The D'Stance kit managed to do it all pretty well. But when you get down to it a tiny resin kit has the advantage of small joints and thin parts. And the Yamato's legs don't look small in person and seem pretty good with the rest of the body. It's just the backpack that throws it all off.
The extra missiles were a last minute addition by animated Ichirou Itano. He was actually trying to keep things more consistent. There's some lineart of it somewhere.
