Well Hasegawa's VF-1 fighter mode is pretty terrible. However the VF-1 was never meant to be chunky, just sometimes its proportions were exaggerated. They figured this out back in 1983 :3

Has anyone considered making a fan made Macross Game?
VF5SS replied to leading edge's topic in Games
that's a pretty blatant ripoff of the Saturn game and the SNES/Genesis Mechwarrior 3050 game. -
I think all the Macross series are pretty on the level, story wise. The original has just as many things never followed up on and weird decisions in the writing as the later ones. Don't get Gubaba started on the Disciples of Zor Supervision Army ship :v

Why would anyone want to use the same old mono audio tracks?

I think they just find us. Must be all this gorgeous delicious Macross we're all enjoying. 30 years strong ( 'w') b

I am the invaluable Veef. -
Probably should have just posted this to show the durability

Well you used the phrase "shape historic events" right? So using the Force does exactly that. Even if you just take the original trilogy, it's part of shaping the world. They may be among us right now.

So are you happy with the product, overall?

If you say so. It's all the same fanfiction expanded universe crap that Star Wars does. Just because you like it doesn't mean it's this untapped marketable epic multi-generational saga. Well I don't know. I think the CHOSEN ONE who became an asthmatic cyborg who killed a lot of people and helped some wizard build a planet destroying planet which is then destroyed by the cyborg's son who is using the Force to do so might be kind of historic. An historic event.

So it's still pretty much the same because the script is based on the original Japanese dialog (with more Carl Macek approved smarmy quips and people talking slowly) and then they added generic sci-fi stuff you can find in dozens of other books. No one cares about expanded universe books. They're cheap to make and only fans buy them. Same with table top RPGs. All they do is given people fanfic fodder and turn them into pedantic idiots. So it's the Force from Star Wars. Great. PS are you 1st Border Red Devil in disguise or just some other Palladium refugee?

Or watch people like my play with it on youtube. Stroking it slowly. -
Most of that is just retreading existing material, isn't it? Robotech taking someone else's work and claiming to improve it. Tsk tsk

Well I judge people based on what Gundam shows they like so I won't judge you for being entertained by SC. It's hard to discuss SC because it's the most generic sci-fi pilot episode I've ever seen. Plot holes and trouble with the production aside, it has nothing going for it other than being attached to an established property.

And Macross Plus Game Edition maaaaaaaaaaaaan and that its own version of VF-X2 I was thinking more of the chest intakes and having visible fins on the forearms but yeah the VF-17 is similar. Hey they're both from General Galaxy. Making shady products since 2032.

They just have similar parts placement in fighter mode. If I recall, Kawamori mentions in the interview section of Macross Design Works that the VF-5000 was originally something from Advanced Valkyrie (non Macross precursor to Plus I believe) before he repurposed it as a Macross design. Kawamori says it is based on the MiG-29 if you believe that. Aramaki's Legioss seemed to be more based on more general sci-fi fighter jet designs. If you check the Imai Files (it's an online PDF of pre-production artwork), the Legioss started pretty crazy until it was refined to the final look. Honestly they're only generally similar. If you wanted to call Kawamori a plagiarist like some people Gubaba knows, you'd have an easier time saying Kawamori copied the Legioss with the YF-21 since there's more similarities there in terms of mechanics :3
