  1. I've laughed at lots of ben stiller movies... laughed at... not so much with, or because of... but at. But I agree, this looks good.
  2. It's even more hilarious because in Adam Sandler and lot movies, they're actually making fun of "retards" yet Tropic of Thunder is making fun of the people who make fun of "retards". So to choose this movie to picket, that's kinda retarded.
  3. And yet we already have one guy here who admitted he fraked with the poll because he felt like it. I think it's not unreasonable to ask people who are claiming that their toy is DOA to provide proof. We've seen in the past that with the garland and the vf-0 that photo proof can be presented to yamato as proof and to help give us speedy fixes. It also benefits members so that we know what potential problem areas to look out for.
  4. For me, it's all about making Rin believable and sympathetic... I thought the anime has sofar failed completely in that regard. some of it has to do with not really showing the violence done to her family.
  5. I wonder if Graham has had a chance to talk about the shoulder with yamato yet... Still can't get a feel if this is a widespread problem or if it's just a few cases but if we start getting some more verifiable reports (pictures) then I may hold off on any future purchases of this line until there's a fix from yamato.
  6. the definitive technology pro monitor 1000 series works well for a small speaker setup. Bose, around 20 years ago was one thing, but their current stuff sucks ass. All high andoverly bright, no midrange worth talking about and underperforming subs.
  7. what if the other guy is better at gun kata than you? Or what if you're both equally good and run out of bullets, then you need to fight with your swords! Anyways, thanks for the advice transfan but I don't think my three year old needs a gun.
  8. Wow, I thought I was looking at the instructions for the toynami MPC for a while there.
  9. tai chi isn't really just for old people, it's just a soft form and people go through, what I suppose could be called a kata, in slow motion which is in keeping with the idea of not meeting strength with strength. Tai chi can be devestatingly fast and deadly if that's your focus. I remember my friend and I made our own bow and arrows and we were shooting them off in a field, his grandfather, who practiced tai chi, wandered out into where we shooting and would pluck the arrows out of the air while he was doing his forms... he would just time his movements to intercept the arrows. From the outside it looked like we timed practiced the moves together (us and the grandfather) but we were shooting the arrows randomly and he was just awesome.
  10. ah, okay, thanks for the honest advice. I'll keep you posted if I find a school/style like that.
  11. oh.. yeah, I have zero interest in that type of politics. I was thinking more along the lines of stylistic or philosophical differences... say like the differences between Japanese and Okinawan forms, or schools that emphasize the "roots" or schools that are more competitive/sports oriented. I would be more interested in having my son study in a less competitive school that had more of an emphasis on the personal/spiritual side of martial arts. Nothing wrong with the sports side, but I don't think that would fit well with my son's temperment.
  12. cool, thanks. Does taekwondo have as many styles/schools as karate? If so, any specific style or school that you like?
  13. any advice for a style for young kids?
  14. Big ship to ship combat only exists as long as the weapons are weaker than the defensive system/armor. In sci-fi, like SW and ST, big ships always have some sort of energy shield that can deflect weapons. If we're talking hard science fiction, that sort of technology is really really far fetched. While it's possible to create plasma screens or windows to keep out stuff like gasses, they're hardly effective against anything with more mass, or against directed energy fire. Once technology gets to the point where an effective weapons system is able to easily or economically penetrate armor... then warfare would quickly shift to sending waves of small, cheap and effective craft at each other until you're able to achieve your objectives.
  15. maybe a ver. 2 1/60 two seater thread?
  16. that's sad to see misterryno, don't sell off your hikaru shrine!
  17. Mav, you should start a diorama pictures only thread... those shots are amazing.
  18. I have the 25th anniversary model. Mine has much stiffer joints overall compared to my 1st edition yf-19... but then my first edition doesn't have wonky hips like you're describing either.
  19. he's pretty good in Letters From Iwo Jima, if you haven't seen it already. and fat and watanbe don't look anything alike.
  20. true, stuck with them, but I'm not that impressed by the show, i'll probably stop watching it if it doesn't get better real quick. meh story + awful looking encodes = drop.
  21. I like em, but no where near as excited I was when the 1/48 was first announced. I'll be picking and choosing through this line, no thoughts of getting the complete line.
  22. gonna get the FP version... and maybe another without for the eventual GBP armor pack.
  23. Just call it the Jason Bourne rule, if you're important to the rest of the movie, it doesn't matter how many times your car gets hit, or how bad of a wreck you're in... you'll live and walk away.
  24. hahaha... I would come home and find my dog doing that to my (then) GF's bunny slippers...
  25. Just think of this as the Gundam of samurai anime. Really? I hate them, The subbing seems decent but their releases are so heavily filtered, I feel likeI'm watching a VHS tape.
