Retracting Head Ter Ter replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Thanks, the wonders of the internet! http://legacycentral.org/library/literature/deck.htm I never even knew they made open-deck blocks. To me, engine blocks were always solid lumps like the first pic! Why bother with that flimsy looking open-deck crap! It looks shite! My view of Subaru has dimmed! Back to the 2.5 vs 2.0. Well, the 2.5 STi is not an option for me as it never went into the Legacy. The main reason why I want a JDM 2.0t is because I wanted the manual box. The #$%%! local distributor only brings in Autos. BTW, could you verify this last bit of info? Apparently, the 2.5T also does not come with the aluminium suspension bits while the JDM does. Sounds strange to me that Subaru would make 2 different sets of suspension. I thought ALL the legacies would use the same aluminium gubbins. Thanks! -

I am actually in Singapore and the #$%! distributor only brings in the non-JDM spec 2.5 single AVCS single scroll. I can import a non-distributor 2.0 Dual AVCS Twin Scroll. I think the current BL5 Legacy never had a twin-turbo in any guise. Only choice is between JDM twin-scroll and non-JDM 'single scroll'. My dilemma is that I like the extra 500cc in displacement but not sure if its worth giving up the twin-scroll (not twin turbo) and Dual AVCS for it. I have the curves for the JDM 2.0T but I don't have the 2.5T graph to compare torque curves with (any chance you have it? The USDM 2.5T should be identical to what I have here since both do 250hp). I know the JDM 2.0t is 276hp vs 250hp for the 2.5t but I am more concerned with the torque curve rather then that last fistful of horsepower at 5000-7500rpm. Thanks! Now I just have to find out WTF is open-deck and close-deck and whatnot. -

Hey dude, so any comments on the Legacy? -
I landed one! Can't wait for it to get here. Might take up to a month though. http://page5.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/e73371770

Hmm, it might take time to bring in tanks and ground troops but if you can get several F-18s and a B-2 overhead, you sure as heck can bring on 24 Hornets and 12 B-2s. Its the only way to be sure.

XB-70 I think. -
Pros and Cons : Pros : Its a PROPER MOVIE MONSTER! Yes, no Namby Pamby 'Zilla (that wimpy lizard from the Hollywood 'Godzilla') who gets punked by a couple of missiles. This bad 'mofo gets clobbered by rifles, AT weapons, tank cannons and the USAF but keeps on mowing! Cons : That damn handheld POV. Made me sick. The limited POV also stops the military hardware fetish from getting to see better angles of all that military hardware flailing uselessly at the monster (like those Japanese Godzilla films). The characters are nothing really worth remembering but hey, its a Monster movie! Edit: Oh, and whats this I see on Wiki? Manga adaptation A four installment manga series by Yoshiki Togawa titled Cloverfield/Kishin (クローバーフィールド/KISHIN, Kurōbāfīrudo/KISHIN?) is being released by Japanese publisher Kadokawa Shoten.[30] The story focuses on a Japanese high school student named Kishin and will be a prequel to the film.[31]

Good luck on the speed humps! I think Masamune Shirow had something like that in one of the Appleseed comics back in the late 80s? -

Trust me, the amount you save on a car in the US is enough to cover your toy purchases 100x over. You pay less for gasoline too! -

I actually wanted to wait it out for re-colour or ver2 in order to avoid QC problems. But I was stunned by the 230sgd price and committed on the spot. (I was there to pick up my HMM Genosaurer, not buy Macross stuff). Nearly 20% off retail. Its even cheaper then it sounds (155usd) due to the recent USD drop. 1 year ago, it would translate to about 140usd. -

I am in Singapore. One of the local shops is selling it at 280sgd but 230sgd on pre-order. So its 155usd. No shipping since its 5 mins drive from my home. *ok I am not so well known around here but I didn't expect you lot to jump at the price mention since there are quite a lot of MWers in Asia. -
Well, the way to mitigate that is to buy gold. I wanted to go in when it was at about 600. What a miss!

Don't think its meant for the Asian market aside from the 2 stars. Its the old Hollywood 'White man goes to exotic country to save the natives while hooking a native chick' formula. -

Just saw the new GT-R in the flesh. In black. Looks better than in the pictures. Looks bigger and wider then the paper dimensions would suggest too. Its a nice car but I find the build quality/materials not up to the higher end Audi/VWs' level (but probably more reliable). The brake calipers are HUGE. Guess they need to be, seeing how heavy the damn thing is. -

Some more on the GT-R. Are those sneaky Nissan chaps underdeclaring hp again? I don't think 1 dyno test is conclusive but it does answer the nagging question of how 480hp is enough to propel 1740kg to a 3.5 sec sprint timing. Maybe the new gentleman's agreement is at 480-500 hp? http://www.nissangtrproto.com/ I suppose another way to look at it is that they are being 'honest'. Its the 'real' hp they are declaring. -

Was it all the result of 'Engrish'? In that case, was the opening credits re-done for the English version with revised footage? Since it spells out 'Thunderbird' 1/2/3 etc at the opening credits.- 17 replies

Even as a kid, I found it amusing that the great big rocket powered space shuttle thingmagij will blast off at the same time as the submarine sets sail and both will appear at the destination at the same time.- 17 replies
