Medicom/Hot Toys and all 1/6 scale figures
Gakken85 replied to EXO's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I'm sure he's coming if the other one is successful. haha -
Yeah, they can't go full retard on prices. Then nobody will buy from them and they'll be stuck with stock. haha

COR felt like they crammed a whole trilogy into one movie. Could have been really epic but it just felt flat. Still, I enjoy watching it and don't mind watching it from time to time.

If you want Halo that new ThreeA figure is probably the best you'll ever see. -
I'll watch it. Doesn't seem to have anything to do with the last film though... Did any of you watch that little bridge cartoon they put out?

Not a batman fan here! . Didn't like the Dark Knight much. As for the quality of Medicom, my Eva is really impressive and doesn't feel cheap in any way, and looks amazing. I hated the hip joints at first...I was scared i would break them since I couldn't actually see how they rotate inside the rubber. They kind of lock up with an "L" and then collapse back to a straight "I", if that makes sense. In the "L" you can get better crouching motions, and of course they rotate in the hip joint. I don't see why it would disintegrate any more than any other joint or toy, but I've only had it for two months. It's a lot of fun to pose. -

I bought the Iron Man Mark I v2 for my brother for a present and I inspected it tonight. As I am not much of a human action figure/doll fan, It felt more solid than I would have imagined. I don't see myself buying a lot of these, but I might get this version for myself just because I enjoy the bulky, tank like look. I'm hoping they make a silver centurion Iron Man from the 80's comic. And I'm going to keep an eye out for the Harlock they make. We'll see. I was bummed that they don't have a more extensive horror line. Id really get into a Michael Myers, Jason, Chucky, and a Cenobite. I guess it is too hard to get the licenses? I find dolls creepy to begin with, so horror movie dolls kind of make sense, yet.. Hot Toys doesn't make them! haha. -
I just finished Frontier. I have to say... It's the best Macross show... even better than SDFM. Thought I have a special place in my heart for SDFM, I think Frontier is a better story, and more powerful over all. Really enjoyed it. And all the little nods to SDFM like the valkyrie curse, haha.

You should buy up like 10 of the no-paints and paint them. You could sell them here for a good profit I bet

True. The scalpers take risks. I think the 171 is different for lots of reasons. Even so, some people don't have time to keep track of all these prices, and just want to buy one. You can always wait for somebody with more money than time.

Yeah, I understand. But it becomes pointless when you have so much demand for a item that has such a small run. It starts off with wholesale price. Maybe Bandai sells these for $60-80 dollars (I'm not sure). Suggested retail will vary from Brick and Mortars in Japan, to Online stores in the united states who have to import them. So $130-170. If you import them yourself you're paying shipping on top of any markup. My point is, there isn't one set magic price for us as consumers outside the natural market. As American's we're used to being able to buy whatever we want and having competition to get it cheap. Obviously that's not the case here. The sooner you buy it the better off you are. If it's $20 bucks over, or $30 somebody will pay $100, so you better pull the trigger if you want it. Scalpers thrive on finding those people who have more money than time. And they do exist. And again, these are luxury items. It's not like we're talking about Milk and Eggs.

I searched the forum for a thread on this, but I didn't find one. It damn well deserves one! Nothing beats space pirates. Even space ninjas! I'm really excited for this film. http://www.ebay.com/itm/321119214387 That's why I think it's funny when people complain about a $20 dollar markup.

I think its more that brown is an ugly color. The VF-171 is a CF too, but it's a sexy CF! haha

Just keep in mind, anything off Yahoo Japan, you're paying another $80-100 dollars in commissions/fees/shipping. BTW, I just sold my Milia 1/48 for $257.

I never had a MP Megatron, but I read the transformation was pretty nuts.

There is always room for improvement! haha.

I mean, there is only one way to transform it properly. You can do it in a slightly different order than the instructions with the various parts, joints, and sections, but it's only properly transformed one way. It's not rocket science. Either you take the time to do it, or you don't. Personally, I enjoy a more complex transformation that takes a lot of time. It is kind of like replay value on a video game. Some games you can beat in a few hours, and then you just want to sell it. Others take weeks and you never get bored. I find it relaxing like a puzzle. Everybody is different. If you don't enjoy it, then you don't enjoy it. Doesn't mean you're less of a collector or less intelligent because of that. Maybe you just have less patience than others, or other things to do. It's necessary though, on some level. You can't have a high level of detail and articulation without a lot of moving parts in a transformation toy. However, I think Bandai/Arcadia could learn a lot from Takara. They have toys that are, what I would consider, moderately to high levels of complexity in transformation, yet the transformation is still fun and engaging. It also retains a high level of articulation and poseability. Transforming MP-12 for example was a blast. It was complex enough to be a bit of a challenge, but I never got frustrated. When I said that the 171-CF isn't any more difficult than a Masterpiece seeker, I meant that it wasn't nearly as bad as people make it out to be. Obviously the nose and chest section of the 171 is more intricate... but that's the design from the line art. Bandai could have made different choices and probably designed it to be easier, for sure. Either way, I think the 171-CF is beautiful, and it's worth the extra time to transform it and display it in Battroid. I might go back in 3 months and spend some time putting it back in fighter for something new. If I wanted collectibles to just plop on the shelf and never fuss with, I'd buy figurines and be done with it.

oof. ... I think I have a pre-order with them! People forget.. even though we pay a lot for toys. It's a rough business to make money in.
