While the wings of my VF-171 weren't loose I was also able to push the pin a little bit further in. I had no problems with the pins detaching on their on so I was wondering if Bandai changed something on the pins since the problem of loose pins seems to occur less often. When rotating the cockpit into place it helps to push on the section behind the canopy because there you can apply force to free the cockpit from its peg.

I don't know if this scheme would play out well. I feel that toy collecting as an investment has the same problem as collecting comics for a payoff. Now everybody takes good care of their toys (and doesn't play with them ) so much more units will be available in the future reducing the value of the toy in the future. It's not like the early 80s where kids played with their Takatoku Valkys until they getting destroyed by a blow torch. As another negative side effect it seems that modern toys have a death clock implemented so they will self destruct in their boxes even if the were never taken out. So I don't know if this is a smart move. I could be wrong however. Maybe the bidder just recently (re-)discovered his love for Macross (dare I say Robotech?) and as a lot of play money.

So it is loose at the ball joint on the hip? The super glue fix should help. Check out this video on the YT. It might help

As for the VF-25G you can mount the sniper rifle in Fighter- and Gerwalk-Mode on a support strut that should be deployed when you get the toy out of its package and is attached to the aircraft . The other differences are the same with all of the Renewals vs. the V1s (higher sitting legs, metal colored feet, translucent parts in the nose of the plane, appropriate landing gear, second seat in the cockpit, etc.). Also the pilot figure should be in the box and not in the cockpit since the V1 toy had pilots that can't be removed iirc. If you don't want to mess with the toy the support strut for the gun and the removable pilot an empty cockpit should indicate that it is a Renewal toy. Also the V1 VF-25Gs have a lighter blue tinned cockpit canopy where the canopy of the Renewals is a deep purple color. So there should be a lot of indications if it's a Renewal toy. Check out jenius' website for comparison pictures. He has updated pictures for the Renewals as well as the V1s.

I hope for you that it is not the same with the 30th Anniversary Super Parts that it was with the YF-29 Alto Custom ones. Because their price skyrocketed after their initial release.

Oh no, I preordered the Armor Parts from BBTS because I knew no other shops besides BBTS and HLJ (and HLJ didn't offered them). Had I knew about Tokyo Hunter, Anime Export or NY it would saved me a lot of money. But a) it's only money and b) that is the price to pay if you're a noob. It helps that I really like those parts.

I don't know if you can easily replace the broken part with a new one because the pin seems to be glued into the backplate. Send them an email where you explain the subject matter and include some photos where they can see the broken part and wait for their response.

If it's a factory defect you should get in contact with HLJ and ask them if they can send you a replacement unit. Usually they are one of the shops that try to solve such issues. Duymon I store my extra parts in those small cylinders where film for analog cameras where stored in. Don't know if people still know what that is. And I think that a VF-171CF with gray armor plates on its Super Parts would look vastly superior to the Princess Custom.

I think scalpers looking also for uninformed people with money. After getting into collecting foreign toys I needed some time to learn all the little "secrets" and finding the important information sources (and I'm still learning and discovering). I know now that I over-payed for a lot of loot (VF-25 Renewal Super and Armor Parts *cough*). Fun times.

For diversities sake I would still go for Kakizaki that poor sod.
-
I would rather go for a full DYRL? Skull Squadron then another CF. Personally I'm not a hoarder so buying the same toy twice is not an option for me.

Is the finger still poised above the panic button Graham? *hope*

Yes really lucky. I forget sometimes the taxes and fees and realizing later that I had to add another ~25% on top of the item + shipping. It is expensive to have exquisite tastes. *add English Sir Meme here*

Thanks. Can't access their website right now. Seems like their shop interferes with the content filter. At least they let me listen to Fire Bomber at work. Holy Lonely Night *sing*

There is a Sweets & Bikini Version mentioned in the tweets. Does this mean we get VF-1 dressed up with an over sized Meldrandi bikini?

If you're referring to my post I apologize if I offended you. What I was trying to say is that in my own experience I have many transforming toys where I have problems transforming it the first couple of times (say the first 5 to 10 attempts). After I memorized the correct movement and position of parts it becomes easier. Also I get a feeling of how much pressure and force I can apply to certain areas without breaking them. The first time I tried to transform my First Edition Bumblebee back and forth I had a hard time now I can do it in no time and that is a toy made to be handled by kids. And to be honest during the first transformation of the CF I was swearing a lot about the cockpit support strut, the loose hip assembly and the backplate that refused to lock correctly into place. I had watched transformation guides on YT a million times and tried to memorize crucial parts of the transformation. I thought I know exactly what to do and I was wrong. Of course the toys that we collect are a whole other world then mainstream toys you can buy at TRU. My Valkyries don't get nearly as much play time then other toys mainly because the fear of breakage. I myself have problems when I transform a complex toy once every month or even more infrequent. I don't get used to it. Not saying you don't know how to transform your toys just saying that for me it gets easier after several transformations and that complex transformations is one of the trade-offs of highly articulated and screen accurate toys. A convoluted transformation scheme like the one from the VF-171 doesn't become suddenly straight forward but you get used to its quirks. I also can understand why someone doesn't like the toy because of this.

The 25th is the release date but also Saturday. I assume they start shipping on the Monday after. Can't wait though! In my opinion the Anniversary Super Parts look way better then the Alto ones. Mainly because I think the purple thrusters on Altos VF look out of place. In my soul there is still a spark of hope that they are not shipping the Super Parts with the white skull markings. I also gave up on the idea of modding the dorsal fins with Skull and Crossbones because even after I trimmed the Stickers for my VF-17S they still look terrible and those skulls are no triangles or circles.

Is Lego releasing something special in the Star Wars line? I'm still hoping for a reissue of this Millenium Falcon that is in scale with the Minifigs. On topic: What is a good price for a VF-22S Max Type at the moment? I saw one on Mandarake but I never ordered from them so I don't know what to expect. I know that they sell second hand toys.

I know the word awesome is overused but this looks definitely... quite good. Duymon transform your army and wage Variable Fighter war against lesser toys!

Certainly true and companies don't move if the customer doesn't forward complaints. On the other hand I personally think that the VF-171 is not as bad as this thread makes it and I'm a thousand times happier with a complex transformation that is more then flip out legs flip out arms flip up and turn head finished is your transformer (yay). I also think that Bandai is hitting it out of the park with the Frontier line. Sure the distribution sucks (still good enough for us dirty gaijin ) but other than that the toys are fantastic.

I don't know why everyone has such a bad time transforming it. Modern Valkyires can be transformed in a breeze. Sure parts fly of left and right and sometimes even crack of or disintegrate but that's ok, I just threw them in the trash bin and grab another one from the dispenser. Seriously sure some parts of the VF-171 are hard to transform at first but if you get used to it and know how parts have to be moved you're fine. As a kid I always dreamed about complex transformations and that my transforming toys look like in the cartoon/comic. Now that we are at a point where we can have screen accuracy were bitching about transformation schemes. To a point you can't have the one without the other. Could it be better? Yes! If you look at the VF-17 from Yamato. But this toy has it's own set of problems where the Bandai toy shines so it boils down to a trade off. I love my VF-17 but somethings of this mold could be done better and it is the same with the VF-171. My advice. Take your time, learn the transformation scheme and enjoy the toy while playing with it. It will fall apart soon enough.
