Sounds great! So when do we annex Poland!?! 317436 Poland? Annexation? What's that all about? 317747 I find the idea of parents being "questioned," "monitored," and "re-educated" in some type of "parentsprogram" simply because their child played/obtained an adult video game to be to some degree. . . hmmm. . . what's the word. . . oh yes. . . fascist. And I don't throw that word around lightly as I think it's over-used quite a bit in the current political climate (especially in the US). The reference to Poland: Germany's invasion of Poland touched off WWII. Ask your grandparents about it. It was sort of a big deal. Especially over in your kneck of the woods!

I'd love to see that in color! If your girlfriend does it, make sure she works with the highest possible resolution scan! Great find! Thanks for sharing! H

It saddens me that so many threads eventually devolve into discussing him. Which, of course, only makes him happy. If we all had the collective intestinal fortitude to ignore him, he'd go away. H

Hey. . . I stumbled back upon this, and the good news is that you can now read this in a much easier-to-follow format here (choose the chronological option). I've updated the links in the original posts as well.

George Lucas now wants to rape your adulthood...

Is that what happens when my car gets too excited? -
It's you. link.

Hmmm, yeah, I think you guys are right. It's probably the power supply. It's been a few years since I've had one fail outright, but if I recall, the symptoms were very much like this. If you're to the point of replacing components one-by-one, I'd take these guys' advice and go with the power supply first. H

Hmmm, I'd have to go with. . . "Not giving in to the 'Cult of AgentONE' by refusing to sycophantically recite Conan lines for him at his command." H -

See, this is where I diverge from the Lucas-hating crowd. . . What's the big deal? As long as he's making new stuff rather than going back and mangling old already beloved stuff, I don't see an issue. Let him do what he wants. And if it's good, we'll watch it. George Lucas getting into anime = good! Goerge Lucas re-making Macross = bad! H -
Togo's got it exactly right. Reset the CMOS. If you can't locate the CMOS reset jumper on the motherboard, then unplug the system from power, and then remove the CMOS battery (it looks like a giant watch battery). Leave it out for like 30 seconds (just to be paranoid), then put it back in and power up. If it still doesn't work, go with Togo's list of probabilities. The last time this happened to one of my users, it turned out to just be RAM that needed to be re-seated. But, of course, that was lucky. VF-19, if you remove all the RAM, you won't get anything except a dark screen and some odd beeps when you turn it on. Good Luck! H

I didn't see it either at first, but it's in his sig: "Gone till Roy grows up or resigns. Put this in your SIG." Wow. . . trying to start a revolution over Stealth. . . -
Rejoice! For the bi-annual substantive A1 post has arrived! It is time to celebrate. For this will not happen again for many moons. Rejoice!

At the time of the Columbia disaster, I read in several places that there was not originally a problem with the foam breaking apart and falling off the tank. The problem only arose when NASA was forced to change the foam and/or its application methods due to "environmental concerns. At first, I thought this was only political propoganda, but I actually found a NASA document backing it up here.

I remember seeing this in the Mars base episode ("Bye Bye Mars?"). I think it's more likely a case of lazy animators. H

And finally, though I think some people still disagree, the formula goes like this: Where plot and story are concerned: SDF Macross (TV) is considered canonical. Where mecha, equipment, uniforms, and character design are concerned: DYRL is considered canonical. So, just picture the TV series with the cooler looking uniforms and mecha. That's supposedly the canon. H

Who's arguing? I was merely pointing out that I think Macross is a much more satisfying story without having two totally incongruous, unrelated, and superflous stories artificially tacked directly onto it. I do see where you could see that as irrelevant especially since I may never have even known about Macross had I not seen Robotech (and those unfortunate changes were necessary for RT to exist). And I can definitely see where people here on MW will say: "Well, duh, if we didn' all already think that, we'd all be RT fans." I merely made a comment with my tongue firmly planted in my cheek. . . and you essentially tried to equate the tacking on of two totally unrelated series onto Macross as being essentially the same as Macross's original creators developing spin-offs and sequels. So, here we are. But I admit that I am stating the obvious. And I regret that we're now on the verge of touching off another anti-RT thread. I was just making a dumb little comment. I didn't anticipate anyone responding, much less taking issue with it on the merits.

Yeah, too bad they went back and added in all that crap with DYRL, Flashback 2012, Macross Plus and Macross 7, right? 314958 Seriously though. The big alure of getting to know Macross for me was that I could actually forget about all that Robotech Masters and New Generation stuff that always seemed so strange to me. The ending to Macross just seems so much more right and poignant when you don't have Dana Sterling popping up in the next half hour to essentially say: "Wait! There's more! It won't be half as good as what you just saw and will diminish the poignancy and sense of closure you just got. . . but there's at least two more "Robotech Wars" to go! And. . . we're off!"
-
I wish there were a version that just ended everything poetically and bitter-sweetly. I think the perfect ending to Robotech would have been at the end of To The Stars where Rick and Lisa were standing in front of the damaged SDF-1 as Minmay wandered off into the unknown. Oh wait. . .

Can I get one without the life-size human skulls at its feet? That's just creepy. I promised myself I wouldn't have skull paraphanelia in my home when I quit skating over a decade ago!

Actually, it took me a while to find it, but here's another "good" (none of them are really "good" because they descend into flame-fests. . . but we take what we can get) thread. Actually, I would consider this the "best" of the (now) three threads I've posted. If I recall, the "characters" involved in this thread toned it down a notch or two and some good discussions were had. H

Welcome to MW. You have stumbled onto a taboo topic. Because it comes up often and yet always ends badly. This thread will probably be locked before too long. Though the mods may be nice and let it stay until it degenerates to the point where locking is warranted. But, in case it gets locked early, here is a link to the last time M7 was discussed with any degree of depth. Of course, you'll have to sift through the flaming. Here's another thread. Though not as good as the first. It's hard to search for Macross 7 because most write it as M7. . . and the board search engine won't do a search for a word that small. Best Regards, H
