Yeah, i think we can all agree shin was a gifted fighter pilot, it was the GERWALk/BATTROID stuff he had problems with and he really never got enough time for us to say definitively if he wouldn't have eventually gotten there. Certainly by the end of Zero he was starting to grasp the full potentials of the VF system.

sometimes they give you free garlands, which is what I got when I asked for replacement shoulders... -

"big" is a description of size, "infinite" by definition is beyond size.

Yamato 1/60 VF-11b under development

for the most part, the people who liked it back when, like it now, our early excitement more fully realized. The people who didn't are still pointing out what they don't like. Nothings changed other than this thread had previously been mainly populated by the later. -
Macross Frontier and prior Macross mysteries
eugimon replied to Syngyne's topic in Movies and TV Series
all FTL is a manipulation of time and place. Nothing actually "moves" faster than light, well, at least not at this point in the universe, maybe before. -

So here's the thing about FTL that I've always scratched my head on it's always manipulating the 4th dimension. Wormholes go "through" the 4th and let us pop somewhere else in the 3rd and "warp" lets us use the 4th dimension to completely manipulate the 3rd and move it around the ship. So since FTL is fundamentally a manipulation of the 4th dimension, time travel must therefore also be possible once a viable an stable FTL drive is created, right? In fact, I would think the biggest navigational challenge in FTL is making sure you pop in the correct "when" and not so much in the correct "where". -

The computer and electronics super geek thread
eugimon replied to Dante74's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Hmmm... well, I think in this case it was just that the codecs weren't able to communicate properly to nvidia's HDMI audio drivers and I think the blame is with nvidia since with their drivers I couldn't even configure the speaker selection to anything other than stereo. so I think AC3/Media Player Classic couldn't verify 5.1 channels so it just down mixed to stereo. -

I'm not sure what you mean, how is the sound not compatible when there were at least two ways that the HDMI audio successfully delivered a DTS signal to the AVR? -

well, mkv seems to be the container of choice for HD content so yeah, I end up with a lot of mkv files. I figured it was a driver issue with nvidia as it seems like a lot of people have the "stereo only" issue with the various nforce chipsets. I dug up an older cheap ass sound card that had SPDIF out so all is working now. I think maybe an issue is that few companies are actively supporting PC's for use with home theater setups so fixing stuff like HDMI audio is just a low priority. I guess this will learn me not to buy one of these all-in-one motherboards again. -

yay, I think it looks great. can't wait! -
I tend to think people who want multiple variant heads with their valkyries are being unrealistic or even a bit greedy but in this case...

This is aggravating, I tried playing a DTS DVD and it works just fine. The AVR recognizes the source as DTS. but no combination of player and codec will get play an mkv correctly. -

It's vista premium. but when I do the "configure" it only has options for stereo speakers, the surround speaker option is greyed out. But that it tests fine for 5.1 DTS audio under "properties" is what's getting me. -
yeah, that's a great site. I love that for ringworld and dyson spheres its just "big".

pure awesome! Has to be one of the best anime AMVs I've ever seen.

The computer and electronics super geek thread
eugimon replied to Dante74's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Question guys. I have an asus p5n-em mobo which is a nforce 630i/geforce 7100 combo board. I'm running 32 bit vista sp1 and I have the audio going out through the HDMI port with the latest nvidia drivers. This is being routed to a sony str dg-910 avr. So, my problem is I can't seem to configure the speakers to anything other than stereo even though in the properties tab for the nvidia audio I can successfully test for DTS audio which the AVR will also successfully recognize as 5.1 DTS. And when I play an mkv file with DTS audio it only comes through as stereo even though in AC3filter the output is selected to 3/2 +LFE and the mixer shows all 6 channels. so... help? -
I'm in the same boat as you... luckily I have the 1/48 1a CF and I'm trying not to buy dupes so I'm happy to have this alternate CF scheme.
-
really? the 3000? It looks like a junkyard wars version of a VF-1... which I guess is kinda cool....
-
looks good. Just makes me appreciate the new 1/60 vf-1 all the more.

Normally I'd agree with you. But the middle east breaks with the more recent system of wealth generation in that the wealth is mostly created by a growing middle class with the accompanying increased standards of living for the majority of the population... since the wealth in most of the middle east is generated by a mono-economy where the controlling interest in their one industry and export are held by a few families and those rights passed down by inheritance, the vast majority of people in those countries do not benefit and have little to no chance in ever accumulating their own wealth. Even the construction jobs building those colossal monuments to America's dependence on oil are doled out to imported foreign workers while they themselves are placated with allowances and religion fueled xenophobic rhetoric. Of course, some countries in the region have broken from that model (mostly because they either already ran out of or never had appreciable deposits of oil).

yup. our money, in the biggest wealth redistribution in all of human history.
