It sounds awesome! I wanted to get a range finder type camera as a walk around but they're either ridiculously expensive or just didn't offer the sort of performance I wanted or both... This seems like a great blend of size and performance. If you do get it, please post a review!

Hah. Despite your fanboy enthusiasm for your chosen brand ( ) it's really not so clear cut. Nikon cropped frame cameras are pretty superior to Canon's offerings. Better high ISO performance versus slightly faster FPS and Nikon blows away Canon in autofocus performance and flexibility. Nikon also plays far better with multiple flash setups (ironically, I hate flash so I don't care about this) Canon really doesn't have an answer to the D90 and up. Lens performance matches up as well. It's only when you get to full frame and *recently* with the 5D mk II that canon has really regained their dominance. The D3x is a nice camera but its relatively poor low light performance means it's really best suited for the studio, not to mention its rather insane price point. There is one area where canon kick's Nikon's butt though... rabid fanboyism.

Yeah, when you're shooting specific subjects, like planes, birds, etc, it's really a good idea to pick the body based on the lenses you'll be using. Sony makes a decent body (their sensors are in Nikon) but the lack of lens selection hurts for anything more than casual hobby shooting, imo. a little vf-11 fun while I wait for customs to clear my package...

nope. We got our camera to take pictures of the kid. My trusty lumix P&S just couldn't keep up with the kid, especially indoors. It's a shame because so many of his pictures from when he was born to about 2 years are either a little blurry, grainy or have that ugly flash look. It's really one of the big regrets I have is that we didn't have nicer gear back then to document his first 2 years.

true, I'd want to see a couple of seats and a couple tandem seats as well as the baby pod. I'd REALLY like to seem some real world style missile and bomb clusters or even wild crazy stuff like sensor or ECM pods, non canon weapons, etc.

It really depends on the pigment used, lots of dark pigments will "bleach" as they get broken down and you'll end up with faded areas.
