  1. I'll take the flying rocks, but what I never understood was the need for severely anatomically detailed nudity. Macross nudity is usually not so "in your face".
  2. I was always a much bigger Macross fan than Mospeada in the 80s, but nothing made my little heart beat like the transforming cyclone. Such a cool concept.
  3. Looking forward to your news from the event. But with Kawamori focused on The Next, I am concerned he wont have had much time for the Delta Movie. Really hoping it will be a good finale to the series, which left a bad taste in my mouth.
  4. I think that makes sense. Arcadia's output is quite small compared to Yamato, and their prices have gone up. I always wanted a smaller high quality Garland, but I dont know if I can pull the trigger at these prices.
  5. I wish more companies would post transformation videos ahead of release. But in this case, I wouldnt have posted that video...
  6. Has there been a preview of the transformation?
  7. Pretty much wow.

  9. "We will never see another SV-51". Lets see, he may still be right about that!
  10. That's the key, I think. In general the anime industry needs better story and character development. You can have the odd production that is entertaining in other ways without a classic plot structure, but I dont think an entire industry can survive without the basics of good story telling.
  11. I think Arjuna is one of Kawamori's best work as a director.
  12. Without going all the way back to SDFM (since we are considered grumpy old foggies for even hoping), what are the chances the next Macross series even has as good a story and characters as Frontier?
  13. Some interesting discussion here and attempts at analysis. But given that M7 is aimed at kids, and given its "Gattai!!!!" hero style, I think a serious analysis of its contradictions would be futile. I didnt enjoy its repetitious aspects, and I would have prefered a higher mecha animation budget; but it would have been a rockin' series if condensed to 26 eps even without addressing my pet peeves about it. Overall, I think Basara is like a force of nature, and you cant really pin down his actions as "reasonable" in a normal sense and analyse too much. (I am agreeing with others here, it's not an original theory.) Love Basara, Love Mylene, Love Fire Bomber playing to Max and Miria in the stands any day. But keep repetitious Gattai and Macross separate.
  14. Looks awesome. Where's our video review? I just upload on Youtube and dont worry about the quality.
  15. I think there's a correlation between the number of new Garlands and my need to have one! But if I had to choose, Arcadia is the most trustworthy.
  16. I see. That makes sense.
  17. Which biography did you read? He was super popular during his lifetime. Both with the mass market and with elites. I have no problem comparing Macross/anime to Shakespeare or Charles Dickens, because they are all mass entertainment for their time. I just hope there is enough fan interest and that Kawamori will find it in his heart to redo SDFM.
  18. Of course, a Macross fan needs to actually work at the Airshow!
  19. Hi there RTK. Thats a fantastic scheme. Im zooming in on it, and its insane. And yeah, everything Pengbuzz does is pure Pengbuzz.
  20. So Kawamori isnt even thinking about it. Bummer. He wants to move forward with great works like Delta. George Lucas wants to move forward with great works like Phantom Menace. Well, I would just like to point out that Shakespeare always gave the fans what they want.
  21. As a teenager I wanted blue hair like Max.
  22. Well, we got Frontier after 7. So there is still hope for a well plotted structure with character development and a strong story. That's my minimum requirement for any genre of book, TV or movie. I dont mind if its kiddie or adult oriented, as long as the plot is strong.
  23. Awesome photo Derex. 45 now and I wish I was that kid back then. I would have given ANYTHING for a tansforming valk or SDF-1.
  24. Is that Made in Abyss?
