Do you mean impressive bot modes? Or do you actually think the cassettes look good?- 9268 replies

Ok so not to defend anything Robotech in any way, but...that cute alien pet is totally a thing in Southern Cross and Bowie Emerson was a musician. So those two things are straight from the source material. Those glasses are definitely a Basara ripoff though! Or homage if you're being charitable.

I'd buy that collection on a cartridge in a nano second. But I'm not signing up for any online service that can take away games on a whim.

I guess we should mention the Gall Force-themed Sony home computer. The perfect gift for that retro-geek, 80's mecha-head in your life.
-
No Kenichi Sonoda designs, no Gall Force, as far as I'm concerned. I feel the same way about BGC too.

Same! I got Smokescreen and Bluesteak (or possibly Prowl?) for Christmas way back in '85. To this day, no other Transformer evokes the same sense of wonder and nostalgia for me than those Fairlady Z's. Looking at the G1 toys always brings me right back to that Christmas. The stickers on the arms and legs under the rear windshields looked so futuristic! And the doors as wings looked so heroic. They were just so cool. Smokescreen will always be my favorite Transformer for this reason.- 17080 replies

I really like the bot modes for ER Ironhide/Ratchet. I almost think they're better looking than the MPs. However... They're not even trying to hide those hideous feet in alt mode. The black shoulder blocks are pretty egregious too. (Pic found on tfw2005)- 17080 replies

Man, things have gotten dangerous for me. I'm buying Transformers now. I was trying to keep it only to old school GI Joes, Macross, and Mospeada. And Legos. Er, and some other stuff. But this year alone I bought/pre-ordered Earthrise Cliffjumper, Starscream, and Sunstreaker, Smokescreen, and Ironhide, as well as MP-07 Starscream, MP Thrust, and even a third party Optimus and Grimlock. I blame Earthrise TF's. They're just too good. They kinda sucked me in.- 17080 replies

Random question. On the '84 Seekers, did the wings push in flush to the main fuselage in alt mode? I've been looking at lots of pictures online and it looks like maybe they were mostly flush in '84 but reissues got "gappier" for whatever reason. I never had any version of the G1 mold, but if I ever buy one, I want to "mind the gap" so to speak.- 17080 replies

Looks good to me, although it'll probably cost $500 so I would only ever enjoy it in pictures. Like someone else said before, I don't understand splitting the wing to "hide" the tail fins rather than just folding the tail fins behind the wing. Either way seems just a visually complex, so why over-engineer it?- 17080 replies

I love Gall Force! Star Front and the OAVs. Such great designs! Love the small scale transforming mecha.

I got a response from Sentinel and it sounds like they are going to send me a replacement hand! Knowing my luck it'll be the wrong hand but we'll see. That's pretty cool of them though. Especially since they're shipping to the US. I would have been glad to pay for the part + shipping if they asked me to.

Same for me! Good luck to us.

Trigger finger breaking at the base. Either the tailfin or the inner arm pushed against it during transformation and snapped it halfway off. It's still hanging on barely. Small thin piece, multiple pinch points during transformation, no way too see what is going on when you close the arm up...seems bound to happen.

Would it be dumb to bug Sentinel about getting replacement hands seeing as the first transformation broke mine? Do they have any sort of customer service for the US? Probably not... EDIT: Emailed them through the Contact Us page on their website. Hopefully I'll get a reply!

I like it! Other than the translucent plastic/bad weathering job. I want a GI Joe Sky Striker version.- 17080 replies

Agreed, integrated boom is possible. It's not very long in the line art. I don't know how long it needs to be to connect to the Legioss in a line art accurate way though.

Dude, a Lancia Stratos prototype! What scale is that? I wonder if Tomica ever made a Alfa Romeo Carabo. Also the Countach is awesome and the box looks like it says 1/43 which is nice. I kinda want it too! Red will work for me. Yellow does looks great on the Countach. Or any Lambo it seems. Even though I don't really like yellow on cars generally.
-
I saw that post and decided to google for Tomica Countach. There is 1/43 one that is semi reasonably priced. I wish it was easier to get a decent sized Countach toy. Rite Aid had the Miura recently so I was hoping we'd get a Countach too. Jada has some classic cars like Kitt and Karr from Nightrider for just $10 each at Wal Mart. But no Countach anywhere.

I had the orange and brown ones as a kid! Must have been around '85. I also had a Lamborghini Countach and thought it was from the same set! Because it looks like a space ship. Still my favorite call ever.
