  1. nice, what camera did you get? I've been eyeballing a tamron 90mm macro. Maybe for next month since we're moving this month.
  2. Great pics Tack! Love that last shot.
  3. If they bring this show back... please please please spend more time on victor or sierra. For the love of god, a show about people who become different people should be acted by people who can act like different people. Yes, I love Eliza, she's way hot and seeing her dance around in a short little skirt makes my heart go all dizzy in my chest but she really can't act like anyone other than herself. Which isn't bad, harrison ford and russel crowe have done this to great success but when she's supposed to be a different person every week it stands out. Especially when all the other dolls are so damn good at pulling off those paroxysms. I mean, when NSA dude realizes he's in Victor's body, that scene was amazing. So bring it back, retool it so the time is spent among the dolls more evenly. And if those wannabe ghost whisperer plots must be told, have Victor or November or Sierra do it.
  4. woohoo! order shipped! Big thanks to over-drive!
  5. err... I wouldn't go that far. Superman could just toss him into the sun or bend the metal on him so that he's a human pretzel. Wolverine could probably beat anyone from Captain America and down but folk at Superman level powers should be able to deal with him pretty easily.
  6. who knows. One of the more ridiculous moments in comics comes when wolverine gets dropped into a vat of molten metal a'la T2 and his glowing red SKELETON crawls out and commits bloody murder. At the start the wolverine arc of Civil War, he gets burned down to his skeleton as well, doesn't move around but he does come back.
  7. getting decapitated doesn't stop people with wolverine's level of healing. In the comics chuck writes that for logan you need to decapitate him and then bury the head away from the body to stop spontaneous regeneration.
  8. Wolverine was made by Fox though. And you know there's no way any big hollywood studio is going to take such a maintstream character like Wolverine and show his as the brutal murderous thug that he actually is. hard to sell lunch boxes for 5 year olds of a character who, among other things, slaughters half an army and stands on top of a pile of maimed and mutilated corpses.
  9. whatever, they turned jubilee into a white girl and not to mention all the other characters in the history of fiction who were turned from their original ethnicity into white people by hollywood so I can't really say I care. And if that's the only thing "wrong" with this movie than woohoo.
  10. Meh, why not leave this thread up and see if there are a bunch of people who have issues or suggestions on the way their forum is moderated? If there is some good idea out there, I'd like to hear it.
  11. I'm happy with the mods and the style. There's incredible leeway here and honest and sincere discussions that stray into the forbidden topics are allowed up to a certain point... where members involved are allowed to say their piece, and respond in kind before being nudged back in line. And for the most part, the mods here let members work out our own issues. I respect that they respect us (well, you guys at least, I'm not sure about me) to let us handle their own junk and don't play the baby sitter. I've also been a mod on a board and I can tell you... we had celebrity posters (for that particular hobby) and those members were not to be criticized or made fun of in any way. That prohibition also extended to companies that advertised on the board. The posts of regular members were frequently edited or out right deleted and the threat of perma-ban was brought out frequently and it wasn't an idle threat. So yeah, I like that there are rules and boundaries, and I don't need to know every little reason for why a thread was closed or a member brought in line. I just appreciate that those things are being done and that I'm not the one doing it.

    Yamato Toy TV

not for east asians. There's two ideas, one is that long nails shows wealth in that you don't work with your hands and you can keep your nails long. The other idea is similar to palmistry; that if your pinky reaches the first knuckle of your ring finger then you'll be rich/smart. So the digitally disadvantaged grow out the pinky nail to cheat. Which I find funny... because Fate would have to be pretty ass stupid to fall for something like that.
  13. I hope the end sequence with troll-bot isn't the final render, looked awful.
  14. I don't think user error is yamato's fault.
  15. nothing big. I just cut out a thin strip of metal and cut into the wall (where the arrow is pointing to) to anchor it and glued the strip against it. Then I folded the strip over the busted hinge, used a nail the same thickness as the hinge pin to punch out a hole and then replaced the hinge pin. Oh, and shaved down the inside of the hinge a little with a file so it would still fit. Did it a few months ago and it's held up to repeated posing/transformation.
  16. 1j! but I already got the 1d.
  17. swwwweeet... OD coming through with vf-1d, tv max vf-1a and vf-11.... can't wait.
  18. Yeah, there's a pretty clear distinction between informing the public and preying on people's fears for ratings. Anyways, I found a pretty handy self diagnostic: http://doihaveswineflu.org/
  19. Dude, Egypt is going around slaughtering all their pigs... though there's some talk that this action, rather than out of genuine public health concern, is a move by islamic fundies to stick it to the christians. Anyways, I don't think anyone here is trying to 'spread the fear'. There's a lot of hype and misinformation out there, mostly from people who learned about diseases from TV and movies and from books like "Hotspot" or "The Coming Plague".
  20. Pandemic doesn't mean it's the plague of doom, you know. It just means a wide spread epidemic. And epidemic doesn't mean plague of doom either, it just means a widespread outbreak of an infectious disease. H1N1 meets the criteria. We know it's contagious through person to person contact, we have substantiated reports of sustained human contagion, which means, unlike West Nile, it doesn't need a vector to spread it along. We know it's wide spread, it's all over North America and it's in several other countries. All modern outbreaks of ebola and marburg were geographically contained... Even the current outbreak in the Congo that's been going on since late 2007 has only killed around 100 people. Half what the suspected death toll of H1N1 in Mexico is thought to be and a mere fraction of the estimated 100 million people the Spanish Flu killed back in the early 1900s. And Ebola is relatively easy to spot and contain as the symptoms manifest quickly and since the victims tend to die rather quickly (if untreated) it tends to burn out quickly. Influenza is much sneakier this way, the symptoms take time to manifest while the actual disease is contagious before the coughing starts. Thats the big difference, flu is a known killer and the H1N1 historically has killed FAR more people than ebola or marburg put together (estimated up to 100 million) and this new strain is now confirmed all over the world. Maybe it's not a big deal in the industrialized world but if this strain hits an impoverished nation it could be a completely different story. Think what sort of disaster it could be if it hit Africa, for example. Already suffering from an astonishingly awful medical system on top of a potentially uncontrolled HIV/AIDS epidemic and compounded by a growing TB epidemic.
  21. yup, they tested the pig farms near where the suspected patient zero is and the tests came back negative. I prefer H1N1.
  22. H1N1 is air born. Pandemic just means it's in multiple countries and verified for sustain human to human transfer. And the reason why people are worried is because of the historical mortality of this influenza subtype. I agree a lot of the hype has a dangerous racist undercurrent though. Some countries in Europe are talking about travel bans to Mexico and calling this "mexican flu"
  23. well, H1N1 is a variant of the spanish flu that killed, some say, 100 million people back in the day (early 1900s). So who knows, maybe it will be the super virus that scientists have been predicting. I'm gonna stick with 'meh' though.
