got to watch it. Oshii seems to have reigned in his musings somewhat but I think it was still needless distracting. Animation was okay, weak for a theatrical but okay for an OAV or for a really well produced TV show. Aerial battle stuff was fun, the dog fights anyways, the larger battle got a little confusing I thought as to what the principle characters were doing and where. Lots of trademark Oshii stuff here, the dog, the music box, big unblinking grey eyes. If you're into Oshii, you'll like it, if you're not... well, it's more of the same, boring self indulgent musings punctuated by violence.

Imagine VFTF1's comments being translated, they're often nonsensical enought in english.

Making Mac II take place on some other planet with just some Macross sister ship messes up the final act where they both sides look at the Macross as some sort of ship of legend. Why would they think that SDF "Not Macross" was so terribly important, just as a diversion for the macross canon that comes in at the end? I'm not saying Mac II is a good story, but doing that weakens it even further, imo. It's fine for what it is.

That's where I think upgradability would help.. better guns, weapon loadout, drive mechanics. I mean, by the end of the game a pistol has more destructive power than the mako... And if the worlds themselves were more interesting with more encounters including a better variety of enemy vehicles....

I think ep 1 was slapped together or heavily influenced by the studio. Ep 2 felt much more like what I've come to expect from Whedon including more whedon-talk. I'm still not sold, but I'll give it a a few more tries.

I don't mind the mako, but I wish the worlds were better fleshed out both the actual towns/settlements as well as the spaces in between. Same with hunting for those relics. Instead of just a pop up, I'd like an actual encounter

I want an upgradeable mako.

I can't wait till this thing comes out and the modders have a chance to go at it load up the surface details, weather and paint it.

That's mean, Kakizaki probably couldn't even tell the difference. It's like yelling at a baby for making a mess in its diaper, it just doesn't know any better.

Why, he's bought 250 dollar toys, does that make him only half as immoral as someone who buys a 500 dollar toy? The whole argument is ridiculous beyond belief. If someone sees a need and works to fill it, great for them. But once they start criticizing people for things they themselves do... well...

You know full well just because I've achieved sanctimonious holier than thou moral clarity that I'm not going to do anything about it. Actually, my point, which I admit got buried under the melodrama, was that there will always be someone worse off than you and someone still worse off than that person. Unless a person is willing to divorce themselves of all worldly possessions until such a point where all people are equally poor and destitute I personally think all their pompous pretentious moralizing is just a bunch of holier than thou hand waving.
