There's supposed to be a Leader version of SS in the works right? Hopefully there's a repaint sans the cybertronian markings... whatever happened to "robots in disguise"?

It's not really a direct prequel. There's quite a few changes to the character's back stories. How Renton and Eureka meet in the movie is completely different from their TV meeting and pretty much everything else. There's two ways it's presented in the movie... one is that Renton and Eureka and the rest are somehow legendary beings that are destined to repeat their story/destiny in the far future as chronicled by the TV show. The other is that their story becomes legendary as what's her name talks about having to write down the events... so the TV show could be seen as the mythic retelling of the actual story, kinda like the legend of King Arthur and other mythic figures based on historical fact. I don't really care either way. I enjoyed the movie for what it is. It's pretty much to Eureka 7 what the Escaflowne movie was to the Escaflowne TV show, imo.

actually no. Darkly colored plastic actually has just as much pigment as lightly colored plastic and are therefore just as susceptible to discoloration.

maybe depending on whether that shade of blue-grey is final or not. I'd really like the blue toned down.

Don't worry about it. We go through this every single time. I'm not sure if people just don't get it or if it's some sort of running gag.

Well, yeah. But another way to look at it is that either version is the "legend" of the actual events or a'la kawamori there is no true version. Anyways, I liked it. For me the backbone of the show has always been renton and eureka's relationship and I thought the movie did a good job of exploring a different aspect of it from show, how they truly hold on to each other with or without the support of the people around them.

Oh, you mean in that sense... gotcha. I thought you meant it was a prequel to the *story* told in the TV show.

nice. I like how he stows the shoulder appendages and I like the new gundam toes. Much better than the original look of prime standing on his toes.

I disagree, if you can empty your head of the TV show and just accept this as something new then it's enjoyable. I agree it ends rather flatly but I still enjoyed it.

And again, they're not just making the VF-1. We've had 2 new sculpts this year already with potentially 1 more before the year is up. Maybe they're not valkyries some people want to see but they're new all the same. The angst here just doesn't match the reality of the situation.

I don't get the impression SS is getting ragged on because of what he says as much as how he says it. Anyways, we just had the vf-11 released and now the VF-22 and graham has already said that another new sculpt is in the pipes. I don't think all this talk of yamato running out of ideas or not having enough "guts" is justified. They took a huge gamble on a little known franchise and helped to resurrect it. Are they milking the hell out of the VF-1? Sure, but I remember just a few weeks ago when people were bitching and moaning about "Where's my M&M vf-1j? Where's my virgin road 1D?" and now it's "blah blah, stop milking the vf-1, blah blah".
