  1. One possible reason there's no armor around the pilot is because metal is at a premium and is mostly used to A- Keep Zion's machinery running, and B- Keep the hovercraft (Zion's true defense) in working order. These mecha are possibly Zion's last line of defense. It looks like they were once armored, but it's all been stripped off. Another reason could be because it looks all grungy and stuff... like the makeshift cars in Mad Max.
  2. Once again... The YF-1R IS a derivative. The details of the head of the YF-1R are much different than the animation error. The animation error is simply a VF-1A with two extra lasers coming from the side, ala' VF-1J. Whereas the YF-1R does keep that feature, it also sports a hexagonal faceplate, a "chin" of sorts and small vents on each side of the chin. 'The animation error had nothing of the sort, hence, the YF-1R is a derivative.
  3. Ummm... Macross II has been dubbed in English...
  4. Well... not entirely true. In Sentinels, anything that was carried over from Macross (mainly the characters) had to be redesigned "in-house" by Tatsunoko, since they don't have the rights to any of the designs. I don't think anyone involved with the designs for Macross were involved with Sentinels. The same people being involved with the animation, yes. But not the designs.
  5. I was going to PM Yellowlightman about this, but since it's in the open... ...I completely agree. Yellowlightman created this great site to post fan creations, not to post pics of your automobile. Next thing you know someone will be posting the results of their colonoscopy.
  6. UN Spacy- Some people have recommended a Slide Card. We yapped about it a bit somewhere earlier in the thread.
  7. Have you tried submitting your work to Starship Modeler? Every week or so they have a recent submissions section which is very popular. After that the stuff is put into it's relevent gallery for a certain period of time. It's a nice site because you can submit lots of pictures showing off your expertise and detail, and even talk about what you did with the kit. They also take kit preview, review and build-up submissions (but without the guarantee of publication), especially if it's for a kit that hasn't been previewed or reviewed before. I highly recommend you check out the site and peruse around to see what you think. Good luck, I hope to see some of your kits there shortly!!!
  8. I was actually being nice. I could've jumped on Terry for being late because this is the third time the new MPC YF-1R has been posted about outside of the dedicated MPC thread... One of the other posts was still visible on page one of Other Anime and Sci-Fi when Terry posted this one. I'm not trying to be "The Cool Guy" (because lord knows I'm not), but I was simply trying to be psychic by answering the possible question Terry might ask when and if he finds his thread locked.
  9. Just because other valks aren't shown so far doesn't mean that they're not in the game. We'll just have to wait and see.
  10. This is already being discussed in the Official MPC thread. No offense, Terry. But I think a Mod is going to lock this once it's noticed.
  11. Great job!!! The only thing I don't care for are the all of the dings and dents in the metal (especially on the leg armor). That's something a lot of 3D artists like to put on their work and I think it looks very weak.
  12. Yeah, I noticed that roll, too!!! That was pretty neat-o! The quality of the pics above is NOT indicative of the quality of the game itself. It's just the quality of the download. In motion everything looks a hundred times better!
  13. Paste the link into your browser and it should be ok. It's about 25 megs. And WDC, I did change the Ruliweb video's extension file name...for some reason, when it trys to unstuff, it says the file is damaged...I tried downloading it 3 times before. But that globetown video was enough for me...The VF-0, SV-51, YF-19, and YF-21 never looked so good! I am guessing that you can unlock them as you fifnish the game and replay them with those. I also noticed in that video that the Macross had ARMD-1's instead of the Daedalus and Prometheus in some shots. I especially liked the Battroid being able to "roll" on the ground like in the opening of the TV show. OK, that works! Thanks for the link!!! There's a lot of cool cinematics shown. This game looks so kick ass!!!
  14. I click the link and it says forbidden. Gaijin- On the ruliweb video... did you change the file extension from .zip to .mpeg?
  15. Disney's already got the rights to it, and popular opinion seems to be that they will release it sometime. But probably not before they've released some of the newer Miyazaki projects. I've got the Nausicaa comics boxset as well. It is awesome, and wonderfully drawn.
  16. Soundtracks? I've got a special place in my heart for the soundtrack to Hunt For Red October by Basil Poledouris. I also dig most of John Williams' work. As well as Danny Elfman's stuff for Edward Scissorhands. Classical? I've always enjoyed it, but it wasn't until recently that I started purchasing works instead of catching them on the radio. When my wife and I got together we ended up having 5 different performances of The Magic Flute between us!!!
