ok. thanks guys. Do you have any advice on how i can prove to ebay that they're bootleg? My girlfriend payed 90 dollars plus shipping for them and i kind of want to get the money back without having to worry about shipping them back to thailand. I'm honestly not sure how to tell myself, they just seem bootleg. Could it be possible that they are actually the Japanese release?

hey guys i got this set of harlock dvds. Does anyone have them and can compare them to the new discotek release of the show? It was pretty expensive and i want to know if i should return it (it was a gift).

yeah the gloss is ok. I only used it on the details and it ended up looking pretty nice. My problem now is trying to figure out how to keep the head from falling forward when its in battroid mode. the slightest movement sends it off balance. I guess its alot more front heavy than the standard head.

im so bitter i missed the glory days.

yeah its a custom head. exo said they were produced 10 years ago. Its wierd cause i feel like the head is at the right height but the neck is to skinny or something. i think im gonna customize the standard head and just resculpt the entire bottom half including the neck.

My new idea to clear coat it is to use that Future Floor polish stuff. Any one think that would be good for something im going to handle a lot?

thanks big f. Yeah ive decided i dont really want to panel line or weather/shade this because i dont really want to have to clear coat the whole toy. I really like the look of raw plastic. Just curious though, what do you think of the neck? It seems too long to me but i can't tell if thats because im used to seeing the standard head on there. well heres my custom. Its not really done so the head is just kind of placed on there. still gotta top coat it and connect everything more permanently.

no problems exo. I was just slightly concerned by what mechtech said. Im usually pretty cautious with this kind of stuff. But yeah the pieces are fine so im sure they will stay fine.

So i would only be able to see this in the clear coat and not the paint/primer? also, does this chemical bleeding continue even if the resin pieces are old? im pretty sure these pieces are fairly old. exo might know how old they are.

so i cant use the testors spray laquer on this piece?

Ive been working on my first custom toy project without any advice so far but im at the point of finishing it so i want this last step to go smoothly. Ill start by describing my process so far. Im working on a resin 1/55 scale vf 1s head. I first primed it with tamiya fine surface primer. I really like the finish it produced so i decided not to paint white on top of it. For the details like the lazers and visor, i used some basic acrylic paints. The model is ready for a clear coat. I have a can of testors spray laquer clear coat. questions: Is this the right stuff to use over the raw primer and acrylic paint? How long does it take to cure before i can handle it? Will this yellow more or less than just leaving the primer and paints unfinished? Will this clear coat be more durable than the raw primer and paint? let me add that ive never painted a model before so im completely lost when it comes to clear coats and what they do. edited again: forgot to say that durability is a big concern as i will still be handling and transforming the toy.

Has anyone ever done a mod to make a more solid fighter mode? after messing around with the toy for the first time, my one complaint is that the fighter mode is kinda floppy and loose. I had an idea of using magnets inside the legs and on the body of the jet. i havent really thought it through completely as i dont normally do this kind of thing.

i bought myself my first macross toy. A bandai 1/55 vf 1s super. waiting for christmas to open it up of course. Ive never bought such an expensive toy so im super excited.

these modifications are great. im new to macross toys and even as someone thats not affected by nostalgia, i think the 1/55 is one of the coolest toys ive seen. i just bought my first one off ebay the other day. a 2002 super vf 1s. I need one of those custom heads though. Do any of you have any vf 1s heads or know where i can get one?
