  1. Repaint are a thing but most of them are D4Toys exclusives (they are available through BBTS). Most releases have been repainted at least once: Dark Star Saber, Dark Victory Leo, Shattered Glass Drift, SG Prime, SG Megatron Nemesis Prime, Power Burst Tarn. Of the top of my head, most of them were some sort of exclusive. SG Drift was a regular release but he also had different accessories while the others were straight repaints. No repaints so far: Jazz and Rodimus. They remolded Tarn into The Fallen The only mold that had two repaints was Optimus Prime as Shattered Glass and Nemesis. After a quick ebay scan aftermarket prices don‘t seem to be that outlandish between $100 and $200 above MSPR. Some limited releases like Power Burst Tarn seem impossible to come by. IIRC there was a silhouette of Thundercracker during the last trade show where Flame Toys showed new and upcoming product. So I would say it is likely but probably as some sort of exclusive. They usually don’t sell out immediately and they are usually available at BBTS. I have most of the Kuro Kara Kuri Transformers and I have gotten Starscream a couple of weeks ago, so if you have any questions let me know. [edit:] This is the picture I was mentioning. Not sure if this is real or a photoshop or if it is actually meant to be Thundercracker but at least it has a blue outline:
  2. @M'Kyuun I‘m on the exact opposite side I‘m very excited about this and how it transforms. Looking at this picture @Black Valkyrie posted Basara Prime hopefully be different than just a box under an aircraft. At least the legs will look like proper VF-19 engines. I‘m curious if and how the chest and arms will transform since I can’t spot joints that indicates a upper torso transformation. And I don’t see a way for the arms to move behind the central fuselage. I‘m confused why Takara felt the need to integrate truck parts into the design. Neither the Rathalos nor Shield-D Prime feature any truck parts. They just look like the thing from the franchise but it turns into a robot with an Optimus Prime head. However, with Basara Prime the designers felt the need to include chest windows, lower leg vents, and most perplexing of all, smoke stacks. Plus the revealed design looks nothing like the silhouette that was revealed in 2024. I wonder if BigWest or Kawamori took umbrage with the initial design and demanded changes. If you are interested I collected my thoughts why this is a Macross 7 x Prime crossover on the site that shall not be named: https://www.tfw2005.com/boards/threads/t-spark-zone-event.1271687/page-11#post-23045251
  3. I think this looks great. Can’t wait to see it in color and the alt-mode The reason why I think it looks great is because I expect a Legacy Needlenose reshell but this looks like it actually transforms into a jet and is not a box underneath a jet. The head also has some hinges on it so I wonder if they are there to flatten the head in jet-mode or maybe it is a Headmaster that transforms into Basara. The cockpit seems a bit small to house one but will see. I also love the guitar. I might buy to if the guitar is big enough for the Yamato Fire Valkyrie to hold. I find the inclusion of the truck parts odd. I mean it doesn’t seem to transform into a truck, so why have the smokestacks on the arms. I‘m ok with the chest design since it is not meant to be a VF-19 Battroid-Mode but a Transformer (i.e. a living organism).
  4. On the contrary, like Raiden, Predaking is tiny.
  5. Understood. From your explanation I can see why a designer would choose a established torso configuration. Maybe a symmetrical docking approach where each bot forms one side of the torso or Long Haul forms the upper torso to have wider shoulders from the extra mass could be interesting configuration, even if Devastator has the same torso bots.
  6. @mikeszekely do you think with Craner and Tipper being their usual self (i.e. the torso) do you think Mecha Invasion missed an opportunity do do something interesting with Devastator seeing how interesting the arms turned out?
  7. From the silhouette presented last year I think that is fair to assume that the alt-mode will be a jet.
  8. Saw this in my feed as well. Absolutely crazy build. I would like to know how it expensive it would be to source all the pieces.
  9. Just got billed for my HotToys Darth Revan from HLJ. This item was scheduled for release for 07/31/25. I don’t think I had a toy come in 7 months early. I thought I had some more time deciding if I want the toy or not. Guess it wasn’t my decision after all.
  10. Don‘t know about the chest gap. Was Hook‘s head black on the gray proto? It seems like a gap on the toy itself to me:
  11. Devastator is odd looking. The gap (?!?!) in his chest is even more off-putting now in color compared to the gray prototype. And why are the leg robots off center on the thighs? Is it a reference to the off center feet on the G1 combiners?
