  1. Which reminds me of one of my first jobs in college, around 20 years ago, loading 1 ton pallets with a forklift! I could place those things within 5cm accuracy. The good old days...
  2. Wow! Very elegant solution.
  3. Hi NZEOD, Firstly, thanks for your suggestions. I have been studying Adafruit and the neopixels as you suggested. The first drawback I see is that the neopixels are 5mmx5mm. I never work with 5mm LEDs. That is way too big for anything I am working on. Typically I use 3mm LEDs and 0.5mm SMDs to get in the nooks and crannys. So unless I am understanding something wrong, the Adafruit wont work for me. I guess I can use the neopixels with fiber, but fiber is not always the best solution, and I still have a 5mm LED to deal with. Am I getting this all wrong?
  4. I've got my eye on that resin Macross (?) pilot in the back. Tell us more...
  5. Well, my son's first experience was with unedited Robotech, which was a great hit in our house. I will let him determine if the ADV dub stands up!

That "die cast" looks like it has a lot of plastic in it. Maybe superglue?

We are seeing this over and over again. I think that due to the new manufacturing processes, new materials and 3D design, we get lighter and more detailed figures, but the casting of these featherweight beauties is not stress tested.
  8. Now I understand how you get that finish! I had thought you hand brush. So what size needle do you use on the details?
  9. Definitely skills that need years of practice. I thought you might hand paint the details? Or air brush as well?
  10. Really nice paint. Any tips on how you thin your paints and apply the coats? Looks very clean. I have a lifelong struggle with painting!
  11. I'm using SMD's in the turrets, so I don't think they can be controlled like you say. They are less than 0.5mm and fit easily in the turrets, with enough flexibility in the wires to allow the turrets to turn manually. Not sure if they make Neopixels that small. But this thing begs for the coding... we will have to see... give me a shopping list, all I have is the power board.

Never understood why they did the CF so early, AND even before Kakizaki if they must go that route. Must be lower licensing costs for the CF?? Can't ignore the economics in these decisions.
  13. Got the smoke stacks going today. I might recast the missiles in clear resin to get more action. And had to do a test run with the raison d'etre for this thing.
  14. If you're willing to walk me through, I will start a new thread for it so others can also benefit. I have looked into Arduino and Adafruit basic tutorials several times and just cant get my teeth into it.
  15. Plus was always my number 2 favorite after the original. But what colors were the Ghosts in the series? I recall some were darker colors, but I forget these details.
  16. Any link to the "sketces"? I saw the sketch library on the Adafruit site. And my apologies to all chicks on the Workbench who may have been offended. They can definitely do a lot more programming than I could.
  17. Sweet!
  18. Doing my homework on these. Seems a bit complex for me to program and wire. But they are definitely awesome. One day...

Definitely a great year for old Macross fans. HM-R has sent lots of my non-Macross stuff to Ebay. Keep SDFM coming, no loss there.
  20. I want a CM's size Captain Gloval, among other things.

I'm concerned about the destroids, seeing that the Monster and Glaug are still not sold out.
  22. Congrats! Hoping to see a 3x valk set up in there with your stands!

Those papercrafts are quite expensive. Train modelers much spend as much as we do!
  24. Thanks. Those are "candle/flickering" pre-wired LEDs which give that effect. But I'm finding that for our small kits, SMDs are the way to go for tight spots. LEDs are often too big.
