Yeah, this game is basically a Diablo clone (without all the mouse clicks) with a Lodoss War setting. The story is totally separate from any of the events in the anime, but it does add some interesting background info. If you dig Lodoss War and Diablo, this game is definitely worth a look.

Comparing Aero Elite vs. Ace Combat is like comparing apples and oranges. Aero Elite is the closest you'll get to a flight sim on any console. While not as meticulous as any top grade PC flight sim, it features a lot more realism than in all the Ace Combat games combined. Training missions in AE may seem mundane, like performing a successful barrel roll, loop, etc., but it does pay off after playing a lot of AC (where flight physics just go out the window). Graphics-wise, Sega's AM2 division did a bang up job with the plane models (I think they were even assisted by the JSDF), but Namco's renditions are just a tad better. However, AE does allow you to pilot helicopters and Harriers, something the AC series has yet to feature. AC, on the other hand, gives you really pretty planes with a truckload of missles and bombs to blow crap up. You can't go wrong with that (ignore Lethal Skies, Top Gun, etc.). Anyhoo, they're both fun games, just on different levels.

King Of Fighters: Maximum Impact
Valkyrie Hunter D replied to Gaijin's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
The new characters look generic and bland. I haven't played any of the polygonal fighters based on SNK games, but from my experience of the Street Fighter EX games, I can say that I don't have high hopes for this title. -
I think it's your best custom so far, Devin. Love the fast packs on this one.
-
Just one choice for me: Sazabi! The Nu would be cool too.

A-6 Intruders still active in 2010? Sweeeeet!

Aside from being a centuries old ghost?

Kawamori must've still had Armored Core on his mind when drawing up that Mac 0 Destroid.

BTW, in the new INNOCENCE book is the main picture of the Macross cast that overlaps the entire back of the Mikimoto box. Unfortunately, I don't have the necessary hardware to provide a high-res scan. Perhaps someone who does can track down a copy of this book? In the meantime, I'll try to get a scan myself from some other source (Kinko's maybe?).
-
Aw man, I've already put in my order for a Mikimoto version box. This should still go through, right? I hope the minimal participation won't delay or even undermine the Mac+ box.

what's mikimoto been up to lately.
Valkyrie Hunter D replied to zeus the zentran's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
The Macross pictures from Innocence are not in my older Mikimoto books. They seem to be illustrations from magazine covers, video game ads/cases and CD covers. -
From that screenshot alone, does it say "SEXY" ?
-
Hidden sex messages in Macross?! Just more evidence of Disney ripping off ideas from anime .

Dagnabit! Y'know, considering the nature of the show, I don't want to speculate any further as to what a "Sparkling" attack might consist of.
-
If this is the same show you reviewed a while back, my guess is nosehair.

How many years have you been posting here?
Valkyrie Hunter D replied to Skull 0ne's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I think just a little over two years. I still remember Joke Machine helping me out with my JM (thanks again!). Before I posted, I just cruised the toy and magazine sections without even knowing about the forums until I "clicked on the fish". Now caught in a deluge of kits, toys, and books that I don't have time for, I ask myself: "Why, oh why did I click on that fish?" DAMN YOU CURSED FISH HEAD! AAAAAAAAArgh! -

Title: INNOCENCE Copyright: 2003 Size: 13.5 x 10.25 x 0.5 in Pages: 120 Cover Price: ¥3400 ISBN: 4-04-853663-X On a whim, I picked up my copy of INNOCENCE from San Jose's anime mainstay, Nikaku Animart, for $46. Calling it a book would be kind of a stretch since there's hardly any text at all. Covering works from 1994 through 2003, INNOCENCE is a collection of over 180 illustrations by the perennial anime artist, Haruhiko Mikimoto. The bulk of the book consists of beautifully illustrated pictures of young girls and Mikimoto's mastery of watercolors and pastels shows in each one. Familiar faces from Gundam, Gunbuster, Orguss, and the Record of Lodoss War can be found (Deedlit by Mikimoto is really nice). The Macross section is relatively big with some rarely seen drawings. By comparing older drawings of Minmay from his older books to the ones found in INNOCENCE, one can really see how much Mikimoto's renditions have changed, yet still retain the same style. The theme of innocence rings true through the whole collection, there's nothing really racy or ecchi about this book making it great for any coffee table. If you want to see why Haruhiko Mikimoto has remained such a big name within the anime industry, be sure to pick this book up when hits comic book shops this spring. Page sample:

The pic you saw may have used the old HCM valks as a reference. HCMs have one hook that swings out from each rear wheel bay. Back on subject, that VF-0 doesn't look half bad! Which technique did you use for the panel lines, Ancalagon?

WHEEEE! Samurai Jack on DVD!
Valkyrie Hunter D replied to GreatMoose's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
13 eps for $30 isn't a bad price at all, but there's something about this show that puts me to sleep everytime. The repetitive sequences, the repeated sound effects and the pauses just add up to a big snore fest for me. BTW, if you want to check a far grittier version of this story, track down an old trade of Frank Miller's RONIN. Classic Miller stuff. -
It looking real slick so far, fulcy. Ever consider going full bore into a 1/48 GPB set?
-
I've been thinking of giving a valk the classic 1960's "Wild Weasel" look. I've got a lot of kit parts that I need to find a use for. Now if I can only find the time...
