oh that's cool, I wonder how it will work but if it means I get to play the game casually than I'm all for it.

Just because sony says the PS3 will have a 10 year life span doesn't mean they won't have a PS4 to compete with the next offerings from MS and Nintendo. It just means that Sony will continue to support it like they're doing with the PS2.

what if we make it a happy magical place where people use happy thoughts to only pose their maimed toys in creative ways? you know though... the various yamato-hate threads have all died from apathy, or because the majority of people here actually like their yamato toys.
-
oh. not nearly as fun.
-
A new thread? Like: Post your dismembered and maimed Yamatos here? thread?

meh, what seems unreasonable to you may seem perfectly reasonable to someone else. For instance, when the hikaru VF-1s was announced there was BITTER emo filled rants posted here about how yamato was ripping us off and how they should have included the 1s head with the original hikaru 1a release. Other people took it further and demanded that any single vf-1 should include every head variant. As for the weather variants, they weren't sold by yamato for 500 bucks, it was the grey market that set that price via ebay and other auction sites. Yamato released a limited edition weather variant and PEOPLE decided it was worth 500 bucks, not yamato. Perhaps you should direct your anger towards other collectors?

yeah, the bonus features do suck ass, but I'm more disappointed by the edging.... why why why do people still use edging?

I think Sony was playing a game of chicken with microsoft and MS blinked first. Sony wants to maintain that the PS3 is a high end good and getting into a race to see who hits rock bottom first kinda hurts the brand image they've been working so hard to create. The probably didn't count on world economy bottoming out though.
-
It really depends on your political and economic views. If you think companies exist to provide you with low cost goodies, then yes, yamato is greedy. If you think companies exist to make themselves and their shareholders money, than no, they're not too greedy. If you believe in the free market, then there's no such thing as too greedy unless they drive themselves out of business which yamato doesn't seem to be in any danger of.

yeah, no more gunmetal units. That one came out a little over a month after I bought mine... I was bummed. but i love my PS3, almost entirely for blu-ray though. I have to say I've logged more hours playing pixel junk's Monsters than MGS4.

Sony's been saying no but I think we'll see a spring time price cut.

seriously guys, just try to remember high school chemistry and go read the wiki page on hydrogen peroxide. While hydrogen peroxide is the fuel in rocket packs, this isn't rocket science.
-
oxyclean, hydrogen peroxide, bleach, they all work the same way, they have an unstable molecule that wants to shed itself an oxygen molecule. Plastics are made up of long chains of hydrogen and carbon. Carbon wants to pick up an oxygen molecule but in doing so it pops off from the hydrogen chain... so basically the layer of plastic exposed to the solution will dissolve and if you eat away enough you get down to virgin un-yellowed plastic. Since yellowing is basically the discoloration of the dye mixed in with plastic, there's no way to undo damage done to it, since it's a chemical process.

it used to be around 110 yen to a dollar, now it's 92ish to a dollar. The tanking economy caused the prices to go up (relatively).
-
Oh that's fine... I just wanted to clear up any doubts as to whether this was bleaching or some sort of magical restoration of the dyes in the plastic to their original state.
-
but aside from MGS4, PS3 exclusives don't hold a candle to the 360 and wii exclusives. Fable 2 sold nearly 3x the number of units that LBP sold despite LBP getting WAY more press and commercial time.

We like to break up our usual vitriol and rhetoric with a little light hearted fun every now and then. -
yeah, sorry guys, this is really just a variation on bleaching plastic. It's much more mild and not as likely to turn your plastic into soup but it's still just bleaching.
-
No, hydrogen peroxide is a strong oxidizing agent... one of the strongest, it's bleaching the plastic. H202 wants to break down into Water and Oxygen... it doesn't want to absorb oxygen About the keyboard, not really. since the acid is working on all surfaces equally the fine texture on the keyboard would be reduced equally but not necessarily to the point where the texture is worn off... remember this is a relatively mild concentration of a relatively mild acid.
-
1. a weak acid, but yes an acid. 2. pretty much, it's bleaching the surface, The free oxygen molecule is bonding to the carbon in the plastic, breaking it off from the rest of the chain. Basically chewing off the first visible layer of plastic. 3. I don't know about shrinking but if the H2O2 is breaking down some of the anti UV chemicals mixed in with the plastic, then yes, it will now yellow at a faster rate than before. The H2O2 may have also left the surface of the plastic pock marked with microscopic pits from the process, all this increased surface area will help the natural oxidation process along... more yellowing. 4. It really depends on the particular chemistry of the plastic but it's a possibility, sure.

Most people don't look at the PS3 that way... I bet most people are like me and think of it as a kick ass blu-ray player with a built in gaming console.
-
yeah, because it wasn't crazed shoppers that killed a guy to score a deal at wal-mart... oh wait.

This coming from someone who writes "spiderman" instead of the correct "Spider-Man"... I mean, what do you know? If you had watched the great youtube video chronicle: Robotech and how it saved western civilisation, you would know that that the "chinese factory" story was one that was fabricated by crazed japanese cartoon fans who tried to derail the great robotech sequel Sentinels in order to push their own crappy sequel: Marcos Plus, which itself was just a crappy remake of the greatest american action movie of all time, Top Gun.
