  3. Well... the chinese did invent everything else...
  4. terracotta hikaru!!! love it!
  5. oh, I agree that they're legally liable for it and should offer disc and console replacements at no cost, I just don't think it's fair to say it's microsoft's "fault" unless they knew about the flaw and released it to market anyways... like the PROD, that one *is* their fault.
  6. As I understand it... If a license holder hasn't copyrighted the material in the appropriate country than they have no legal right to sell that material or profit from it in that particular country. So while it's probably illegal for the person allowing access to Japanese programing outside of it's intended market (illegal distribution) it isn't illegal for people outside of the intended market to download the material since the copyright holder doesn't have the copyrights to that material in the country in question. edit:: and what constitutes "legal viewing" is pretty arbitrary as well.. case in point, the NFL and their 55" and no more than 5 speakers rule. That's right, if you have a big ass TV and a 7.1 sound system you may be in violation of the NFL's copyright.
  7. lol, well, I stand corrected then. I have my 360 on a shelf with the cord tucked away, silly me with my extraordinary precautions. edit:: computers and consoles run discs differently. Consoles stream data off it so they're constantly being accessed. Computers usually use the disc to verify ownership and sometimes stream music. It's far more likely moving a computer while on will not result in a disc scratch because the disc will not be in use at the time. Now, try it again while installing a game and let me know how that works out. Of course, microsoft should personally check every single component by hand and then come over to your house to make sure the floor is level and read the manual to you while they tuck you into bed and check in the closet for scary monsters.
  8. no no, it's okay to mock christians, it's only the mocking of a certain other religious group that is offensive now. edit, I should add a winky face or something. I'm not offended, I think the Life of Hikaru is brilliant. edit pt 2: man... I see jiminy cricket got to miriya! boo jiminy cricket! boo!
  9. I agree, a different stealth scheme sure, but it should't be a micronized clone of the 1/48 stealth.
  10. what is "many"? since we're so fond of anecdotal evidence here, no one I know who owns a 360 has had it scratch a disc. And I fully grant that some units may be doing this, did microsoft design the DVD drive? Wouldn't it be the fault of the DVD drive manufacturer?
  11. I'm sorry, this "flaw" is retarded... how was MS supposed to know that idiots would try jogging with their 360s while playing discs? Most tray loading players don't have stabilizing mechanics. If you tip over your desktop while the DVD is spinning you'll scratch it up too.
  12. man, Mac666 got an awesome sequence for his film strip!
  13. Ugh, don't say things like that... I'm still in denial about keeping my toys safe from my kid!
  14. as interesting as it looks, I don't think it's going to sell well, certainly not well enough to be a system mover. I hope it does well but I don't have any hopes that it will.
  15. ugh, keep paul verhoeven in the late 80's where he belongs. That man is far too full of himself at this point.
  16. go for the slim, it's quieter.
  17. funny, releases in the US that have small target audiences are usually sold for considerably less than what a large mass market product would sell for. Something like Bubbahotep goes for 10-12 USD while a major release hollywood blockbuster that is going to sell an order of magnitude more copies will sell for 20 USD. And then there's the really hardcore niche market, those poor guys get raped by the very property they keep alive. So much for brand loyalty.
  18. nice, love the angle on the 2nd picture !
  19. meh. The tape dispenser mock up was growing on me!
  20. I guess the baby blue color they were showing a month ago didn't go over so well?
  21. That's not what's to blame. That's been going on since the birth of the serial superhero comic. Comics used to cost 25 cents, printed on cheap nasty paper, printed in 4 colors with mediocre but serviceable art. They were cheap and disposable and kids could get them at 7-11 with the left over money from their slurpee. Then Jim Lee and other superstar artists happened. Paper stock went from cheap pulp to thick, acid free stock. Printing went digital, colorists went crazy, only books with either superstar artists or big name heroes sold, prices sky rocketed to 2, 3, 4, 5 dollars a book. Kids couldn't afford to buy comics so they thumbed through them at the 7-11, so 7-11 stopped carrying them. Comics slowly became relegated to specialty stores that were and remain intimidating to casual fans. The whole culture closed in on itself and became unfriendly to new readers. So simply, they priced themselves into oblivion.
  22. Personally I liked South Park's lampooning of this very subject... http://www.southparkstudios.com/clips/103759
  23. I just got season 4 of the BSG soundtracks... really loving it. I'm so glad they changed composers from Richard Gibbs to Bear McCreary for the actual tv series.
  24. nice review. First time I've been to your blog but good job!
