The All Things Video Games Thread!

more like, short bow is broken, it has the same range as a longbow but faster rate of fire! -
Interesting, I think the forearm pulls out for battroid mode and in for fighter mode so that the elbow armor thing sits flush against the shoulder.
-
Think it looks pretty good, head placement in battroid is in the right place and the tailfins/backpack is raised up to how it's shown in the line art as well. Easy pass for me though... I just don't need another vf-1.

I get it already, by muhammed, a clip binds the ammo, a magazine is a container for the ammo for the gun -

True, but in ODST they don't start shooting at you until they actually have a LOS on you. I can think of a handful of the city maps where you enter and there's patrols but they don't all just turn around and start shooting you because it's scripted that way. And the baddies in ODST don't stop chasing you because there's some imaginary do not cross line in the middle of the map. I've had hunters chase me indoors, up the stairs and back out again. You just don't see AI like that in MW2. The baddies spawn, run to their predetermined position and start firing and in some instances, don't take any damage *until* they reach their mark. And that's really the problem with MW, that in order to make for a more cinematic sequence too many of them are heavily scripted. -

yeah, multiplayer wise it's a huge improvement over the already excellent MW. The new player spawn system works much better, challenge tree and leveling system is much more forgiving for beginner and casual players, the initial maps are nice and diverse... I've heard more than a few people complain about weapon balance but I haven't really seen an uber weapon myself. -

just read the player forums, everyone has noticed they still spawn enemies. The game designers only said they were working on fixing the problem, not that they eliminated it. That deduction came from fanboy writers. I know for certain they still spawn, because if you backtrack they magically re-appear again. As you hit certain areas they stop spawning enemies but until you do, they just magically appear on rooftops, in closed rooms, etc. Not on every map but in Brazil... yes, they spawn. -

The podcasts are the commentary tracks on the DVDs.. there's some I wish he had redone for the DVD though... the ones where he and his wife are just chatting aren't particularly interesting. -
Well, I really can't speak to much of that. I know people don't like the samsung remotes (I don't) but I've never heard of them just not working. As for firmware.. yeah, samsung has had problems in the past too releasing firmware updates without a proper QC check but I've read of a lot of instances on the AVS forums of people using the wrong update as well. I just know that it does seem that the series TV that David's friend has problems but that all the tv's from that year had issues. I haven't had any since I got my replacement unit.

Sorry, actually it's pretty secure. it's in place by three large hexagonal pegs that hold the saucer in place. I remembered it being loose, but it isn't really.

Sorry, I emptied a full magazine into some guy's head and it did nothing until the magic arbitrary kill switch was flipped. better? -
meh, all the major brand TVs from that year had issues, sony's had clouding problems and sharp had banding issues.

haha, I hadn't read your review... was avoiding spoilers. I liked the game, it's fun but I guess coming off of batman, uncharted 2 and dragon age, I just wasn't as impressed by this as I was by the first modern warfare game.. -
It's the Hot Wheels Star Trek Ships line, you can find them at target, walmart, TRU and yeah, the saucer section falls off, I mean, comes off.

Actually, it does. I stayed and sat around in the bottleneck areas just to test it. There's several spawn points in the brazil slum. It's not as bad as in MW where they just kept jumping down from ledges but they still do just pop up. The baddies also spawn depending on where you are. There's several points where they're hiding behind doors or windows but you can't shoot them until you've crossed a magic line on the map and then they can take damage. This also happens during some of the myriad "breach" sequences. I put an entire clip into a guy's head and he wouldn't go down until after a few moments when suddenly the "can take damage" switch was thrown. As for going around firefights... yes, there's a few instances where you can do, as long as you go far enough to reach another "safe zone" where the game stops spawning baddies magically behind you or plopping them down magically on some rooftop where they magically know exactly where you are even though they no line of sight. Actually, the plot to this game pretty much is the plot to Halo, so there you go. -
Not as annoying as the bothered by the people who are bothered by the people are bothered argument though. I mean, how dare people try to express their differing opinions. Everything should be the same, the SAME!

everyone conveniently forgets about mylene and ishtar when they complain that Frontier introduced loli and fanservice into the macross universe. Hell, they don't even mention that Macross plus makes a not so subtle nod to the tentacle hentai sub genre. Anyways... I agree with the admiral. These are transformers priced products, they look appropriate for their price point.
