  1. Mr. Woodhead's latest update: "We have received most of the raw film transfers from Japan (just a few minor elements yet to come) and the work of massaging them has begun. We've also received almost all of the artwork and settei and are assembling them into the artbook. First drafts of the subtitles will be going out to the proofreading team early next month. In other news, Natsumi is currently in Japan and is meeting Mikimoto-sensei at an undisclosed location to discuss the new Macross II artwork." It's slowly coming together.
  2. Looking foward to this one, it has Stephen King's seal of approval.
  3. After some scares with Amazon JP (I got a couple of messages saying the game can't be shipped out of Japan), they came through and it arrived today. It's disappointing that the latest Macross game is just a two dimensional shooter, but it's better than no Macross game I guess.
  4. Just remember, Cat's Eye did it first:
  5. McDonald's is taking the ball with WcDonald's and running with it. I don't advocate fast food very much, but the new ginger sauce for the nuggets is tasty.
  6. I thought it was sweet that Toriyama had a message to his children in one of the endings of Chrono Trigger:
  7. Toriyama died a legend. The entire world knows Dragon Ball Z, inspring fight scenes even in Hollywood. His work on Dragon Quest helped create the JRPG genre and his mechanical designs are timeless. His works will continue to inspire. R.I.P.

  9. I got this one a couple of months ago from Brickmania and just completed it today: It makes for a solid Huey toy and the printed markings are superb. Although I did reduce the mass on the rudder and made the tail boom a little thicker. The guns and rockets are custom parts Brickmania included in the kit. The minifig aircrew is quite notable. Brickmania doesn't explicity say it, but the crew is a crack commando unit that will later be sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn’t commit. These men would promptly escape from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. They'll be wanted by the government, and survive as soldiers of fortune. And if there was any doubt: The cherry on top for me is the extra, printed sedated face:
  10. That Batman cape looks like a huge improvement over the multi-piece ball jointed one on their last Batman figure.
  11. My faves tend to be on the low side of the power scale like the AV-98 Ingram from Patlabor, the Zenith Wanzer from Front Mission, and Garlands from Megazone 23.
  12. Just preordered the next ICONS kit, A. Senna's Mclaren MP4:
  13. I will miss seeing him in movies, thanks for all the good times.
  14. Light gun games on a non-CRT tv? I want to believe.
  15. The Skyraider looks great. It's disappointing to hear about the Corsair not having functional landing gear though, and that's quite unusual for a BV kit.
  16. Upgrades to be added tonight: "Tier One : Customized Personal Shikishi - $2000 (limit of 10) These shikishi are created specifically for the recipient and are completely unique. They are hand-drawn and colored by Mikimoto-sensei, and the recipient can make suggestions as to the content which the artist will take into consideration when creating the artwork. The subject matter must be Macross II-related. In some cases there may be some back-and-forth discussions before the artist settles on an acceptable design. Tier Two : Semi-Customized Limited Edition Shikishi - $800 (limit of 30) These shikishi will all use the same base drawing, which will be created exclusively for use in this tier. The core line art and base hair and skin color work will be printed on shikishi boards, and then the artist will individually color the clothing and background of each shikishi before inscribing and signing/numbering them. Tier Three : Limited Edition Printed Shikishi - $300 (limited to one per project backer) These shikishi will all use the same new fully detailed and colored drawing (so they will have the same level of detail as the other tiers) but are fully printed reproductions. As with all the other shikishi, they will be personally inscribed and signed/numbered by the artist. Note that this tier will not use the same base drawing as tier two! Mikimoto-sensei wants to get input from interested backers about possible design suggestions for the Tier Two and Three drawings. So opine away in the comments. He has also told us that he intends to use the Tier Two and Three artwork to experiment with drawing on a computer in the shikishi style, which should result in something very interesting indeed!" Attached are examples from the Megazone 23 Kickstarter: Very pricey upgrades, and yet very tempting...
  17. FFXVI is visual feast for the PS5. It's definitely a more action oriented RPG compared to something more traditional like the Tales series. I found the story quite enjoyable, but the "crafting" element is useless imo. In any case, it's a great title to showcase the PS5's visual prowess, especially with the boss battles.
  18. The 1st remake is gonna get some free single player and multiplayer content: I think I'm almost done with the FM2 remake. It's a difficult game for sure. Much harder than the first game. It just seems like the RNG has a bias for enemy actions.
  19. Lovin it, both the Einhander and your starship collection!
  20. Coming next year, a new Nendoroid :
  21. Minus One is coming back to theaters next month...in monochrome: At least in Japan, no word yet if this version will also be shown in the US. Found more info: "We are now able to announce Godzilla-1.0/C, which we have been working on for a long time. Rather than just making it monochrome, it is a cut by cut, I had them make adjustments while making full use of various mattes, as if they were creating a new movie. What I was aiming for was a style that looked like it was taken by masters of monochrome photography. We were able to unearth the texture of the skin and the details of the scenery that were hidden in the photographed data. Then, a frightening Godzilla, just like the one in the documentary, appeared. By eliminating color, a new sense of reality emerges. Please live and resist further fear at the theater." - Takashi Yamazaki
