questions about Macross DYRL and Zero
the white drew carey replied to sidearmsalpha's topic in Movies and TV Series
Uh. . . I'm pretty sure you know this. . . but Star Trek has been around since 1967. And, the concept of the "preserver" civilization that went around seeding the galaxy with humanoids was conceptualized long before Macross hit the airwaves nearly two decades later. H I don't think that concept was ever explored in the original series (although I could be wrong). I think what he's referring to is the Star Trek: TNG episode where they find out each race, Ferengi, Romulan, Klingon and Human has a certain peice of a genetic puzzle that, when combined with the others, maps out something or other and let's them all know that they were 'seeded' by an ancient civilization millions and millions of years ago. So, pretty much, every race are kissin' cousins. -

I didn't have to think about it. I always did, and still do, believe that HG does own the rights to distribute the Macross TV series in the U.S. (just nothing else Macross, though). 1stBRD- Could you cite a source or something which suggests that HG split the remastering costs with AnimeIgo? I was under the impression that AnimeIgo paid for the remastering of Macross out of their own pockets, with no support from HG. But I could be wrong. I can't remember who or what gave me that idea... maybe it was the SDCC or AX? Now that's gonna bug me all day!!!

Macro Space Ship Island? I wanted to move there once, but the property taxes were killer. sidearmsalpha- The problem here is that you're confusing the RT storyline with the original Macross storyline. Although the basic gist of the first Macross series and Robotech: The Macross Saga is similar, HG/Macek made many notable changes that sent RT into a different direction after The Macross Saga. As Azrael pointed out, those two links are your best bet for complete understanding of Macross and the differences between it and the RT-version. Enjoy, and good luck. -

This is fun!!! It also makes good Photoshop practice! -
I don't like the proportions on the Kubricks (or for that matter, I-men). The longs body looks so goofy it ruins the cute factor.

AFAIK- There's been no word on the who's remastered the RT version. It all comes down to whether or not: 1) Provisions were made with AnimeIgo beforehand that allows HG to use their remastered footage, with or without proper compensation, or 2) HG/ADV went to AnimeIgo afterwards and requested to use the remastered footage. Does anyone know more? Either way, it'll still suck.

What Topics are allowed and not on MW
the white drew carey replied to Jemstone's topic in MW Site News & Member Feedback
The Rainbow Brite topic should've stayed open. This is a prime example of a Mod locking a topic more through personal whim than adherence to MW's rules. Although Rainbow Brite is lame, that's only my opinion. One I think that Mod Roy also shares. But I also agree that it fell bullseye in to rules for the forum, and that there was no "wiggle" space for Roy to justify the locking of the thread. It was simply shut down due to his dislike for Rainbow Brite. -

THE UN-OFFICIAL COLOR SCHEME THREAD
the white drew carey replied to the white drew carey's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Well, I've fiddled around with it. Right or wrong, I moved the leg into something that looks more "correct" to me. I've also added in some little details that were missing. This is what I've done so far, this includes weathering, shading and most of the "decals". I'm still deciding on what I want to do with pilot, cockpit and canopy- but that's not vitally important. I'll probably also refine the shading on my template as things go along. But basically, all I have to do now is throw on a multiply layer and add colors. Yee-haw. I should have my first color scheme with this new stup done soon. -

Hmmm... is it me, or is the slight downward angle of the lower leg wrong in that picture. I always thought it was straight back. -

Good Lord, that is wrong! "What do you plan to do!?!" "BLIND THEM TO DEATH!!!" -
I don't know much about 3D imaging, but low-polys or not, that looks great. The textures more than make up for the basic model!!! One suggestion, and this is personal opinion: Less "scorch marks" around the vernier thrusters. I think it's a little too much. But overall I want you to keep posting your updates. It looks damned nifty.

I thought you made a spacecraft out of wood...

Neova- I think the point Graham is trying to get across is that there is a lot more to MacrossWorld than just the forums.

Anita Mui Passes away

That's a shame. I really liked her work. -
I guess I completely missed the vibe. But I'd have to disagree with you that cinematography is for wannabe Spielberg's. Anyone can make Road to Perdition work because it inherently is not a visual movie. But "fight" films are. They need to utilized skilled cinematography in order to make the fight scenes look good. SSS doesn't do this. Comparing this to Evil Dead or Pitch Black is, IMHO, wrong. Evil Dead carries Sam Raimi's quirky style of film-making. That, along with a suitably cheesy script and an actor who's delivery is almost as memorable as the lines themselves, set Evil Dead (including 2 [or 1.2] and Army of Darkness) apart from other 'B' movies. Pitch Black takes the standard 'B' movie formula and puts it into a big budget film, where, once again, it's the visuals which set it apart from other 'B' movies. But, like I said, to each his own. I still love you, Blaine23.
