I still don't see why fanboys are fighting tooth and nail over Robotech especially in light of the originals being so readily available. A lot of people trying to act like the mindless middle just say they're not that different. So really what are the fans defending? The people in charge barely acknowledge all of that mindless extended universe crap save for some vague poo scrawled on a napkin by Carl Macek. The show itself barely has any of this generational epic crap the fans keep raving about. I just don't get what these people care about. I have to agree with Daryl Surat's assessment. Robotech fans just aren't human beings anymore.

See the Big West sticker. Even the DVD jacket for the Japanese release markets it as part of the Super Dimension Saga along with Macross and Orguss. You can even find Southern Cross on Big West's website. I think the situation is reversed with Southern Cross. All of the design work was done by Tatsunoko's design studio, Ammonite and it was animated by Tatsunoko with Big West handling the production and marketing side. It may only apply to Japan, but Tatsunoko clearly does not have total control over Southern Cross like it does Mospeada.

You know for 200 bucks those missiles should look like lame plastic nipples. Even the first Yamato armored set wasn't that bad.

"Reflex" is just a poor translation of the word "hannou" meaning reaction or response. In Macross weapons of a nuclear nature are called "hannou heiki" or reaction weapon.

No, Robotech does not work. The way Macross does it is probably the best way it is avoids one of the biggest problems with sequels in a long running franchise in where the same small core of people are doing everything important whenever the galaxy is threatened. Admittedly, Frontier and Zero do come uncomfortably close to making this mistake.

I mean come on the thing is a convention exclusive that isn't even indicative of the product itself. Also the QC was pretty bad.
