  1. Why not a little from column A and a lot from column B?
  2. oh, okay, I get you. I think this movie works by playing with the idea that the Americans were boyscouts and our moralism (the ends don't justify the means, "then you'll be just as bad as them") and instead this movie depicts, in glorious tarantino violence, that we also did heinous things. Maybe most of the audience won't get the irony and just see it for the brutal brutal brutality and snappy dialogue and cheer as Nazi blood is spilled.
  3. ...I don't get it...
  4. I just noticed we're using the same Ikea table to take pictures on.
  5. I'm digging what I'm seeing so far. I thought the first teaser was a little choppy and I wasn't sold on Brad's accent but whatever, bring on the Basterds!
  6. Thanks! I didn't repaint it, the color is just because of the light, it's facing a window in the late morning so there's a lot of light hitting it plus quite a bit of reflected light off of the table. All that light washed out the color and illuminated the visor so I could actually pick up the "eye" detail. With a little spot metering for exposure I was able to keep the whole thing from being too blown out. Glad you liked it! I'm totally digging your "joy of valkyrie" pics and i'm glad they're getting the exposure they were denied the last time you tried to show them.
  7. but you can't deny those extra two letters really do make a difference.
  8. LOL, so awesome!
  9. Some GERWALK love: And finally, my son demanded his toys get some love too:
  10. Nice, it's great how quickly you're trying new things with such nice results. I appreciate the homage.
  11. No... ultimate banner is nothing like norton banner. Norton's banner was pro-active and confident. Ultimate banner was weak willed, nervous and had serious ego issues. Ultimate hulk was id uncontrolled wanting to eat and sex everything in his way. Remember the scene where Hulk is climbing up the skyscraper screaming about wanting to sex Betty and eat freddy prinze jr. Norton's hulk is nothing like that, he's just like the original 616 hulk a dumb reactive subhuman that wants to be left alone. And I couldn't disagree more with your portrayal of movie stark and ultimate stark. Ultimate Stark is completely unhumbled, he makes the iron man suit as a child, is the subject of genetic manipulation by his father and is basically a giant walking brain... movie stark, like 616 stark (I'm talking origin story here, not how he's portrayed now) becomes a hero because of his experience in captivity and the death of Yinsen. Even his early career as a war profiteer is modeled in the movies.
  12. For that matter, why paint both sides? since the stay in the blister pack you only see one half anyways.
  13. Let's adopt a little orphaned Meltrandi girl she said. Meltrandi children need love too she said... For Petty Officer Third Class Dixon, "bring your daughter to work day" was always a little more difficult than for most parents...
  14. A little destroid love... just because the last time I took a picture of it I had it being thrashed by Miria...
  15. yup and the writers are saying there's still no official confirmation: http://io9.com/5213470/dollhouse-and-termi...et-say-insiders
  16. I got my Alternity Prime from laftoys.com yesterday and I'm pretty impressed with it!
  17. wuh? Who are these "most people"? I liked Diebuster immensely. Maybe not as much as gunbuster but it's still good.
  18. for me, I prefer the transformable toys because part of the appeal of the design is that it transforms. The mechanical design is just as important to me as the aesthetic of the overall toy. It's why I prefer slightly wonky transforming toys over 100% anime accurate statuettes.

    Passing the torch

    ! congrats !
  20. hahaha awesome! Sheryl looks like medusa with the hair...
  21. Other than Sam Jackson as Nick Fury there's not much Ultimates Iron Man in the Iron Man movie. His origin story and the armor, the supporting characters even the villains is either right out of the 616 continuity or heavily modeled after. Actually, same with Hulk, ultimate Hulk has a very different origin story and characterization. And other than the costumes even the X-men movies have more in common with their 616 counterparts than the ultimates version. The Wolverine movie looks like it's going to follow the Origins book (more or less, sabertooth and not dog)... pretty much the only thing movie Wolverine has in common with Ultimate Wolverine is the height and that relationship is actually the other way around, ultimate James was made tall because of movie Logan. They'd have to either seriously retcon the existing X-men movies or seriously alter Cable's origin story if they're going to try to fit it into the existing X-men movie continuity. But it looks like they're going for a soft reboot of sorts with the X-men: First Class movie: http://www.darkhorizons.com/news/13839/don...x-men-spin-off/
  22. nice work! The improved lighting makes a huge difference. So now that you have the intensity down, play around with the position of the light for dramatic effect or to add contrast and volume. And also start playing around with angles and perspective. Like that superman pose, if the camera were lower and pointing up, it would exaggerate the effect.
  23. yup, first one. Better feel of the material and original color. The 2nd one the highlights are close to being blown, notice how some of the dorsal details are obscured.
  24. HAHAHAHA, there was a reef store I shopped at that offered two receipts, one for VISA and one for the GF...
