  1. I get that the design of the 00 is different, different power plant, etc. But you'll see. On the strike every surface has some detail. Like the idea of a frame, tubing, etc. On the 00 even the frame is smooth, very little detailing other than the occasional little detail. There's just very little in the way of features or surface detailing. The frame almost looks like it itself was sealed up, instead of looking like the guts of the suit. The upper body IS nice though. The whole shoulder assembly, the little locks that hold the empty drive compartment closed, etc, it's all very nice. And as I've mentioned before, the kit really shows the evolution of the frame. The guts of the old single drive version of the 00 is still there. An access hatch and even a pilot compartment. The hinges for them to work are in place as well, though they no longer work because of the new pilot compartment fitted onto the upper portion of the body.
  2. Try making it and compare for yourself. But let's just compare the legs. Thighs: Strike, splits in two with a system of pistons 00 has an upper "knee" joint with a ratchet Calf: Strike, upper calf and lower calf actually separate in two with opening hatches on either side. Has system of articulated fins and thrusters that can be deployed. 00, has two hatches that pulls open to allow access to the push lock Ankle. Strike: greater general articulation than the 00... can bend back and deep forward bend. Has system of pistons in the front and in the back "hamstring". Has an articulated attachment to mid calf. 00, a disc on a peg that allows limited forward bend and slight back bend, slightly greater side to side motion that strike. Foot: Strike: has more surface detailing as well thrusters in the arch of the foot. 00: has a second "toe" joint that doesn't quite make up for lesser ankle movement A picture, doesn't show articulation but you can see the comparatively lack of details and features of the 00 difference in depth of leg bend
  3. As usual, you have no idea what you're talking about.
  4. I wouldn't say a prime is a specialized lens.. that would be more like a fish eye or other effect type lenses. It's just the basic lens that usually offers the best IQ and speed while sacrificing versatility. If you're looking for camera bags, I recommend lowepro camera bags. I have the slingshot model and I love it.
  5. A prime lens is one that transforms into the leader of the camerabots, a race of autonomous cybernetic organisms from the plant oneexpensivefreakinghobby-tron. It just means it has a fixed focal length like "35mm" or "5omm" as opposed to a "zoom" lens which is a lens with some sort of mechanism that allows it to vary it's focal length like "18-55mm" Nice lens selection btw
  6. Ooooh, it looks awesome, can't wait!
  7. Well, made the frame for the upper body. If anyone was thinking of painting this thing, there's a ring system that the shoulder assemblies connect to. Don't paint the internal ring/shoulder connectors as the tolerance inside the ring is pretty tight and it will gum up the mechanism. One of the neat things about the kit is it shows how the 00 is a modified single drive suit. The ring assembly and cockpit areas even has left over remnants of it's single drive days, a little cockpit hatch with "GN" marked on it that doesn't go anywhere.
  8. I doubt I would rebuy any that I currently own but I'd get upgrade parts. Honestly, I'm more interested in weapons packs and accessories than in detail upgrades though. I'm really not terribly interested in all in stuff like flaps and hatches. Yamato's molds are just too poor for high tolerance parts like that, imo.
  9. he must have left the card in there, the counter should go to -E- immediately after removing the memory card.
  10. I cancelled. Not thrilled with the color, will wait for the inevitable repaint.
  11. My max vf-1s just shipped from HLJ... yay super sale!
  12. err... a big NO to the rivet marks... I like to think valkyries were made with more advanced manufacturing techniques than what e had available in the 70's.
  13. NOooooooOOOOOooooo, don't get him started on all the old tech he has!
  14. Sounds good. Especially the weapons pack. But please, make it affordable.
  15. Well, the greater the number, the greater the zoom. So the 200mm is going to have a farther reach than the 105mm. On a cropped body like the D90, 35mm is basically what the human eye sees. So, 35mm and lower is considered "wide angle". On a full frame, that would that cut off would be at 50mm. You can use any lens for a "portrait", my friend's wedding photographer took amazing portraits with a 200mm lens, for example. But most people consider 35-70mm to be portrait lenses. The type of lens you use isn't going to affect what you print to, that's going to depend on your resolution and your ISO. What I would suggest is just go to a camera store or a store like Best Buy and ask to see the lenses mounted on one of their demo units and just see for yourself.
  16. What? that's hilarious.
  17. Woohoo! Congrats!
  18. I liked it... pilots are usually a little rough but so far I'm digging it. It gave a nice sense of *why* the cylons hated the humans so much in BSG
  19. how was he tactful? When he flicked people off? Or when he used his terminator to beat up those guys in the parking lot who came to his defense? Wait, are you thinking of strategic? That John was shown to be strategic?
  20. Wuh? John is never portrayed as calm and tactful... in T2 he was an impulsive kid and in T3 he was an impulsive and emotional loser. Even in the show he's portrayed this way. I do agree the writing sucked though. Just the overall plot was weak.
  21. A nice move in ready home in the Fremont area... that doesn't leave us house poor and my toy budget slashed.
  22. bookmarked... for the next time my wife asks why I spend so much on toys. Let's see some pics of your collection! Please?
  23. A couple of lenses for the camera, a new laptop, 13 yammies, a pg 00... so around 6k??? holy crap... next year is going to be dry though, working on buying a house.
