All Things Videogame Related: EXTREME VS!!

More XCOM is always good, it's definitely on my radar. Speaking of strategy games, remember Ring of Red? Iron Harvest definitely reminds me of it. Man, if only Front Mission had this kind of treatment.- 6861 replies

Gawd these Combaticons are huge, which means Onslaught will be immense! I'll have to pass on 'em until I hear about their combined form, but the guys you've covered look great. I'm crossing my fingers that their Silverbolt will be ace.- 9268 replies

The Unlicensed Third Party Transformers Thread

I got to tinker with DNA's Susanoo today. Just like a bunch of others I read about, my Susanoo has orange paint chipped off from his feet right out of the box. The instructions were unclear on certain steps, so I had to watch a video to clear things up. Closer examination reveals how flimsy a few of the parts are, like the linkages for the tank treads and hinges for the panels found on the forearms and lower legs. It's a PITA to get him in tank mode for sure. Every panel has to be leveled perfectly and tabbed up. Once that's done, you just have to pray the tension doesn't cause the hull to degrade into a pile of loose panels. And if one isn't careful, I could easily see the nubs and tabs used to hold parts together snapping off. Be advised that his helmet crest may rub on the forearms during transformation, resulting in gold paint getting chipped off. Once I was able to clip the treads together and made sure all the parts were properly attached, Susanoo makes a decent looking tank. The trials and tribulations of getting Susanoo into his alt mode certainly does not distract from the menacing spectacle he makes in bot mode. In short, I love his bot mode. Even if you didn't know who Bludgeon is, it would be hard to not appreciate the melding of a mechanized samurai and his spirit vehicle. DNA's intrepetation of Bludgeon is a love letter to RotF's Voyager toy, right down to the tank turret that opens up to hold his short swords. All the joints are solid enough to easily replicate the poses on the box, making for a dynamic range of motion. There is a limitation with his upper legs though. The way his torso is structured doesn't allow his thighs to swing backward, so Susanoo will not be doing any punting in the immediate future. Would I recommend him? If you like the design as much I do, I say go for it. Just be warned that a little more care and patience than usual will be required to get him in tank form.- 9268 replies

I think if the trailer is integrated into Prime's bot mode, he'd just be too chunky to remain his svelte self. Besides, where would Roller go?- 9268 replies

It's cool that Boeing likes to have fun. I know if I was the pilot, I would drawn something far more juvenile. -

I just saw this listing on BBTS: MP-40. I wonder if it's just gonna be their previous MP Hot Rod with a little re-tooling.- 17085 replies

Best In Anime Singing Girls
Valkyrie Hunter D replied to JetJockey's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Aside from the singers in everything Macross, I can't think of a lot right off the top of my head. Eve's songs in MZ 23 Pt. 2 are great, and Priss will always be a fave for me. How about Orange Road's Madoka Ayukawa? Sure she's not presented as a singer many times, but when she is, it's made clear she has tremendous talent as a singer. -

I just wanted to heap more praise upon FansToys' Phoenix which I finally received from a massive Pile O Loot. I think it was Scyla who called it a white beast. With a wingspan of approximately 17", that is the absolute truth. For me, Skyfire's appeal was that he became such a blocky, goony looking bird. In that respect, FT has accurately captured Skyfire's alt mode. Phoenix is a solid transformer and if you ever wanted Skyfire in toy form, Phoenix is the one to get.- 9268 replies

Beefy Captain - Liefeld would be proud! I'll be getting him along with Wolvie. Magneto was a surprise. My only beef with him (and other Revoltechs with a flowing cape) is the ball jointed mess that goes with the cape.

It's definitely a different Garland, and if the price is good, I'll bite.

Wow, Mospeada getting some love. That ride armor will be mine, although the ET Legioss will need some tweaking before I decide to buy.

That's just the thing, I don't have the proper skills to mod the thing into a more dynamic, fixed pose. If I was going to do something that foolhardy, I might as well just take it one step further by cutting up the armor pieces and sticking them onto an articulated inner frame to make an action figure.
-
Its pose is not even that great. If it was throwing a strike of some sort I'd get one to dance with my Ingrams, but as it is, it's just boring. It's got me thinking though: how would one go about dissecting it and using the pieces for a custom "skeleton" of sorts to make a full action custom figure. Maybe by using a MG Gundam kit internal frame and cloth bits for the joints? Meh, just another expensive project I'd have no time for.

That was a total nostalgia bomb. Thanks for reminding me of how old I truly am.