  17. But everyone knows of Volvo's excellent safety record!!!
  18. Ahhh... Another Wedding Present fan. It's so good to know others like exist. Galaxie 500, eh? My roommate bought the box set in 1997. After he moved out I was so sad... I was thinking of it the other day and thought of picking it up if A- I could find it, and B- Once I get a job. Do you listen to Luna at all? Yeah, being from Chicago, Naked Raygun would play a sold out show about every 3 months and all the punk kids from the Chicago area would be there. I had friends for 5 years that I ONLY ever saw at Raygun shows. Everytime they'd play they'd have a couple hundred "promotional products" made up with their logo on it. One time it was Naked Raygun plastic water bottles (with insulator). Another time it was Naked Raygun inflatable planes. The best was on a Mother's Day show and they had Naked Raygun rubber lid grippers. Anyways, halfway through the show everyone would start chanting "Free crap" and the band would start throwing a couple hundred of these things into the crowd. It was the best!!! Did I mention I was an extra in an MU330 video? They were filming the video for Father Friendly (off of the Crab Rangoon album) in Madison And I got to be in the crowd at the church. It was funny because the drummer for Blue Meanies set it up and he was my buddy, so we were all out drinking the night before and I ended up drinking right up until 7am I showed up literally drunk off of my ass!!! Well, The Vandals have been playing under their current incarnation since around 1988-89... So it's not THAT bad. Here's a picture of me (I'm the drunk one in the middle making the face and flashing the devil horns) and The Vandals after their show at The Cog Factory in Omaha, NE. Don't ask me why I was in Omaha, NE!!! After the picture we went across the street and had some drinks.
  19. You know what would be REALLY awesome? If there were "special moves" you could do in Battroid mode, like fly up to a Regult, switch to Battroid and then do a move like Max in DYRL: Pull the Zentradi from the Regult and then blow his head off. That would be nifty...
  20. Two things I did for the Gerbera Tetra: 1) Sprayed a modelling dull-coat onto the red parts to avoid staining. 2) Super-glued all loose parts into place. Since I wanted to display the Gerbera Tetra and not the GP-04, I had no problems taking this rash action. Just an idea to keep in mind.
  21. Did I forget to mention DK? Well, make that two other guys!!! If you're a bit of a closet punker, and like Ska, you might want to check out Slapstick (if you haven't already). They were, what I consider, one of the first Punk/Ska (instead of Ska/Punk, ala' Less Than Jake, MU330, etc.) bands. They were only around for 3 years but they were awesome. You can check out a very comprehensive fansite HERE. I may be biased because they were my buddies, but they were pretty damned good. p.s.- Funny side note, the lead singer of Slapstick, Brendan (who now plays for The Lawrence Arms) once told me that his first concert memory was being at a Naked Raygun show when he was 12 or 13 and seeing me setting my hair on fire for money. ... Those were the days. p.p.s.- Did I mention Naked raygun as one of my all-time favorite bands? No? Well Naked Raygun is one of my all-time favorite bands.
  22. I listen to the whole gamut of music, from classical to punk. I'll listen to techno dance (mostly European, U.S. DJ's usually can't cut it) all the way to some of the crappiest glam-metal from the 80's. But mostly I listen to punk, emo-core and soft-core punk. Here's a sampling: Lagwagon Chixdiggit! Adventures of Jet NOFX Texas is the Reason (RIP) Consumed (RIP) The Lawrence Arms Slapstick (RIP) Millencolin Scott Garth Seaweed Superchunk The Wedding Present (RIP) Snuff Gwar Old Metallica (RIP) Me First and the Gimme Gimmes Bad Astronaut Drag the River All Sugarcult Sugar/Bob Mould/Husker Du The Living End The Pixies (RIP) No Use For A Name Strung Out Homegrown The Levellers ...and many, many others.
  23. I'll wait for the Disney release. Personally, I don't particularly care for Disney. But I think they've done a fantastic job with Mayazaki's movies so far. As long as there's a sub track along with the so-so dub, I'm a happy man!
  24. Forgot to mention- It looks like the whole bridge crew is here: Global, Misa, Claudia, Vanessa, Kim, Shammy and Emma. Roy shows up as well. I couldn't tell if it's the same voice actors because I had to have the volume down... the wife is sleeping on the couch. Awww...
  25. Oh my good lord!!! drool... This game looks like it could be THE best Macross, if not best mecha shooter ever!!! I tried to get screengrabs but the paused shots are too blurry to be any good. I think it might be intentional because when it's running it looks absolutely and irrevocably amazing. Battlecry what? I'd bet that RT fans and people that haven't even heard of Macross will be clamouring for this one. (from what I've seen) PROS -The lighting effects are awesome. The valk and the SDF-1 look simply amazing. -Detail (same as above) -Transformation. It's quick and fluid. Really neat. -The valk itself look spiffy. All of the verniers work, the wing tips, the Fastpacks. Everything. The thrust vectoring for the main engines on the legs is also pretty cool. -The shells from the gun are pretty cool as well. CONS -This game features the illusion of flight in space ala' the famous WING COMMANDER flying debris feature. I hated it then and I hate it now. I hope one can turn it off. -When your valk transforms the wings fold in even though the missiles are still mounted on the hard points. It would've been cool if they stayed out.
