-to-movie adaptations. His investors are mostly German. He acquires the rights for potential future adaptations, then does all the production himself, and completes the finished product. Movies directed by Boll have performed modestly to poorly at the box office in the United States. House of the Dead (budget: $12 million) broke $5.73 million on opening weekend,[4] Alone in the Dark (budget: $20 million) made over $5.1 million,[5] and BloodRayne (budget: $25 million) topped $2.42 million.[6] In the DVD commentary of Alone in the Dark, Boll explains how he funds his films: "Maybe you know it but it's not so easy to finance movies in total. And the reason I am able to do these kind of movies is I have a tax shelter fund in Germany, and if you invest in a movie in Germany you get basically fifty percent back from the Government." Boll is able to acquire funding thanks to German tax laws that reward investments in film. The law allows investors in German-owned films to write off 100% of their investment as a tax deduction; it also allows them to invest borrowed money and write off any fees associated with the loan. The investor is then only required to pay taxes on the profits made by the movie; if the movie loses money, the investor gets a tax writeoff. While Boll has received a lot of negative publicity regarding this funding method,[7] he was actually one of the few directors to use the tax shelter as intended. His films were financed, produced, and directed by a German company, which was the initial intention behind the tax shelter: to provide incentive for investment in German entertainment properties. Regardless of the law's intention, most of these German film funds ended up funneling money to American studios to finance American blockbusters. The law merely required that the movie's copyright be owned by a German company; thus studios would "sell" a movie's rights to a German company, then immediately lease the movie back for a small fee, while the German owners would agree to very limited control. Essentially, the German company would own the movie on paper, but have no say over its production. Because of this, in January 2006, as had been expected for several months, the German legislature changed the country's tax laws to eliminate the tax shelter. It is not known if this will have any effect on Boll's funding as the new laws only seek to punish investors who are abusing the law for tax purposes; Boll's activities appear to be well within the legitimate usage of the tax shelter.

Well, considering oil costs four times as much today as it did in the year 2000 (average price per: http://www.cnie.org/nle/crsreports/energy/eng-73.pdf) I don't think you should discount the effect that's having on plastic toys so easily. -

I'm hoping for a new transfer as well. It's decent enough for the most part but the scenes on the mule against the blue sky look pretty horrible. Mal's face looks like a coloring book what with that heavy black outline. -

Come on, I'm sure to Yamato, these prices are very fair... considering their last two releases were in the 200 dollar range... and how craptacular the dollar is and how insane oil prices are. Not saying I agree with them, I'm just saying... these are guys that charge nearly a hundred bucks for the less then stellar (or detailed) q-rau... why would a new valk come in cheaper? -

Good timing, there's talk of finally giving PS3 owners software DTS-HD MA decoding. And since Fox seems hell bent on supporting this format, I'm relieved to know I'll be able to hear Firefly in lossless goodness. DTS-MA HD confirmed for PS3! -

there's nothing wrong in about not liking something because it's not good.. but not liking something even though it is good but because it wasn't 100% accurate to the book or comic or TV show, or whatever, that's something else.

I get what you're saying but I think the author made it pretty clear she was speaking of people who refuse to see the larger work because they're nitpicking stuff. Like her Pirates of the Carribean example, PotC may have been a bad movie but not because they were using rapiers from the wrong decade. I hear gun enthusiasts say stuff like this as well, "oh he fired a something something but the sound effect was CLEARLY a something else." And deride the whole movie as a result... unless the movie was a training video for the use of that particular firearm, who the frak cares?
