The 'Hey look at this really cool model build I saw' post

What am I seeing here? Is it possible? Shaking my head... It's unbelievable. I had to find the non-brain damage inducing stage: -
The little green box is a mobile bread board

Working on my airlock. Trying to add a bit more care scribing this one. The micro DPDT switch is a lot of fun to solder! I've have added two LEDs in series which attach to the two motor pins, so I get different color light depending on direction of the motor when airlock is opening and closing.

Can't believe I fell for this sh....

After a long year with the kids online school, and physio for my hands, I finally got back to my workbench. I'm adding a new motorized peek-a-boo airlock with a front view of my hangar. There will be a super secret diorama inside, if it all works out. I might need a kick in the pants from you guys to stop procrastinating!

I always try, but not sure I get such nice results

Mechtech, Great detail work as always. I look forward to seeing that internal cross section view. So cool! Derex, Always painful to see that Catseye! Hope it works out. As for Vallejo Air, I do a lot of practice sprays before hitting the model, not all paints are the same consistency out of the bottle; many colors will need extreme shaking, thinner and flow improver. They do smell wonderful, but the drawback is their thinning solution is not very strong, and bottles get clumpy fast, that's why I got a nail lacquer shaker.

Thom, Nice photography there. Urashiman, Interested to see what you do with that clunker. I'm sure with your experience it will look great. Keep the panel lines thin and any weathering to scale, and it will be better than Matchbox thought possible.

My motto is, just get it done. And I like your background.

Cool. Thanks for that. I actually like to see airbrushing in real time to understand how people lay down their paint. I would be afraid to spray with your technique. I always get splatter (or afraid I will), so I keep the air going, and pull back when I want paint.

Nice photoshop work for us old guys! Still waiting for mine, and glad I was able to sell my game version first.

Mechtech, Nice detail work. People are going to wonder where you bought that!

Exquisite work! Very delicate shades of paint, and the panel lines and cockpit are squeaky clean.

So has the electronics bug gotcha? (But I wouldn't solder on that cutting matt, or solder drops will melt holes in it.) Yeah stickers suck! Is that Bandai or Hasegawa? Maybe there are waterslides on Ebay.

Beautiful work Mechtech. It is lovelyto my eyes. Why shouldnt it win awards? It has such a nice concept and unique gimmicks that it made me smile.

I'm not sure that the model hobby will die completely. Look at Bandai and Gundam kits. They have gotten pretty mainstream among all kinds of fans. They are catering to the older crowd with revolutionary 3D engineering and materials. The kids market needs models of shows they like on tv now to get any share of their time away from online games. I can't get my kids to build any models, but it might be different if I had minecraft and fortnite kits or an Avengers ship to offer them. But military and WWII stuff is probably the hardest hit.
