You're gonna have to translate the rest of that if you want us to understand the whole picture regarding Dragonar. And you can still find other genres today as well. That's pretty fictional and has airplanes which count as mecha. The part about Dragonar which you just made up :v To be frank, the whole "bring back the OVA market" thing is tiresome. There's been plenty of truly creative works made after the 80's. Just not a lot of generic sci-fi action pieces that play out like the terrible computer games of the time. You aren't going to fix the industry by making more Kawajiri stuff that only appeals to the same creepy nerds looking for crazy demontechnology infused sexcapades.

You have yet to plunge the depths of moe. Honestly I think Mome from Orguss rates higher than Ranka. When I was at Anime Boston, I showed off the "hidden" Itasha Ranka Lee cover for the VF-25 Master File to some people, including a Ranka cosplayer. She said she loved Frontier and Ranka but didn't care too much about the robots :3 :3 Honestly I don't think we can leave out nostalgia entirely as in my experience, many old school fans are rather willfully ignorant of the kind of things that were commonplace even during the golden era of the 1980's. I feel like some are overestimating the number of "magic bullets" for general audience appeal that can come out of Japan at any given time.

The hinge is designed to work as plastic. Metal wouldn't have the necessary flex and would grind down the support tab for Gerwalk and Battroid mode. Besides the Polyamide is super strong :3

Honestly I don't really see a great shift from the fundamentals in most anime made these days.

The VF-14 and Fz-109 are of course based on the SR-71 and did manage to shorten the neck through a series of folding joints :3 Your P-38 is pretty neat, dial. Definitely several steps up from the old P-38 Gobot named Bolt.

Episode III was still pretty mediocre even if it was the best of the PT but I digress. I think both Zero and Froniter are solid entries in the franchise and great series in general. For all their problems they are a cut above much of the competition in the robot anime genre and I think are a good indicator that Macross is still going strong.

If you have to force yourself to watch something, then don't do it because you probably won't enjoy it. However I think the reputation built around 7 is wholly undeserved. Macross fans are their own worse enemy.