  12. I think it is also an availability my thing. When I got into anime in the mid nineties, I was glad about every new release because there was so little of it (to me Bubblegum Crisis and Plastic Little were the best thing since sliced bread because there was nothing like it in western media). Plus the companies licensing the titles in the West did already some curation for their customers, filtering out what was too derivative and focussing on the "classics" and titles already being successful in Japan (like Dragonball or Evangelion). On the other hand some of the less stellar titles were probably chosen by the western licensees because of novelty and shock value (like M.D.Geist or Urotsukidoji) Nowadays you can just watch everything of every season and filtering and curation is up to the viewer. Which is super tiring and not many people can do that.

  14. I think you can’t go wrong with MMC at the moment. I just got their Incertus (G1 Protectobot Groove) and he is such an awesome Transformer (not just a converting toy robot). Easily the best Transformers toy I bought this year. Fans Toys is currently really falling out of favor with me since their super G1 toon style is neither doing the character justice nor playing to the strength of Fans Toys fit and finish.
  15. Count me in as being unimpressed. Something gone missing from the original design. The original toy of the Blacktron Renegade had this big loading bay in the center of the ship that is missing from this picture. Also the original design had a think, swan neck connection between the main fuselage and the cockpit that is also missing here. Of course it is hard to tell from this one picture how the final toy will look like so my opinions can change. For example a container could be included that fit in the empty space in the middle or even the vehicle shown in the image. Still, while I think the Galaxy Explorer was an awesome recreation of the original toy, this is a miss to me. Doubly sad because I have no nostalgia for the Galaxy Explorer and all the nostalgia for Blacktron I. [edit:] Some more pictures from TFW: Still meh to me. But it looks a lot better in the picture on the box.
  16. Sure, Metal Builds tend to have more stylized designs and are mostly from non-UC timelines and. They have a metal frame and are usually fully painted. Chogokin Gundams are mostly action figures of designs already existing in the form of a Gunpla kit. The usually have softer sculpts (since some of them are upscaled) and less paint. Then there are Fixed Figuration Metal Composite Gundams which are Katoki Hajime designs. All of them are 7-8 inches tall (1/100 scale). Personally I enjoy the Metal Build line the most. I like the stylized, sharp sculpt and all the painted on details. They are usually hard to tell apart from pictures but seeing them in person the less intricate construction, duller sculpt and missing paint becomes more apparent. I would never trade my MB Freedom Gundam Concept 2 for the Chogokin one.
  17. I think the white plastic on the Arialbots looks horrible. It looks like they are cheap knockoffs. The details look so soft they almost look like Legends scale toys. I also think that Menasor was a better looking combiner but maybe I need to take a closer look at it again. I‘m also disappointed that they couldn’t come up with a better transformation scheme than a box under a plane for Silverbolt, especially when they outsourced all the combiner bits to Superions’s frame. If I get Megatronus I somehow have to remove the paint from the faceplate radiator. The way the "vents" are shaped it looks like a mouth instead of a faceplate. Plus the paint is much too bright. He looks like Emperor Zurg:
  18. This was not taken by me but it is probably my favorite aeronautical image of all time: I wonder if there is a way to get a high resolution version of that image. I would love to have a large, high quality poster of it on my wall (framed and all). One that I‘ve taken is probably this one because it was my "lifelong" (given the plane was introduced in 2005 and I‘m much older than that) dream of mine to fly on an A380.
  19. Every time I‘ve seen the abbreviation AOTP I think it stands for Attack of the Primes. I blame George Lucas for that.
  20. When the Full Saber set was revealed I was wondering if you need two sets to recreate the image below. The set only comes with one saber so I guess not….

  22. Thanks for the clarification, that makes a whole lot more sense that all the other explanations.
  23. China showed a mock-up of their 6th generation fighter jet called White Emperor: Looks like its straight out of Yukikaze or Ace Combat. Source: https://nationalinterest.org/blog/buzz/white-emperor-chinas-ngad-6th-generation-fighter-just-mockup-213772
  24. Really? In my mind the Soul of Chogokin line is the best of the best that Bandai Tamashii Nations has to offer. Granted I only own the SoC Gunbuster but it is mostly painted and looks great. The difference for me between Metal Build and Soul of Chogokin is that one is stylized and detailed (MB) while the other is screen accurate (SoC). So I would expect SoC Tryon 3 to be pretty screen accurate (which it is) but no extraneous markings (which it doesn’t have). But I would also expect to be fully painted. The problem is also that blue, red and yellow can easily look like plastic. They can be too translucent (red and yellow) swallowing fine details and easily show swirls and other imperfections especially when it has a glossy finish (blue). These colors are prevalent in the Tryon 3 which is why I would prefer a fully painted toy instead of bare plastic Of course I will reserve my final judgement until I have my copy in hand and as I said, the images from Hacchaka make it look quite alright.
