It is trial production model and testbed for advanced jet engines and Overtechnology designed for future variable fighters. well, it's open to debate and we could get into discussion on some of the nuances of Japanese culture specifically the ideas of 'face' and 'social harmony' but I'm going to chose to accept what the article says at face value.

oh believe me, I take everything I read on CNN with a grain of salt the size of a cow lick. But as the point of the article is that an F-22 crashed and not a discourse on the budget issues around one, I'll let it pass.

True. And I'm not debating that. I'm just saying it clears up the speculation that the DX is more faithful to the lineart than the show or that it was based off of a more finalized design. It is what it is and that includes some necessary compromises. And again, if they just fix the leg positioning in fighter mode, and I'm a stickler for this because the nacelles are a prominent feature of the design which is one of the few differentiating features from the VF-1 in fighter mode, I'll live with the other compromises and happily plop down my money for one.

It actually validates my assertion that the DX looks the way it does out of necessary compromise due to the materials and not that it's the design Kawamori actually had in mind or wanted.

feh, my wife maintains that the yf-21, 19 and VF-1 look the same. yet she can still spot a new one on the shelf the second she walks in the room.

the funny thing is, with both firefly and dollhouse, it's their meddling that alienated audiences. fox forced whedon to write a new pilot at the last moment which gave the show two pilots and then they played the show out of order as well as playing duck duck goose with the schedule. dollhouse... ugh... those first few episodes were awful. They played like the eliza variety hour.

eliza and whedon have said that the show really picks up around ep 7 or 8, that that was when Fox stopped fraking around with the show.

He'd also make a good terminator. Maybe the one before ahnuld, the one that was all plastic and easy to spot as a robot.

no, not at the same time. In SDFM Max is flying a 1j at the end of the series and Hikaru is in the 1s. In DYRL max gets the 1s and hikaru is in a 1a when they're on earth. At the end of the movie, hikaru is in a 1s while max is in his blue q-rau.

Yup yup. I'm waiting to hear some confirmation on the leg fix... if so the only question is get one now or wait for the movie version and hope for more fixes/upgrades.

Well, that's good news and Keanu is known to be a huge fan of the show and of the director, Shinichirō Watanabe, so here's hoping for something that doesn't suck.
