  1. The "missing link" crap is completely bogus. There are tons of intermediate fossils labeled as "homo archaic" that run the spectrum from looking amazing homo sapien and looking more like a form of Australopithecus. There ARE intermediate forms, it's clear as day if any of those nut jobs ever bothered to do more research than open up a pamphlet geared for 7th graders. Also, for anyone who cares, do some research on human blood types (ABO) and the occurrence of those blood types in the great apes. It's pretty interesting stuff and it also pretty clearly indicates our common ancestry. And for a real kick, there's scientists working today to unlock remnant dino DNA in birds to restore things like long tails and teeth. It's just reeks of the giant spaghetti monster to look for some sort of outside influence in evolution when the mechanics we understand today go so far to explain the process.
  2. should work, the sunlight isn't anything magical it has a known effect on hydrogen peroxide... which is why h2o2 is sold in dark brown plastic bottles and not clear glass bottles like other acids.
  3. so the sunlight helps the H202 break apart to H20 and 0, the bubbles you're seeing are the newly freed oxygen molecules. leaving bits in a weak solution longer is not the same thing as using a stronger solution. The weaker solution will be broken down into water + oxygen faster (since you have less H202 to begin with and in the presence of a catalyst and with light breaking the bonds). So, the richer the concentration, the more bleaching effect you'll get.
  4. it'll be have to be AMAZING extras to get me to double dip.
  5. Yes, thats true in general. The problem occurs when people with limited to no education decide that science is wrong and go off with stupid hare brained theories like the moon landing was faked because humans couldn't survive the trip through the van allen belt when Dr. Van Allen himself said that the idea was a load of crap. And I do agree that a lot of people have just replaced religion for science and they treat current theories like religious dogma...
  6. history was hardly rewritten with the discovery of homo hobbitus, in fact it further supports the current theory of human evolution.
  7. Oh, tampopo is a lot of fun as well. There's so many great moments in Linda Linda Linda and I love all the cliched moments and how Nobuhiro Yamashita handles them. The moments of handling the cultural differences between Son and the various Japanese students were handled really well.
  8. the pyramid thing makes me laugh the most cuz there's a CLEAR evolution of the form right there in the desert.
  9. I too preferred the movie adaptation of fight club over the book. The book gives it away at the beginning... boo. The movie High Fidelity is also better, imo... the other Nick Hornby adaptations pale compare to the books though.
  10. netflix is a surprisingly good resource for foreign films
  11. if you read the whole interview it's actually an interesting idea. Ripley is a kind of methuselah and lazarus all rolled into one. The idea would be to explore those aspects and I think ripley is an interesting enough character to explore on her own without her having to run away from aliens.
  12. Wong Kar Wai.... many of my friends love him and eagerly await his movies like pearls of wisdom from their cinema guru... I can't stand his movies. *shrug*
  13. I choose basic chemistry (confirmed by my materials engineer wife who specializes in thin film engineering) over low res pictures done by some guys as a kitchen table science experiment.
  14. like waste forty hours of your life washing dishes only to be killed by the wandering butterfly? I can't believe people want more galaxies. blegh.
  15. they're like mini 1/48's with some new refinements like double jointed elbows
  16. The revenge trilogy is Park Chan-Wook's most well known works: sympathy for mr vengeance old boy lady vengeance They're brutal and violent but they're also great character studies on themes of revenge and redemption.
  17. yes and kind of.
  18. oh, that's a great movie! add: "Taste of Tea" and "what time is it there" What time is it there is a bit weird but I love it.
  19. Yeah, the revenge trilogy should be on anyone "to see" list.
  20. I enjoy slice of life movies. Just finished watching Linda Linda Linda (Japanese), high school comedy about an a all girl rock band who loses a member and takes on a korean foreign exchange student as the vocalist.
  21. My guess is there will be "tariffs" for entry into certain worlds/areas... to be paid in real money and not so much buying the purple lightsaber crystal.
  22. Yeah, I'd wander back over that thin sheet of ice that is the VF-0 for a B and D variant.
  23. if only yamato was a korean company... my god the Won sucks right now.
  24. similar to what I thought of eureka 7... "sky surfing robots? lame" boy was I wrong. anyways, I like basketball and robots! Plus the production quality looks great and I dig the music.
