  1. I got an email back from over-drive. They say they should have their pre-sale up tomorrow but they're saying limited qtys and to order right away.
  2. If the borg upgrades are canon then it's WAAAAY underpowered. I think it makes perfect sense without the borg influence.
  3. I dropped my ver 1 1/60 vf-1s shortly after I got my 1/48 vf-1s. Not going to go back. Unless they discover the ver 1.0 cures cancer or something.
  4. nice. finally, something to do with all those "spare" hands.
  5. honestly, for me, right there with wrath of khan. First contact a distant 2nd 3rd, and I don't care about the rest. Like asking me to describe which sack of poo smells more.
  6. The monitor was the first iron plated steam powered warship (along with the merrimack/virginia). Sure it didn't have missiles and what not, but even if we were to compare the monitor versus a WWI era battleship, there's just no contest. Technology improves in leaps and bounds. 150 years is a long time, even for ST technology. Sure, 100 year old ships were still in service but after only after extensive retrofits. Even in TNG and Voyager we saw huge improvements in torpedo and phaser technology. It's perfectly inline with established Trek lore to say that an unmodified kirk era ship would be no match against a modern ship.
  7. I like the in movie explanation better and honestly, if the viewer just thinks back to what tech was like 150 years ago, it's not hard to imagine that a modern utility craft retrofitted with weapons could devastate entire fleets in the past. Just think, 150 years ago it was wood and wrought iron and steam power. An entire armada of ironclads would be sunk in minutes against any modern warship.
  8. how is that amazing? You think a handfull of monitor class warships has a chance in hell against even a tugboat loaded with modern anti-ship to ship weapons and sensors?
  9. LED lit LCD TVs look gorgeous. I was admiring one at fry's the other day. If I were buying a new TV and had the extra cash I would strongly consider getting one.
  10. booo, I just placed a pre-order with HLJ. oh well.
  11. wuh? limited run? I guess it's time to pre-order. Thanks for the info.
  12. yes and no. UV light does break down the dyes in plastic causing them to "yellow" but temperature and reactive gas like oxygen can also break down the dyes. There are plenty of stories of people who brought out some old toy out of the closet only to find it had yellowed. Heck, the dye just might have a short lifespan if it was mixed or formulated poorly to begin with or if the factory decided to save a few bucks and used poor quality materials. There's a lot of variables. So giving the toy a fresh spray of anti UV coating will probably help, especially if the toy gets a lot of sun but it won't stop the yellowing process.
  13. I agree as well. I thought it was MUCH more keeping in kirks character than exploiting some programming bug. He saw something he saw as unfair and he broke it. And I loved that the whole scene was played out with Pine doing a William Crapner impersonation, his smug assholness was perfect.
  14. LOL. I so agree with Nimoy... on all points actually, especially the last.
  15. .... yeah, how about some PICTURES OF VALKS?
  16. If this reboot means no more stupid federation time cop stories then it will be the single best thing it accomplished. I just LOVED that they didn't run around waving their arms talking about restoring the time line.
  17. Feh, that would entail bits and pieces falling off for no reason, obviously you're thinking of Serenity.
  18. saw it after Trek... I can't believe that people think this is better than x3... this was a horrible POS. Weak plot, sloppy characterizations, horrible casting... Were they contractually obligated to have a "wolverine looks up into the sky and screams" scene every 15 mins? And the visual effects were horrendous, scif-fi channel movie of the week bad. Nevermind the horrible models, the craptastic textures and lighting... just the compositing was criminal. I'm pretty sure I've seen fan made SW movies on youtube that were pieced together better than this. Pretty much the only thing that worked in this for me was Liev Schreiber's sabertooth.
  19. Saw the movie this morning... fraking awesome. Just a blast, haters be damned.
  20. awesome season finale. Nice call by Knight26 on the Saunders/Whiskey connection.
  21. True, but it's entirely inline with the other popular shows that MF was airing with. Gundam 00 and Code Geas have plenty of fanservice and Code Geas in particular is much more overtly sexualized than anything in MF. And many of the more recent shows had as much if not more fanservice compared to MF: Ghost in the Shell Michiko to hatchin samurau champloo shikabane hime Gurren Lagann Cowboy Bebop bleach It's not really fair to slam MF for this when it can be easily argued that increased sexualization is the trend in anime in general.
  22. No... Dante74 shoots canon.
  23. funny considering your avatar is minmay's cleavage shot and your complaining about the boob shots in MF... Considering shows like Gunbuster and Code Geas, I can't believe all this hate thrown at MF for some cleavage. And please, stop with the name calling. Ranka is legal in Japan and in half of the world's countries.
