  1. there's no widespread: all gods are actually visiting jedi or anything like that. Aliens only pertain to the crystal skulls.
  2. I don't mind the crapping on yamato, as long as it's based on something tangible and fair. To me, fair is not taking an isolated incident and trying to turn it into a catastrophe. Nor do I appreciate being attacked personally because my tolerance for yamato products happens to be greater than some others.
  3. thanks for the clearer pictures... I can't believe I'm going to say this, because I think the 1/72 models look like crap... but they got the DX beat HANDS DOWN at this point. Shoulders are too small, chest is too big, the cod piece is just plain wrong, the head looks squashed, fore arms are too long... fighter mode looks chunky, so chunky, I thought I was looking at a transformer. And I really hope that ugly expose hinge they have for the canopy is just a mock up for the prototype... cuz' having two big tabs sticking up on the side of the fuselage is just ugly as sin and lazy. Feh, I can always fix a busted arm on a yamato or a crooked gunpod, much harder to fix a fugly sculpt. I didn't think Bandai would bring their A game to the table, but even I'm disapointed. And I can't believe the Bandaides who were so bitter about the proportions on the 1/48 are giving this turd a free pass.
  4. just got back from the midnight showing at the Castro in SF. Didn't particularly care for the ending but all in all, a great deal of fun and some wonderful, over the top action sequences.
  5. True, but the 1/60 ver 2 has it's own problems. You're just mad that people like the 1/48
  6. Actually... I disagree, I think robocop is the perfect movie to remake in the current political climate. Besides the violence and sci-fi goodness, robocop succeeded because it was a scathing critique on a certain president and the political climate of the day. If the new robocop continues that tradition and ignores the sequel's attempts to kiddifie the franchise then I think there's some real potential there.
  7. your hikaru shrine is awesome. I love collections like this that have a wide range of toys but all of the same character.
  8. Opinions are like a$$holes, some people's get more love than others....
  9. how about, opinions are like a$$holes, no one really thinks about theirs unless it starts to hurt.
  10. actually, that whole megatron joke was a play (or a swipe) on the whole, "all our modern technology has been reverse engineered from the alien crash at roswell" theory.
  11. http://ga.sbcr.jp/mreport/009935/08.html To me, it looks like there's a hinge there in the space between the shin and the calf armor.
  12. I think the side of the leg lifts up and the fin flips down and against the leg.
  13. and yet, there's an option for measuring ambivalence, right there in the poll, so it is measurable.
  14. If you think I need good eyes to judge the DX, you must be blind to not notice they got the entire hip/crotch area just plain wrong.
  15. sure it is, I'm ambivalent about my vf-0... I love the way it looks but I hate the way it falls apart. See?
  16. that's not true. ambivalence is a very real state of mind.
  17. yup, and I go and look at the pics of the 1/72 and the promo shots of the DX and I was right, they look like poo.
  18. Sure some of the complaints go too far... sometimes it feels like we're just going re-doing the same coversation over and over again, but yamato really has fraked up a lot and their apparant inability to release a toy without some flaw(s) (sometimes minor and sometimes MAJOR) really turns a lot of people off.
  19. Just off the top of my head. the arm joints are all friction joints, so they can barely hold a pose. the arm has little pop up missile launchers that only 1/3rd open The hips weren't designed right so the legs don't lock against the body properly in shuttle mode. It's not just a matter of the leg being a little loose, there's a big gap between leg/wing and the body. And because the legs don't lock in properly, there's a big hole in the side of the valk that goes clear through... the hole would have been covered by the legs, if they made the hip joint right. The head covering doesn't really lock out properly in shuttle or gerwalk mode. The nose cone doesn't stow properly in gerwalk mode. The nose cone doesn't really lock properly in shuttle mode. The nose cone doesn't really stow properly in battroid mode. The legs in gerwalk don't really lock in place, the whole thing basically collapses in on itself, so almost zero posability in gerwalk mode. The legs lock stiff in Battroid mode.. you can fiddle with them to give them some semblance of knees... so almost zero posability in battroid mode.
  20. I'd buy a bandai vb-6, couldn't possibly be worse than the yamato.
  21. and they each play some codecs the other doesnt
  22. the previous update included that feature
  23. Well, my ire is compounded by the fact that we're in the process of buying a house and I don't know when the deal will go through (or if) since it's a short sale and we're waiting for the lenders approval. The last thing I want is for them to ship the TV without telling me and it ending up at the doorstep of someone not me. I understand that schedules shift and what not... lord knows, i worked for a place where we imported hand made german pumps and that schedule was constantly shipping.. I'm frustrated that I wasn't notified when all it would have taken was an email.
  24. Wow... samsung's customer support sucks. So my tv, an ln-t4665F started having problems resolving the right border of the screen. It took me 2 seperate calls to arrange for a service technician to come out and fix the issue. And the service took two tries. The first time they didn't bring the right part and the second time, they replaced the whole screen. Now, I have a new problem, the NEW screen has a brown line of dead pixels running from top to bottom down the middle of the screen. The service company didnt' want to service the TV again so I had to wait nearly 2 weeks while they submitted an exchange request to Samsung. At the end of last month, I was told that they didn't have my model in stock and they were going to replace it with this year's model ln-46a550. Great, new TV, better specs ... I was miffed this new TV cost about 800 bucks less than what I paid for mine last year and I asked samsung to give me an equivalently PRICED tv.. no go, but that was fine, I was still getting a new TV. The exchange department told me 2-3 weeks on April 30th... so here we are, 3 weeks later, I call back trying to find out where my TV is... oh, now I get to wait till June 6th for them to even have it in stock. So I asked the guy why I wasn't told of the scheduling change... and he tells me, "well, we're really busy."
