Wide angle shots are the rage right now with wedding and group photography as well. And since the in style now is photojournalism/natural, you need a fast lens to capture the action

child's play! I want a 1000 word essay on why an airplane that transforms into a robot that wasn't designed to be used in space would not only be designed for use in space but able to dive underwater, transform, swim and then use conventional air breathing engines in order to break surface tension and then fly away.

That's your problem right there, you should be pouring overing imaginary technical specifications and trying to apply those to the real world. listening to music... pssh

yes, it's a sign that your fanboy tank is dangerously low.

the problem is that the top of the GBP chest piece is design to conform to the chest indent where the head sits. The 1d chest piece cuts straight across so you would need to cut a section to allow the chest piece to properly lock. Or... you could just pop the head off of the 1d and stick in a regular vf-1 body and call it a day.

Again, you guys have to invent magical scenarios where people design vehicles that look like anachronistic 20th century warplanes to fight a war that not one of you has described where a 40 ft tall anything would be remotely useful. If you have to design a magical scenario where: - magically strong materials only get applied to transforming vehicles - transformation necessary components weigh the same as a non transforming airframe - transformation necessary components do not cost more to manufacture or maintain in terms of money and time - joints and the systems necessary to run them aren't more vulnerable than armor - do battle in some sort of terrain where their size and slow movement speed are not an issue - have magical targeting and stabilization systems to compensate for bipedal movement that can't be applied with greater effect on an ineherently stable platform - where non transforming vehicles have received zero upgrades in the past however many hundreds or thousands of years necessary to get to this point... Then YOU have proven that a valkyrie is not practical.

the chest piece doesn't fit any of the 2-seater valks, 1d included. The chest piece is pretty form fitting and the lower locks won't grab on the 1d body without modification.

That's all user error.

vf-11b and vf-21/22 have been QC and issue free.

the matrix is just two parts regurgitated Buddhism with one part daoism with a little judeo-christian sprinkled on top for sh!ts and giggles. -
The Underrated/Overrated SF films thread....

underrated: Moore's BSG overrated: All things Star Wars except for Empires Strikes Back. (and if fantasy is included) The Passion. -
Do you really think it would be that hard for a group of small, dedicated and moderately armed insurgents to take down a multi-billion dollar war machine by hiding in buildings and caves? It happens every day in a certain part of the world. edit:: The very fact you guys need to keep coming up with elaborate tailored scenarios to make a valkyrie worth it just proves that it isn't. A transforming vehicle is never going to be as good at any role as a dedicated machine and it's going to be exponentially more expensive to produce, manufacture, maintain and train pilots for. If your argument is that in the future such costs won't be an issue because of some deux ex machina then you have just eliminated most of the reasons for waging war in the first place. And *even* if you had such a magical machine and unlimited resources and a regular plane would still be cheaper and faster to make and fly and it would still out perform a valkyrie. And I can't stress this enough, bipedal locomotion is slow, inefficient, less maneuverable and inherently unstable. There's a reason nature rejected bipedalism for any organism where strength and speed were necessary for survival.

Hiding against buildings filled with soldiers with anti-tank weapons is a very bad idea.

wow, nice!

a 40ft tall anything is not going to take advantage of the terrain, the terrain is going to be a liability.

any vehicle that has that many moving parts would require *more* support. They might be able to leap frog traditional units, but then what? They have no fuel, no ammunition, no one to fix them if they break down, etc. As a flying tank, they would be vulnerable to faster more agile dedicated fighters. You see this in modern units, you don't put the ground support planes until the f-15s have already cleared the skies. In gerwalk they would be vulnerable to those same fighters while in battroid they're vulnerable to dedicated ground units that are faster, more maneuverable and field heavier weapons. Something like an attack helicopter that can shift into a high speed mode is one thing, but even then you wouldn't use them to go up against actual air superiority fighters. And anything that flies will always have less armor than a unit that is land based.

Worst Science Fiction Film of All Time
eugimon replied to JELEINEN's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Are you guys kidding? The dragon eats Matthew McConaughey, that alone makes it one of my favorite movies. -
Any technology that could solve all those problems could more easily be applied to vehicles that don't have all those problems in the first place. For example, to make valkyries real we need tiny uber powerful engines to overcome the size limitation and weight issues. A tiny uber powerful engine would make a regular plane that wasn't heavy that much better. Because bipedal locomotion is slow and inherently unsteady and having something tall with the center of gravity up high isn't the best design for something that picks up heavy loads and moves them around.

not even then, not for 2k. Maybe with a proper finish, paint, detailing and a proper display stand.

I hope not. The Full armor is crap. The way the forearm armor attaches breaks the transformation of the arm for fighter mode. The leg armor attachment is, frankly, dumb and the calf missile packs are missing the vent details, the whole thing is just lacking for details and I'm convinced that the way the leg armor pushes up on the wing gloves is causing those cracks in the back plate we were talking about in the previous thread.

considering we have almost as many posts about whether we should have specific unit threads as posts about all the various DX releases combined so far I don't think we need to split this up just yet.

maybe the 25 will get a design refresh for the 2nd movie and that will justify a new sculpt?
