  1. lol, speak for yourself.
  2. See, the michael bay movies ARE like the G1 cartoon... edit:: well, except for the funeral part.... "Aw, Jazz"
  3. Yup! It looks so good it even looks good going down in flames...
  4. Thanks for taking care of us Shawn!
  5. there was an outage for me this morning, don't know for how but I noticed it around 10am to at least 11:am PST
  6. yeah.... I guess... hard to give up being ghetto.
  7. I'm hoping the individual weapons get modeled and if you customize your mech's weapon load you'll actually get to see those changes reflected.
  8. Yeah, I wanted to stay away from actual full spectrum bulbs, even though I know it would be easier. frak it, I'll just do the color correction in post
  9. oooh, those look ridiculously cool! Thanks for posting those up edit:: So... I'm coming to the realization I'm gonna need more lamps..
  10. It's actually an LED desk lamp, some car windshield heat shields and tweaking with the white balance... still dialing it all in.
  11. If Jetfire didn't have the light/sound feature his head could have actual articulation as well as in the torso so he could properly hunch over like his in the movie. His head could also pop into the chest in the combined mode so it's not just sticking out there behind Prime's head. Could have had a much improved bot mode and possible jet mode.
  12. # 7 is pretty damn confusing too. I just wish Yamato would finally make the pilots to scale so it can sit inside the head like it's supposed to...
  13. The guys at ILM have said that while everything in a car or truck is in their robot models, they add a bunch of stuff as well. Bay can claim all he wants that there's no mass shifting but the actual modelers have disputed that claim. I think it's possible to get jetfire into an SR-71 but it's going to require lots of origami type folding and spindly limbs . The skeleton of Jetfire would pretty much have to be aluminum or titanium to be able to take the stress of transforming.... the SR71 is a really thin bird.
  14. has nothing little to do with the lens, I just shot it with a really shallow depth of field. The undulations are the actual curvature of the toy, the angle I shot it just accentuates it. Here's some shots so you can see it's transformed properly with a greater depth of field. And remember, the nose cone is rubber, it just doesn't want to line up straight. *shrug* This group of shots were taken with the Nikkor 12-24mm f 4 EG DX wide angle lens, pretty widely regarded as one of the best wide angle lenses available for crop frame cameras. There's distortion at the edges so I tried to keep Jetfire in the middle of the frame
  15. wow, that foot positioning trick is awesome, thanks! I flipped jetfire's arms around the back cleaned up some of the clutter that way and I'm actually pretty happy with their combined mode now.
  16. Fantastic! I hope it's optimized to hell so my decidedly non optimized PC can handle it.
  17. It's both. The arms have the little silver paint cockpit and then hidden in the fuselage is Jetfire's face and a little faux cockpit that lights up. Some of it isn't bad but the whole lower body is just ridiculously stupid. Basically half of Jetfire is just hanging off of Prime's waist like a skirt or something. And there's ZERO posability in the legs in their combined form. As a joke though, his sound effect in this form is some sort of mechanized walking sound even though the only pose he can do is that moderate lock kneed A stance.
  18. It basically carries the "jet" on its back and lays down to "transform"
  19. Cool, I'm game. It'll be fun to meet everyone!
  20. It actually *is* straight. It looks wavy because of the contours of the fuselage. The cockpit blisters up at the end so the curvature makes it look kinda wonky... Another poor design choice is that the very tip of the nose cone is actually soft rubber... so it's not going to match up at all unless you put sticky tack or some sh!t on it. Some robot fun. I actually have come to like the bot mode. Could have used some more articulation in the neck and torso though. And yeah... the colors suck. Yeah... There's actually a great deal of hollow areas in the toy that could have been used to stow the arms and without the voice box/battery box the torso could have been much flatter and with articulation and then the legs could have folded better. Basically they really f@cked it up so it could have the sound and light gimmicks and then further to make it "combine" with Prime.
  21. just for fun...
