Who cares, unlike 90% of the rest of the Trek movies and the recent shows and the recent time traveling plots, this movie was, engaging and accessible. I realize that these ideas are antithetical to what many trekkies love about the series but just that core group of elitist hardcore fans really isn't deep or wealthy enough to keep the franchise afloat. Could it have been the adventures of Captain <some new guy> and his vulcan first officer and a bridge crew of people we don't know and don't care about in some part of the federation we've never heard of and a planet we don't care about? Sure, it could have... but considering this movie has already made almost double the previous highest grossing Trek movie of all time and something like 5 times what the last movie made...

I was thinking about that... all I could think of is that they didn't have a chance, nemo nero alters the time line pretty radically just as he emerges from the future so there wasn't much time ( ) to do anything about it, just deal with the consequences. That was one of my big gripes with how the show dealt with chronal anomalies, why would these nefarious time villains go through all the trouble of jumping back in time and then wait around till they actually get around to being evil?

Yes, they already established this in T3 and in T:TSCC... they abandoned the idea of a special relativity style causality loop with the 2nd movie. Ever since T2 the timeline became fluid with alternate futures possible.

meh, the time travel lets the reboot take place while acknowledging the continuity that trekkies have studied so diligently. It actually lets them create an in show reason for having the reboot instead of the usual, "sorry, we drove the franchise into the ground and restarting it is the only way we could think of to salvage it" Don't get me wrong. I think all the time traveling stories helped drive the series into the ground, especially with voyager and enterprise and the ridiculous notion of the Federation as some sort of intergalactic time cop. I also liked that there was no attempt to "fix the timeline" in this movie.

Awesome, I can't wait for this game. I hope that cutscene means that some sort of grapple mechanism is being built into combat.

The first 6 episodes or so suck... they're horrible on the verge of unwatchable but after that the suits leave whedon alone and the show comes alive. Well, except for one pretty bad episode, but definitely the last half of the season is worth watching.
