Full Armored VF-0S Color Pictures
the white drew carey replied to Graham's topic in Movies and TV Series
The arms are so skinny it looks like a skelington with armor all on. I've got two words for that armored VF-0s: Rope-A-Dope. That's pretty darn nifty. I can't wait to see it in action. -
What's this?!? Whats this?!?! I can't believe my eyes!!! I'd have to agree with Dangard on both counts. it's a Super Robot Wars game, and Abombz will undoubtedly be able to tell you which.
-
If you ever get to play with it... I bet you can chose what type of FAST packs to carry. That would be nifty. While a strike cannon is always sweet, nothing can beat the sure onslaught of missiles Macross-style. What would be REALLY cool would be a fully customizable paintscheme and logos ala' Armored Core.
-
I've got two words for you: GBP Armor!!! (link) I don't think those two guys are your squad-mates. IIRC, the patch on the left breast indicates which squadron the pilot flies in. Both of those guys have different patches (one's a longhorn and the other is something I don't recognize).

Guess who might direct the new Superman Movie....
the white drew carey replied to Ladic's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I hope your joking. Superman IS the original. Geez... Really? What about Achilles for one....or Odysseus(or however you spell it) Geez I was assuming we were talking about modern superheroes here. Although Odysseus is no where near a superhero. He's more realistic in that he's just a really clever cookie. If using mythology as a basis, then, yes- Superman is not the original. -

That would explain the flying pigs I saw this morning. Good grief... -
And I can't seem to find it. I have an idea for thread for custom paint schemes... but using a particular theme. Of course, I want to create a visual sample before letting the kids run wild. But trust me, I think everyone will like the idea and really hop on the bandwagon. So, if someone has, or can direct me to, the VF-1 lineart we were using before, please let me know. Thanks.

Vertitechs for each macross series..
the white drew carey replied to rewooh's topic in Movies and TV Series
Valkyries... Valkyries... This should've gone into the Newbie Questions thread pinned at the top, but I'll direct you to the perfect resource to find all the info you'll need: MAHQ.net's Macross Mecha resource -
I'm in State College, PA and, apparently, Isabel is heading right for me. Lucky me, though, that I have all these mountains in the way to weaken it before it gets here... unlike you guys on the coast.

LOL!!! I was going to make a joke to Graham about how off-topic posting is wrong (unless there was an o/t post thread...wink, wink), but after watching that I laughed my ass off for two minutes straight and then e-mailed the link to the video to every airplane enthusiast I know. That's just funny!!!

what obsessions besides macross do u guys have?
the white drew carey replied to kanata67's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Reading... Mostly Terry Pratchett, Robert Jordan, Tad Williams and (yes) Tom Clancy. Video Games. I usually get sucked into one and spend every available moment on it. Drinking. Beer. Good. Women who aren't my wife. (just kidding) My wife. -
Robotech and HG license debates
the white drew carey replied to Roy Focker's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
JustVinnie portrays a strong possibility. IF HG did someone get their name on Trash, and BigWest knew about it and let it slide, that would open up a whole avenue of defense for HG if and when BigWest ever jumps the pond and legally challenges HG in the courts. -

Could you please point me to this evidence? Besides TokyoPop's press release and Effect's online chat, the only thing I've ever heard is when you stated you asked Alan Letz if HG's name would be on it and you stated that he said: "Yes." To my knowledge, there has not been any official confirmation from HG that they're name would be on it. -

Any Front Mission fans?
the white drew carey replied to yellowlightman's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Yeah, FM3 was released in the U.S. I think it's possibly the best Mech strategy game I've ever played. Plus, the upgradability of your Wanzer is so neat-0!!! -

p.s.- I wrote an e-mail to TokyoPop asking what's up with Macross 7 Trash not being on their site anymore. I will post any response I get here when (and if) it arrives. -

Well accepting by you. But not by me. No offense, Wrylac, but the only evidence we have that HG has given it's permission is through your own words when you related the discussion you had with Alan Letz (was it him) at the convention. The other story is from someone else who asked on the rt.com boards if HG was involved and the answer was a simple "we are cooperating." The only other evidence is TokyoPop's press release which was simply copied, word for word, on rt.com and not once, in actuality mentioned a direct business association between TokyoPop and HG. The problem with this is the fact that HG has constantly claimed to own all of the rights. If they start paying BigWest them that's essentially saying that they were either A.) Wrong, or B.) Lying through their teeth. HG doesn't want to pay to use merchandise for the Japanese market because that would cut into their profits. They're more than happy to say that they own all of the rights and then have Toynami pay them a licensing fee to produce toys. Also, at this time, with the popularity of Anime and Manga, it would make more sense for BigWest to work with a company with whom they have a good relationship and also has a secure operation set up here in the states, companies like Bandai or Yamato. I would think that if I were Bigwest (which I'm not), I'd rather want to work with them than with a company who is trying to usurp a franchise which I believe is mine and mine alone to deal with. -

OK- here's the problem with this whole Macross 7 Trash thing: 1) BigWest, being a business and all, will expect to be paid a licensing fee for Macross 7 Trash. 2) HG has clearly stated, over and over, that they own the international rights (outside of Japan) to Macross and that's that. Now, I highly doubt that BigWest will just give away the Trash license, and I sincerely doubt that HG will actually pay for it. If HG does pay for it, that could be seen as an admission that they were lying about owning all of the rights because no company in their right mind would pay for something they already legally own. This goes for all Macross-related merchandise as well. 1st BRD- Maybe they didn't sell well because no one wanted to pay an exhorbant amount of money for what was, essentially, the same crappy Super-Poseable. AnimeIgo's release of the TV Series sold extremely well. One would think that it sold well enough that HG would consider releasing other Macross titles. You know, because they DO happen to own the rights to all of them, after all. -

I think the screen shots mught just look bad because of the pictures themselves. Regardless, I'd play this game even if the graphics were just like FM3 for PS1, because that game was sooo much damned fun!!! Here's a little fun with the screenshots and stuff: -
So...*nobody* bought F-Zero GX?
the white drew carey replied to isamu's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I've been thoroughly disappointed by all of the F-Zero games and this one is no exception. And the character designs? Blah. -
Not really, but here's a rough and dirty sketch I did whilst watching 3 consecutive episodes of Law & Order: SVU repeats. It's supposed to be Millia and her VF-1J. I was going to color it, but I decided not to... Oh well.

the white drew carey replied to Roy Focker's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Ummm... I may be an idiot, but it seems to me that all info regarding Macross 7 Trash (including the press release) is gone from TokyoPop's site. I did a search with their in-site engine and Macross only came up when they mention another Kawamori project. Has Macross 7 Trash been sidelined? -

That second article was written by ANN themselves and was not from a "serious" news source. It is basically the compilation of the speculative arguments that were presented on the old message board when the news was released. Hah! Things that don't say what you want them to aren't considered "serious" news sources. Secondly, I don't think ANN would report speculation from a fan board as news. I think before you make any claims such as that you should e-mail them and ask them directly whether or not that is the case. Other than that, it's simply a baseless accusation.
