Only after I wouldn't bet money!

Refusing to bet with strangers over anime arguments on a public internet discussion board is "backing down?" Dude, seriously, think about that. Do you really think that's a valid test for the validity of someone's opinion? Especially one so meaningless as this? I think HG will dub a hypothetical DYRL DVD release if their marketting research demonstrates that doing so will substantially increase sales for that DVD and therefore increase profits substantially. Could I be wrong? Yes. I'm just making my best guess here. We're all guessing. I never claimed to have insider information nor did I state that opinion arrogantly or without qualification. So, why the hell would anyone want to bet $50 over such an issue? My opinion here is no more ungrounded than anybody else's. Nor did I claim otherwise. In fact, I took pains to frame it humbly. So, again, if you want me to back down from an opinion, feel free to state a counter-argument. But offering to wager is just lame and proves nothing. H

I refer you to my original statement on this: Seriously bro. This is a discussion board about anime. Who goes around saying: "Bet me money!" whenever they disagree with someone about such innocuous topics? Well, besides you. To be perfectly honest, gambling problems have been a problem in my family. I don't bet anymore. I used to dabble in sports gambling but stopped when I saw what it can do to people. My brother's life is currently being devestated by it. If you're so sure that my opinion is wrong, why not make a convincing counter-argument. That's what these boards are here for. Not for wagering. H

If no DVD shows up, neither of us win. This is about the dubbing. That being said, I'm having flashes of the Simpsons episode where Bart sells his soul to Milhouse. So I'm back to my original offer of a doorknob. H

That's quite a leap there. Just because they are no longer in contact with our preferred sources does not mean they have "no way" of knowing what the market currently demands. H

Well, I think we all just have varying opinions regarding how much demand there is for a decently dubbed DYRL. My own desire for one has so many caveats that I doubt it would ever come to pass. For me, if it's yet another sub. . . even if it is "official" and R1, I'd probably pass unless the image quality is as good as the FX and the subtitles are better. But if they dubbed it, and used different VA than Robotech, and the image was as good as the FX DVD, and the translation is good. . . then I'd go for it. But that's a lot of ands. . . H

How about you not take discussion board disagreements so seriously that you're willing to put money down on an entirely innocuous opinion? In other words: Settle down, Sparky! Really though, as such a "successful marketing professional", I'd think you'd agree that a company will do what will gain it the most profit. And, as I said, if an investment in a new dub would garner appreciably more sales and increase profits, I think they'll do it. But, I really don't care enough about my opinion, or yours, to bet on it. H

I'll bet you, Agent One, one shiney doorknob that --if Harmoney Gold releases a R1 DVD for DYRL-- that said DVD will have an english dub. H

Well, if their marketing shows that they'd sell "oodles" (a technical marketing term) more if they invested in a dub, they'd do it, I'd bet. I could be very wrong, because I avoid HG like the plague. . . but do they have any record of releasing un-dubbed anime other than their peripheral involvement in the Animeigo DVDs? H

Considering they already have the MPCs which they have billed as being superior. . . not likely. H

Well, you could consider Robotech a dub on top of a mangling. Something tells me that if they release DYRL in the states, it will be dubbed. I for one, hope that they get all-new voice actors if they do so. And, I'm on board with the "a dubbed or R1 DVD release would be great. More power to them. Please just don't f- with my Yamato toys!" Yes, we all hate HG for what they did to Macross originally. . . blah blah blah. But let's also be able to appreciate what they might do right in the future. In fact, if they do release DYRL without RT-ing it to death, I think it might be a small step towards redeeming themselves and recognizing their mistakes. . . as was their allowing the Animeigo DVDs. H

In addition to the Roy tail fins I've already requested above, I'd like to humbly put my hat in the ring for the next available: R-L2 L-L2 These are the upper leg/hip/intakes. Max 1A, Roy 1S, or Hikaru 1J/S color would be fine since these parts have no markings. Both my hips on my Hikaru 1A have large cracks. Thanks! H

I posted a link above dedicated to this. But it now seems defunct. I'll check that out later. But keep in mind that if you want to have the original video quality, you'll need a dual-layer DVD, and hence a dual-layer-capable burner. Such burners *just* became available. . . and the dual-layer media is still nearly non-existant. H

There is some disagreement about the velcro thing. Some claim to have gotten 2nd releases with velcro. The surefire way to tell the difference is to look at the headrest of the pilot seat. See this post for a picture of a re-issue headrest and more discussion of this. Best Regards, H

If I understand you correctly, you're saying that: For the price of twenty smaller engines designed to provide more flexibility and maneuvarability, you could put a set of huge primary thrusters on a vessel whose performance in raw acceleration would far outstrip the maneuverability and velocity of the vessel with the smaller thursters. I think I agree. There is definitely a trade-off.
