  1. Wasn't there supposed to be a "final cut" re-edit of kill bill?
  2. Thanks for the quick review. I guess I'll pick it up when it goes on sale
  3. fuselage needs to be hollow for the shoulder to swing out.
  4. it's just a mock up.
  5. I thought the demo was just okay. It just felt way too much like a technology demo, the gameplay mechanics just didn't feel that polished to me.
  6. looks like legend of galactic heroes SE.
  7. wireless power: http://www.engadget.com/2008/08/21/intel-d...villagers-terr/
  8. And kawamori's line art for the various modes have plenty of tweaking for each mode. You can't look at the line art for the yf-21 and be a reasonable person and think that the fighter mode is even remotely possible given what the battroid mode looks like, for instance. And you're missing my point entirely, you're comparing a hand drawn and animated figure versus a CG figure. You can post all the conjecture you want on the why, but the DX does not look like the anime. When the first resin pictures were posted I said the proportions were off and I was told I had no idea what I was talking about and that the Bandai would produce something both slavishly faithful and sturdy... well, we're weeks away from the release date and those same proportion issues have not been resolved. The only major improvement over the first batch of shots and the current batch is that the canopy hinge has been hidden. The hips are still in the wrong place, the crotch is still way too big, and the entire upperbody is still wrong. So, daivd's interpretation of a machine translated article gives you an idea of the build quality of a product that we haven't even seen a final material version of? It probably wil be built like a brick, it certainly looks like one.
  9. true. it's like all the fire and passion have gone from this site. Of course, now that we have started discussing the manner in which we are discussing the discussion instead of the discussion itself, it seems a pretty good indication that this thread is fast approaching its predestined death. Quick, somebody say something relevent!
  10. well, I figured this thread was being watched, since this discussion has never ended well... so that's why I was asking.
  11. oh. sometimes it's hard to decipher mod speak.
  12. Why is it wrong to talk about the worst examples of dubbing in a discussion about subbing and dubbing?
  13. The difference is that the 21 and 19 were hand animated and the animators freely distorted the proportions for each mode. The SV-51 and the VF-25 have CG models... one company produced a toy that was very faithful to what we saw on screen and another company is producing a toy that only resembles it's anime counterpart. And you have no idea if the Dx is sturdy or not.
  14. bleh, posted a rant, thought better of it.
  15. Escaflowne on fox also did some creative editing... when I saw it on Fox I thought it was a crap show, it wasn't until I saw the original Japanese edit that I realized how good it was.
  16. heh, I guess is because whenever i see Llloyd, he's ALWAYS Doc from BTTF.
  17. but Freeze isn't manic or easily excitable... his whole shtick is that in the face of tragedy, he turned his back on his humanity in order to save his wife, where bruce turned his back on his humanity in order to honor and avenge his parents, and serve humanity. Patrick Stewart could nail that sort of calm, detachment and he's also capable of expressing sheer rage and frustration.
  18. yeah, something that size would demand 100% ratchet joints. The 1/100 konig is a floppy mess as it is.
  19. well, sure. Naruto is hardly going to become deep and profound because some japanese person is yelling "something something ninja attack" versus some american soccer mom yelling "something something ninja attack". But then again, Amélie is hardly deep or profound. It was a light fluff movie that had a cute gimmick, some nice photography and a fresh face. I'm just saying that studio executives have certain assumptions on what consumers want and expect from films and media from europe versus film and media from Asia.
  20. well, because the whole point of a transforming toy is that you get to transform it.
  21. no, of course not all anime is art, but surely you can agree that when studio ghibli releases a film it ranks a little bit higher on the art food chain than alvin and the chipmunks. And yet disney would have released the the US DVD without a japanese language audio track if a bunch of thirty something single fat guys didn't throw a poo party.
  22. While I agree with your arguement, it always struck me as a but odd, I mean, no one would suggest that a french film would have to be released in the US with a voice over. I mean, people would riot if Amélie had been released with I dunno, jessica alba doing a voice over for Audrey Tautou...
  23. can't find stats on battroid mode, but the shuttle mode should be around 1.6 ft in 1/60 scale. I'm sure someone can figure it out by measuring the 1/100 konig toy (mine is boxed up at the moment and I'm not interested enough to unbox and transform that floppy POS)
  24. hahaha, it would be awesome but I think too large to easily transform.
  25. Subs for me as well.
