Terminator Salvation, colon, Really Long Movie Title
eugimon replied to bsu legato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I agree No, the whole franchise is built around the idea of ordinary people taking an active role in their lives and creating for themselves the future they desire instead of living their lives half asleep and thinking of themselves as powerless. The future war is the dramatic conceit that makes it interesting and time travel is the plot device to make it happen. The way time travel is explained in the terminator universe (with even less ado than in the ST universe with their silly star slingshots) it might as well be magic. There's a few rules and no explanation at all of the actual science and mechanics. -
awesome work. The perfect paint job for this bird. Hopefully yamato makes a version and gives you your due.

Terminator Salvation, colon, Really Long Movie Title

well, continuity in time travel is only an issue if you're working with special relativity. But since in the terminator universe time travel to a point in the past before the time travel machine was invented is possible, it's fair to assume that special relativity isn't in play and some variation of quantum physics is at work. Each time someone or something goes back in time it splits off a new future with changes. So really, there's no point in getting worked up that the future we see isn't the same as the future in the first terminator film because that was kinda the whole point. And the terminator stories have never been about time travel... time travel is a plot device here, not the focus. Not saying that you, Taksraven, said it was about time travel, just that it seems like we're getting hung up on the minutia of time travel needlessly. -

and again, john says, right in the beginning of the trailer, "this isn't the future that my mother warned me about" This isn't a case of the producers not being faithful to the past, it's a case of fans not getting this isn't a direct continuation of the story told in terminator or even terminator 2, 3 or the TV series. And every terminator project from T2 on has either implied or explicitly stated that the specifics surrounding judgment day and the war itself gets CHANGED each time someone goes back into the past. The TV show explicitly states there are multiple futures where certain events either happened or didn't happen. Why is it so hard to just accept that maybe in this particular future, plasma weapons either don't exist, or aren't common? -
Yamato 1/60 VF-11b under development
eugimon replied to Shaggydog's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
maybe the sales on the other valks aren't high enough for yamato to risk issuing non canon repaints? I'd definitely pick up repaints of the yf-21 though... if there's any yamato reps reading this -
thanks for the heads up. I guess I'll wait to see how this plays out before I get a copy.

New macross saga based movie (Robotech Genesis)
eugimon replied to kamikaze_kamujin's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
this may be the only time when I'll actually defend the Freedom... but come on, the freedom doesn't look THAT BAD! -
yup, the scrunched up pilot figure in the 1/60 vf-1 ver 2 really kills it for me. The 1/60 yf-19 used to be the most annoying for me with isamu in his sumo suit but the new 1/60 vf-1 really takes the cake. Suppose it could be worse though... there's always the little blob in the MP seekers and the purple blob in the DX vf-25. <shrug>

I'm not arguing that this movie is anything other than a paycheck but I don't really see how the appearance of plasma weapons proves or disproves anything about the producers or the rest of the movie. -

that would be a good point if the trailer didn't make it clear that t4 wasn't following the continuity set in either terminator or terminator 2 and since the TV show and terminator 3 similarly divorced themselves from the first two terminator films, there's little point in looking to them for continuity either. -

Official Bandai 1/60 Scale DX Toy Thread Ver.3
eugimon replied to Graham's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
ah. I missed that one. but still, I don't think minor differences in size is anything we need to get worked up over. compromises need to be made for the transformation sequence and a cm or two is hardly a big deal, imo. -

that stacking pic from 5 days ago? anyways, helps to have the math right before we started complaining about minor differences in scale. -

compendium lists the yf-19 as 18.62m in fighter. 18.62m / 60 = 31cm not 20.40. seems pretty close to me. anyways, even if the yamato yf-19 is the wrong scale what does that have to do with the bandai vf-25? completely different planes. -
that hanger bay diorama would be awesome especially if there's a way to incorporate the yamato stands into it... but I'm scared at how much yamato would charge for something like that.

if chinese factories are willing to put plastic in milk to save a few bucks, imagine what sort of crap they put in plastic?

having a more secure way to affix the ghost would have helped greatly. -

they attach to the part of the dorsal tanks that are on the back plate and stay there. -
happy new years everyone! My resolution, less toys for me, more for the kid.

well, the bicep armor in the version 1 and in the replacement arms offered didn't have a screw, they were just glued together.

I think it was a bad formulation of POM. When I was cutting mine it didn't feel at all like ABS
-
that stuff is way too soft to be ABS

It started off as an interesting twist to what seems to be the only gundam story they want to tell but any promise was completely squandered by the middle of the season and the finale had to be one of the biggest cop outs in recent memory.

agreed.
