Same. I honestly cannot believe this was approved, especially as an 18+ Icons set. This looks more like a 9-14 set, and is less polished than, say, 70816:

Personally I don't see the appeal. Ignoring all the small aesthetic changes, I'm not a fan of the legs being so separated (both vertically and horizontally) from the main fuselage in fighter mode. And there was seemingly no effort to recess the head in fighter mode.
-
I'm not a huge Transformers fan but I mean c'mon...it's perfectly understandable to wish that projects with the aesthetic and story-line you like get the budget and talent they deserve. And I really hate the sanctimonious invocation of "children's toys" as a shutdown for any and all laments. God forbid an adult want something different than whats on offer from a 40 year old franchise with an entire series of multi-hundred dollar engineering marvels marketed almost exclusively to the "kids" who were alive when it began.

Entire shape of the forearm and thigh guards and handlebar covers, Yellow's tiny windshield, probably a lot more when you look closely.

Lol. Of course they would try this. https://brickset.com/article/113691/lego-may-be-considering-phasing-out-paper-instructions

What, you don't want a $20 skiff plus a $60 mound of sand?

That seems really bad. Seems like a "so close but so far" situation. Maybe they can do another release with a clear coat or no panel lines, and include a gunpod hand that fits into the arm, and maybe improve how it holds together in battloid mode without the side covers. Those seem like minor changes with major benefits.
-
So none of the hands that can hold the gunpod fit into the arm when transformed? I don't like that... Doesn't the HRM require the gun handle to be removed to stow it in fighter mode? Does the Three Zero gunpod stow without removing parts?

Tread looks great. I wonder how much the Legioss is truly nestled into the Tread in combined fighter mode. The angle in the pic could be hiding a gap, but I'm guessing it'll be close enough. Anyhow...exciting times!

Glad to know I was right to not care about this thing from the beginning!

I just bought the Pixel remaster of FF1-6 for PS5. Played the first one last night and it was fun. Looking forward to more.

I just started on my first Moderoid, the Galvion Lonely Chaser. I'm a bit bummed it's a parts-former, but I'm enjoying it so far. I'm not a modeler, so I'm glad I don't have to mess with glue or paint. And the pieces snap together satisfyingly. The Moderoid Voltron and Garland are supposedly perfect transformation. I just ordered the Garland and the Ariel with Flight Unit and looking forward to both. I'm considering snagging the Madox and maybe some others. For the price, these seem like decent values.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice - Sept 6, 2024
danth replied to jvmacross's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I saw it and was thoroughly entertained. I don't hold up the original as anything special, and I normally don't love Tim Burton movies, so I went in worried I'd be bored, and focused on just enjoying the movie for its own sake with no other expectations. The whole thing was a treat. It felt like Tim Burton with the self-indulgence turned down to zero (unlike recent Wes Anderson movies). Catherine O'Hara is frakking amazing and I loved her in every scene. It was a bit frenetic but totally in a fun way and the different story arcs were resolved satisfactorily IMO. It seemed like as good a Beetlejuice sequel as anyone could ask for. -
I'm totally out of the loop on the HMRs. Are these still 1/100? Is the Kai perfect transformation/no part swapping? Are the landing gear built in?

The Unlicensed Third Party Transformers Thread
danth replied to slaginpit's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Man, I could not be more tickled with my KO Yamato Jetfire. It looks so great. I kinda want to buy another! I also want to buy an old G1 Jetfire now. But when I went to look on eBay, I bought an old Takatoku 1S instead...and it was pricey. Long story short, this dang Jetfire knockoff has gotten real expensive! EDIT: Oops, thought this was the Gray Market Valk/Bootleg Jetfire thread.- 9254 replies

Can anyone recommend a glue for the hand cover? I assume this thing is ABS. I've searched the forums and for toys I see people recommend regular Krazy glue or super glue. I have some Duco Plastic Model cement but it's for polystyrene.
-
Update: Fixed! I drilled into the hole carefully and eventually the whole bit of offending plastic flew out. I guess a bit of flashing was stuck in there.
-
I got mine! It looks amazing. I have to fix some things -- one hand cover has come unglued from the hand, meaning it can fall out of the arm. Easy fix I hope! Just need to go buy some glue. The other hand seems to have some buildup inside causing the forearm halves to separate slightly. You know the two pegs that go into the wrists? One peg is hitting something. I might need to drill it out slightly. I need this too look perfect from behind...as it is, there is a millimeter gap between the two forearm halves. @tekering's pics make this thing look larger than life. It seems almost small in person! Plus I've gotten used to the 1/48 size I guess.
-
Same. It's embarrassing.

Damn that's a sexy butt shot. Not helping me wait for mine, which is supposed to arrive tonight! I used to stare at Jetfire from this exact angle as a kid. All the nozzles, the feet, even the exposed hands, it was pure eye candy. Having a Yamcadia version is going to be freaking bananas. Do we have an official nickname for knockoff Arcadia/Yamatos? Fauxcadias? Yamockos?
