Okay. . . here it is. I can't believe I found it among all these old backups. I'm hosting this on my own server. I'll leave it there indefinitely unless Doktor Gonzo (the creator) objects. H

Sigh. . . I may have this on a CD somewhere. I'll look. H

The only thing I'm getting annoyed with is the constant swerves into "I bet he doesn't have a girlfriend" talk. It got old about two years ago. It was old when Triumph the Insult Comic Dog made fun of those guys in front of the theater for SW Ep2. It's not getting any newer. And many of those who feel the need to say something along those lines are saying more about themselves than they probably care to admit. H

Actually, I'm not sure where the hunter green color comes from. . . it's gradually come to light around here that teal is more anime-accurate. In fact, it was just discussed a day or so ago. . .

Sounds like you're pretty universally being told to have a nice mug of STFU. Looking at the links in your sig, you should feel fortunate that most everyone here is more generous and courteous than you when discussing your contributions. H

That originally came from this thread. However, the MOV file that was linked there appears to have been taken down.

I believe Max pulls out a gun that looks remarkably like that out of his cockpit when they abandon his valkyrie during their escape from the Zentraedi. H

As someone who still had nearly every vintage Star Wars toy until recently, I can tell you that a lot of people sold off their vintage stuff for two reasons: 1. The new toys were either the same or improved. 2. Disenchantment with Star Wars. For me, it was both. I sold off all my old stuff (and made about 3k on it!) as I realized that it had all been replaced with improved (or nearly identical) newer versions. . . then I failed to continue collecting when I grew so disenchanted with Star Wars. Besides, I needed room (and money) for Macross stuff. H

Is anyone else shocked by how many of us have one!?! I thought the number would be much lower. I guess they aren't as rare as the ebay prices would suggest. Or, maybe we're all just conscientious collectors and we're sure to have such things! H

Woops. A select few of the subtitles in the 4:3 stream weren't quite fitting on the screen. It wasn't major. But it's now fixed. Widescreen was unaffected.

When you use DVD Decrypter, it will remove any region encoding as it decryptes/demuxes the DVD to your hard drive. Your DVD drive can be set to any region while it does so. Then, when you compile the new DVD and burn it to your blank media, the new DVD will be region-free. H

Congrats! Dude, that's a combat zone! You earned it! There's only a cease-fire in effect there. I don't think most people realize that. Though, you obviously do!

I will definitely order two sets of these. Thanks for doing this! H

5/1/2005 Update: Menus optimized for 16:9 widescreen televisions. Subtitles now no longer appear "stretched" on standard (4:3) televisions. There are now two subtitle streams included. One for 16:9 televisions and one for 4:3 televisions. The DVD player automatically selects the appropriate subtitle stream based upon what type of TV (16:9 widescreen or 4:3 standard) you selected in your DVD player's setup menu. In case this "auto-detection" fails (unlikely!), you can view the alternate subtitle format by choosing subtitle stream 2 during playback using your DVD player's subtitle button. Subtitles are now on by default. You can turn them off at the main menu or during playback using your DVD player's subtitle button. Some minor dialogue changes. Some puncuation consistency changes. Note: This will be the last upgrade to the fx DVD subtitles. I have put a lot more effort into the timings and accuracy of the official Bandai/Emotion release of the DVD here. I strongly urge people to purchase the Bandai/Emotion DVD. Support Macross!

And by that statement, it seems obvious that you haven't seen the TNG episode in question. . . or you associate "military" with "evil". . . In "Yesterday's Enterprise", characters remain essentially the same, except that the timelines have diverged at the point where the Enterprise-C either stayed and saved the Klingon vessels (thus leading to Fed/Klingon peace) or fell into the time rift, thus not saving the Klingons. . . and leading to a long Fed vs Klingon war that did not go well for the Federation. But, in that alternate timeline nobody who was evil becomes good, and nobody who was good becomes evil. The "mirror universe" on the other hand, does indeed seem to be bizarro world. Good and evil are swapped. Some might argue that the mirror universe is merely an alternate timeline as well beginning at the point where Chochrane shoots the Vulcans as they arrive on earth. But, I'd say that it's Cochrane's "mirror universe" nature that makes him shoot the Vulcans. . . and that it was a mirror/reverse (evil) universe all along, even before Cochrane killed the Vulcans.

I would have liked to have seen this similar arc in the Next Generation timeline. . . though obviously it would need to be heavily modified since the Defiant would be obsolete when it emerged in the Next Generation mirror universe. But, back then, TNG was always trying very hard to divest itself of its original series legacy. It's nice to see Enterprise embracing it as it goes under (never seen Enterprise except the first episode and one or two here and there). Speaking of which. . . did TNG ever do a mirror universe story arc at all? I think I remember browsing past a novel. . . but did they do a TV episode or two at all? H

So, just so we're clear: There is no real cross-over going on between universes other than the Defiant? I kept waiting for the Enterprise crew from the "good" universe to try to return home. . . or one of the bad guys to suddenly reveal themselves as their counterpart from the "good" universe. Did Enterprise just *randomly* do this story arc without any larger tie-in to the standard universe? Either way is cool. Just wanted to be sure that I wasn't missing anything. H

That looks pretty cool! Were you trying to convert it into a WSP-1 Wasp from Battletech or perhaps a Phoenix Hawk? (because of the FAST Packs). . . because it has taken on a very Battletech-esque look that I actually quite like! H

You've definitely got artistic talent. . . but we just have a different preference in female aesthetics. Because, from the neck up. . . THAT'S A MAN, BABY! H

OK people, the new Macross Hub is up and running
Hurin replied to Get Free's topic in Movies and TV Series
This started about a year ago. Many cable companies were finding that they had a few users that they considered to be "problems." Many of them modified their Terms of Service agreements at that time so that they actually are allowed to "discipline" customers who "over-use" their services. Yes, it's lame, but if it's part of the TOS that you signed, you're SOL. But, I too would ignore the email until they shut me off. H -
Hmmmm, so far, I've felt that the trailers and promo materials were intended to draw in the old-school Batman fans. But, to me, this new trailer appears to be more geared towards the general public. I'm not saying that's bad, just saying that they appear (to me) to be changing the target for their PR. Maybe they are confident that they've won back the Batman fans (after that last movie) with their previous promo stuff. H

Wheels just saved me a lot of typing.

What has Peter Jackson done with his life?
Hurin replied to bsu legato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Had major server problems at work (came in at midnight, left at 3pm the next day!). . . look what I missed!!! Anyways, as a Tolkien freak, my opinion is that Peter Jackson did about as good as possible. . . but those movies still don't do justice to the grandeur of the books. I only had two major problems with the movies that took them down a few notches for me: 1. The army of the dead essentially relegating all the sacrifices made before their arrival moot. 2. Elijah F'in Wood. Some day, I hope to be able to purchase a paperback of a LotR book without his mug on the cover. He doesn't look like Frodo (as described), he isn't anywhere near Frodo's age, and his "acting" is limited to staring into the camera with big, watery eyes. But, since this is a "parody thread" I've probably already said too much. And I can't believe I missed out on the thread that this thread was intended to mock! H
