The Unlicensed Third Party Transformers Thread
Valkyrie Hunter D replied to slaginpit's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Yeah, I reckon Sunstreaker would be a prime candidate for a 3rd party figure. I still have some hope that Takara would make their own toy of Mirage though. Does your Revoltech Megatron need company? Check out these Revoltech style 'cons.- 9268 replies

I can only hope that a MP Jazz would look just as good as this Wheeljack. I'm real curious about that weird seam on his chest though.- 17085 replies

Armarauders-Toy Line with Comics
Valkyrie Hunter D replied to Valkyrie Hunter D's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Progress with the toy line is painfully slow, but the Armarauders FB page hints at a collaboration with Sentinel, and maybe even some news during the Winter Wonder Festival in Japan. -

This little beauty came in today. I was worried about the paint quality for Smokescreen, but that fear was put to rest after a quick inspection; the colors are vibrant and applied neatly with little abberations. His joints are rather tight though, much tighter than Prowl's. Of note is that Smokescreen doesn't have the hollow shoulder cannon mounts like those found on Prowl. He instead has small, extendable blue nubs for his unique shoulder blasters. So far TakaTomy is 3 for 3 with the latest MPs!- 17085 replies

Riobots by Sentinel
Valkyrie Hunter D replied to Valkyrie Hunter D's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Nee ha! Bloodia finally arrived from HLJ. SAL is cheap but it sure does take its sweet time. This thing is better than I expected. Included with the figure are the cannon shield, two hands with articulated fingers, the beam "bit", a square base, and an articulated stand. Good heft, neat paint applications, and great joint engineering make for one awesome toy to fiddle around with. My only complaint is that sometimes the right arm comes off the shoulder joint too easily, and that the seams are very blatant on the legs and shoulders. Blodia's very easy to pose and the joints are tight enough to hold some precarious positions. Bottom line, this figure is a real joy to behold especially for one who likes industrial, stocky mecha.- 465 replies

Those elevator shoes on MP Grimlock look plain dumb, there's no way I'd be slapping those clod kickers on my MP-08. I think they look even worse on his back. If that's FT's solution to keep Grimmy taller, then it's probably too late to hope that they would shrink down their Slag. That being said, FT's Slag looks cool, and I wouldn't it being a little taller than Grimmy.- 9268 replies

Finally got MP Prowl ($60 shipped with the launcher-not too bad!). He's great, really makes the G1 fanboy in me squeal with glee. The only thing I had an issue with is the thick layer of white paint on his head; it's not evenly applied and results in a bump on his forehead. Despite that, it's a wonderful toy and gives me a lot of faith in the upcoming MPs.- 17085 replies

Yeah, and it makes for a killer toy. It's definitely not lineart accurate compared to Figueroa's design, but it's close enough. I know a group called Master Collectables made a far more accurate version of Nova Prime, but it was more expensive and only a few actually made it to production. As far as MMC's version is concerned, rumor has it that it may not even be made.- 9268 replies

Finally got some time to take a few pics of HyperNovae. Once I made sense of the transformation and got everything to lock together, it's a pretty solid toy. Paint apps are neat, plastic quality is superb and the material feels durable. Needless to say, with the wings on it gets top heavy, but I was able to get it to stand on its own in that fourth pic. Included were transparent orange parts that can be inserted into the wing recesses, but I haven't put them on yet. Also included were silver stickers that may be used instead of the orange parts. I still don't know if I should the stickers, the orangey bits, or both .- 9268 replies

Kawamori himself designed that thing. Despite the less than stellar alt mode, it's a pretty cool toy for its size.- 17085 replies

Mine is this one; unashamedly sweet and syrupy: Since we're dealing with this era, here is my favorite rendition of THIS song; Sumner sings in a slightly more melodramatic fashion compared to the album cut:

Sad news indeed, and he was only 66 years old. His books kept me company all those years ago when I was waiting to be picked up from school at the library. Many thanks Mr. Clancy.

They can if TakaTomy never makes updated combiners, or an Arcee, or updated Shockwave, etc. I just wonder if MP Magnus will stick with the G1 formula of having a white Prime "core" or none at all. Heh, now this rejected storyboard from the movie can be recreated: Nevermind, we still don't have a MP Tracks .- 17085 replies

Dang, if it's gonna be anything to close to that artwork, it'll look so much better than any of the 3rd party offerings.- 17085 replies
