This is from a while back, but I haven't seen anyone address this. . . Why would Yamato care about "devaluing" previous releases?!? They made their money on the previous releases when they sold them at wholesale to the retailers. I doubt they give a rat's @ss about how much we pay at retail. As for the rest of this "argument". . . normally I like seeing people quote each other and respond. . . but it helps when you make sense. H

Any websites with decent pictures of Macross Zero?

Amen brother. . . -
Here's the most recent iteration of this topic. Complete with poll. I sense impending moderator involvement. . . H

Sweet merciful crap! If the earth is ever invaded by giant aliens, rather than build a grand cannon that derives its power from the earth's gravitational field, I suggest we build a more portable and flexible weapon that would be even more powerful. . . powered by the gravity fields emanating from Agent-One's super-massive ego! So massive, nothing can escape it, not even light. H P.S. Just having a little fun here. I'm totally ignorant about M7. . . but from what I've read, I think I'd hate it just about as much as Agent ONE. Will see it some day and try to keep an open mind. . .

Anything's possible. But I doubt it. The yellowing was uniform on the nose area. It didn't seem to conform to where friction would have taken place. H

I stored all my Bandai/Taka 1/55s and Joke machines loose. . . they made their way from my closet, to my parent's garage, to an attic, to my apartment's closet. . .and I never noticed any yellowing at all. I had them since 1987. I then placed my Takatoku Super-O in a ziploc bag and then placed it in a box. A couple years later. . . pretty signifigant yellowing. I've always wondered if sealing them up does more harm than good. But I guess the jury's still out. H

I did almost the exact same thing. Pre-ordered from RT.com. Got it. Opened it. . . said: "Holy crap! This is cheap! Jeez! It's entire head lights up with the LED! It's flimsy! It's proportions are off. . . etc. etc!" Of course, this was before I regularly visited MW. . . so I suffered in silence. So, I put it back in its box and stored it in my closet. I never bought any other MPCs because they were (in my opinion) that bad. And a year or two later, I made a nice profit on it. Don't really see what's so odd about that. Why would anyone mistreat a toy (even if you don't like it) when you can just as easily put it back in its shipping box and, throw it in the closet and forget about it. H

I think this EBay stuff has been debated before.

That is quite possibly the best summation of the Star Wars toy phenomenon that I have ever heard. Especially the part about how so many people gave up on it right around Phantom Menace. It's like you were writing my biography. H

Hehe. . . true enough. But I wrote a scenario for Civilization II based on Tolkien's The Silmarillion. . . Even though I state it clearly in several places (even in the logo). . . I still get a few emails per month asking: "Hey, what's this? How do I play it? Do I need some other game?" Maybe putting Homeworld somewhere in the title (like a subtitle) would help cut down on such questions. Personally, I love: "Macross: Space War One" H

Those snowy streets that she remembers might just be from when they took their leave together while they were both stationed on South Atalia. My opinion (judging from having recently watched "Rainy Night") is that Keith's chronology is pretty-much accurate. Though, of course, a determined screenwriter could insert any number of new stuff in the gaps. H

If that were the case, don't you think I'd be involved by now!?! H

Wow, I know this is ironic coming from me (considering I'll so often argue "to the death" with anyone who pisses me off). . . but I almost wish you hadn't even dignified that guy's jealous, petty criticizms with such a cordial response. Really, he should have just been told to go to hell. You do whatever you want with your money dude. If someone actually feels compelled to express their deragatory opinion about it, they've obvioulsy got issues and/or are just looking to start trouble. Actually, congrats for not taking the bait. Probably better than I would have done. H

So inappropriate. . . yet I can't look away!

Wow! Great post King Nor. I agree. But before this turns into another thread on whether the VF-0 is truly the prototype for the VF-1. . . or why the VF-0 seems more advanced than the VF-1. . . let's just point everyone to these threads, where just about everything that can be said on this topic has already been said. . . "Does it bug anyone else?, Macross Zero VF-0 and "Valkyrie Development History. . ." These topics are also touched upon in this thread before ewilen graciously redirects everyone to the two threads already mentioned above. Best Regards, H

To me, the most important thing for a SDF-1 Macross toy is that the arms swivel and bend at the "elbow." As far as I know, only the large Matchbox/Takatoku Macross does that. Are there others? If the elbows don't bend, it just doesn't look right to me. H

Here's a thread that eventually recommends brake fluid! (I'd be careful with this one!) Somone here recommends combining pine-sol and sugar soap! Here's a recommendation for using Easy-Off Oven Cleaner. Good Luck!

That would make sense. . . thanks. Thinking about your response, another way to put it would be that, during launch, the air is getting thinner and thinner as the speed increases. Whereas, during re-entry, speed is at maximum as contact is made with the atmosphere. Sure, the atmosphere will introduce drag and slow things down a bit. . . but I think, as Phyrox said, that a spacecraft is going much faster on re-entry for its given altitude than it was on the way up. H
-
My understanding is that a heatshield on spacecraft is only needed for re-entry into the atmosphere. Please note that the U.S. space shuttle has its black heat shield tiles on its belly, as that is the surface that is making primary contact with the atmosphere during re-entry. There is heat shielding all over the shuttle, but it is thickest on the belly. But. . . I don't know why this is so. Can anyone explain why re-entry is so much "hotter" than flying at the same speed when you're already in the atmosphere? As for why we call the canopy cover on a valkryie the "heatshield". . . I just assumed that's because Hikaru closes it over the canopy during re-entry during "Love Drifts Away". . . I know that Rick Hunter calls it a "heatshield" by name in RT, but I don't recall if Hikaru does in SDF-Macross. As for a valkryie being transatmospheric. . . during the episode where they capture the factory satellite, they clearly use some (non-FAST Pack) booster unit to attain orbit. That doesn't necessarily mean that the booster units were required to reach orbit. . . but I think it strongly suggests it! H

I always assumed that the strike cannon was a laser that was tapping directly into the nuclear power plant of the valkryie. So, if that were the case, wouldn't the capacity of the strike cannon be effectively unlimited? Or am I making (numerous) bad assumptions? I get the feeling the answer has been explained before. . . but since we're talking about strike cannon capacity I thought I'd ask. H

Like I said. . . could be wrong. I've just never seen it sell out anywhere. . . eek! Just checked TMP. . . and they are now sold out. So much for that theory. Was just a (perhaps false) impression I got from stock levels and sale prices. Not saying Yamato didn't make money on it or that it was a disaster or anything. Heck, maybe demand for good ol' Max (1A) was just overestimated and some buyers over-bought. Just FYI for anyone who wants one: Toy-wave has had them on sale at $89 for months now (+ shipping from overseas). I don't have any direct experience with them, but that's a damn good price on a new 1/48! As for your particular toy buying habits: I think we're all aware that you're abit kookey. . . but in a wonderful, wonderful way. Best Regards, H
-
I could be wrong, but I'd consider the Max 1A TV style to be pretty unlikely. . . only because I think the Max 1A DYRL style sold rather poorly. I'm only basing that on indications that few places (that I know of) sold out, and many have been on sale since shortly after their release. I'm hoping for a Cannon Fodder! H

I used to be a "no" type. But I've grown to loathe the AnimeFriend-heavy episodes so much that I'd be onboard with a re-animated one that (as others have said) retained the original voice and music recordings. Though, really, I also wouldn't mind if they added more variety to Minmay's song repertoire. H

Mmmmmm, irony.
