  1. Would that big door flap be such a hazard? Its still quite minute in surface area compared to the side fuselage profile or tail fins.
  2. I don't think Airwolf, BlueThunder and Thunder in Paradise had cartoons either? Maybe 'super-vehicle' shows get left out.
  3. I loved this series when I was a kid. Although it didn't have big guns and missiles and gatlings etc etc, it had a unique charm. I particularly liked the Orchestra like theme music that sometimes plays in the background.
  4. Uhmm, how about "The material of the blade acts as a catalyst for the reaction that neutralizes the acid when it is exposed to air in the presence of the catalyst"?
  5. I was referring to the 'boxy' look it had in the cartoon. See 0:27-0:30 in the clip.
  6. His Ninja like supersense of hearing could probably act like a counter-fire director? So he can just burp in the approximate direction? BTW, what does a 16/50 sound like from 40,000 yards away? Is it audible to a human ear?
  7. The Toho Studios version of Godzilla? Even ninety 406mm shells aren't going to do anything except piss him off. The Hollywood 'Zilla? I think even a properly piloted Apache could take him down with the 30mm chain gun and a 120mm sabot from a MBT would go through its skull and out the other side.
  8. The current Corvette is a fine choice. It maintains the general sleek look of the original K.I.T.T. A boxy Wheat Burner is just not K.I.T.T. it looks more suitable for a life action MASK movie.
  9. Sound proofing, Sat nav systems, 24 way electric seats, heated windows/mirrors/seats, climate control, airbags all over the sides, 14 speakers + 2 subwoofers, electric rear head rests, electric tilt/slide/flip sun/moonroofs, variable geometry rear spoilers/diffusers, 20 inch rims, auto levelling and swivelling headlamps etc etc These all add up to a significant few hundred kilos. Plus the fact that the cars got wider and longer.
  10. Yeah, it reminded me of some Sesame Street muppet.
  11. Its probably the 4wd that makes that half-sec difference on take-off. But once the cars are up to speed, say 40mph to 100mph, the 600bhp Aston should smoke the GT-R (esp. since the GT-R is heavier).
  12. A pair of turbochargers? kerb weight <1600kg. I like. I had enough of these ever porkier performance cars.
  13. Small Gods is a brilliant book. My favourite Discworld story. Followed by the first 2 Night Watch stories.
  14. Right! And you chaps did just that by practically wrapping the Nene up in a ribbon and gifting it to the Soviets.
  15. The gloss blue on the pics are nice. Hope the production version is similar. No previous valk has such a nice deep/lush colour. I guess this is painted? The production one will have coloured plastic which won't look anywhere near the pics.
  16. Rapier immediately brings back memories of a Blue Haired Pilot in VGA graphics with 8 bit music in the background. BTW, how did the Mustang get named as such? Its a bit of an odd one out. I thought the 'Gray Ghost' name that was associated with the YF-23 was rather neat. For the F-22, I would have named it Warhawk II.
  17. I demand a GLAUG! Someone please tell Yamato that Classic Battletech fans will lap em up as well?
  18. Well, I think that bunker buster bombs can hit harder than even the 16/50 rifle. But with Godzilla, his Atomic Burp has been shown to be accurate and long ranged enough to hit incoming planets/comet (Godzilla : Final Wars). So you will have to be hidden by the Earth's curvature to be at real 'stand-off' range. But for monsters with no ranged attack, AC-130s would mince em. The Hollywood Zilla would have been minced if AC-130s or A-10s got him in sight.
  19. I guess when Mr Stompy has devastated an entire city and even the 16/50 rifle, bunker busters and MOABs fail to stop it, it would make sense to try some tac nukes before another half dozen cities get flattened. Or maybe try some singing by a teenage Chinese restaurant waitress?
  20. My 'Perfect' Godzilla/monster movie would have the Army/Airforce/Navy throw EVERYTHING at the monster. EVERYTHING. Start by local red-necks and cops shooting small arms. Of course nothing happens except squashed/toasted humans. The Army gets called in. M16s, Bushmasters, Apaches with Hellfires and tanks with 120mm guns. MLRS and M110s on screen with proper sound effects would be great. All bounce off. We get to see MBTs get toasted by Atomic Monster Breath. Airforce comes in, dumps shitloads of AGMs and GBUs and MOABs. We see pretty fireworks and more Atomic Monster Breath. Switches to stand-off weapons to escape Bad Breath range. C'mon, who does not want to see a squadron of A-10s have a go at Godzilla with the Avengers? Navy jumps in with its missiles and naval rifles too. (I'd assume they never retired the Iowa class ships for this movie) Basically, just a fan-service to see the entire Defence Industry catalogue of weapons line up on screen one-by-one. Then have the Top Brass argue about using nukes on home soil. But I don't have any idea on how to end the movie.
  21. I suppose we can try to explain that by saying, well, if there was a 400ft tall fire-spewing, building crunching lizard/bug/mushroom, we wouldn't want to get within stompin distance would we? F-15E Strike Eagle's with GBU-15s seem like a better idea than foot soldiers. Oh, and I have always wanted to see AC-130 gunships blast away at Godzilla type monsters. Plleeeeezee include that! Just look at the delicious list of mayhem you could include in the movie! I don't care if it bounces of the monster. It'll look cool! 22. I don't think a Mustang can catch a Tu-95. IIRC, the Tu-95 can outrun even an Me-262. Sabre probably could, but the pilot still has to give it some effort.
  23. Same can be said of virtually all weapons. The vehicle is just a carrier for the weapon. You McGuyver an AMRAAM onto a P-40 and it'll take out a Tu-95 just the same. Stick a modern 120mm gun onto a PzIV chassis and it'll take out a modern tank.
  24. Not commenting on China's future potential (if you must know, I think militarily they are still far, far off from catching up with the US. All those Pentagon 'warnings' remind me of the 'Bomber Gap' again). As for your above comment, well, that could roughly apply to Persia, Turkey, Egypt, Greece, Mongolia, England and even Spain! (if you discount the 4000 years. I don't think even China dominated for 4000 years. They weren't even united until about 200BC)
