  1. Thank you everyone for posting!
  2. Nope, escaflowne in both movie and series form is awesome. Don't miss it. It had the great misfortune of being released at the same time as Evangelion and got completely overshadowed but it's a fantastic show and the movie is great as well, a darker slightly twisted retelling that's grander and more theatrical but well animated with a fantastic score.
  3. My son and I made our first "big boy" lego kit together, the Y-wing fighter. The Y-wing was my first star wars toy growing up so I liked that it's my son's first as well.
  4. nice, can't wait for mine to get here too.. great picture as well.
  5. Nice, always a treat to see meltran on micron violence. Viva la CF!
  6. Macross > Optimus > Quarter. Get your priorities in order!
  7. nice, love the background
  8. FF is actually kinda useless for what I use a camera for (mostly pictures of my kid and family). Maybe if I did landscapes or something. Besides, some lenses like my wide angle zoom are inferior in the FF version. And yeah, nikon has canon beat when it comes to AF points.
  9. Anyways... hero's don't die, they just get new rides.
  10. oh my... that is impressive!
  11. Yeah, all my lenses are DX types. Technically they'd still work on a FF body but then what's the point? Unlike canon, nikon has kept their MP low so it's not like I'd get a bump in ISO performance. And frankly, the 5D mkII is a better camera (and cheaper) than the DX3. Honestly, if I ever did go FF, I'd go canon at this point (since I'd be rebuying lenses anyways). But here in the cropped world nikon still rules! Sorry anime52k8...
  12. Hah, but then I'd have to rebuy all my lenses...
  13. gah, too awesome! Can't wait to see some detail shots and a list of gimmicks.
  14. Thanks! I'm really liking it too, so glad I held off on getting the sigma 35mm... just a happy accident that nikon released a nikkor 35mm. That's a great shot, so sharp and crisp!
  15. check out the 51's big brother: http://www.xoticpc.com/asus-g71gxa1-p-2591.html has a quad core CPU, plenty of power plus it has the blu-ray drive.
  16. I just got the asus g51vx-a1 and I love it. Fast, quiet and stable. The only draw back is thanks to the quad core CPU, dual HDD and 260m GTX GPU the battery only lasts around an hour.
  17. You don't need to justify it, no one is saying you should or shouldn't like whatever line. It's just that when you cite certain examples or pursue certain lines of reasoning it invites discussion.
  18. edit:: man, I can't read... nevermind what I wrote in this space previously.
  19. You "experiment" on junk, strips of plastic, cheap models, until you have the skills to properly paint a model without it looking like suck.
  20. Not that strange. They just released the armored ozma and have the yf-25 model coming out, they probably don't want to cannibalize their sales by showcasing the 1/48 yet.
  21. Ill add my support for cowboy bebop and Escaflowne. 5cm per second starts off strong but fizzles out at the end. I think a much better story that hits similar things is The Girl Who Leaps Through Time. If your kids are younger or still young at heart, anything by Miyazaki (studio ghibli, totoro) though his earlier works are his best, imo.
  22. the game has mal and six in it... I'm there!
  23. Oh and if you like super robot type shows, gunbuster and gurren lagann are excellent. For a slightly more realistic take on a space opera try Planetes. Planetes can seem a little slow for the first few episodes but stick with it, it's superb.
  24. I'm right there with you.... Hibiki is not only my least favorite macross character but one of my least favorite characters of all time.
