* start of rant * The thing I dislike most in Mac-F is that in almost every battle, there will be a songstress singing in the background, to the point that it becomes too cliche. Im hoping more like a DYRL style. We all know song is an integral part of Macross, in fact its more of an orchestra of Action, Mecha and Songs, than just a regular anime..and DYRL hit the spot balancing all three elements. I was literally thinking if there is a minus-one version of Mac-F while watching it. Tried skipping the songs, but then I'd be skipping all the fighting scenes too. No offense to the fans, but to me Mac-F is a songstress-song spam. I mean, you can play the songstress songs in concert or non-battle scenes, but not in every damn battle. Instead, use action music in fight scenes and play the songstress song appropriately, like Minmay's song in the last DYRL battle. The storyline need improvements. Mac-F felt like it caters to young viewers, but the loyalist club members (read : not many) are in their 20's-30's-40's who watched Macross/Robo-toot in the 80's. Maybe they're trying to attract more young viewers into the franchise, since its hard to convince adults to watch cartoons, no matter how realistic it can be depicted. Valks design is the only thing I could say good things about the show. * end of rant * so, here's to less songs, more actions and better storyline. oh and good valks Cheers!

Thinking of ordering one for the battroid and isamu figure...the old figure was just too fat. Cant be fitted into other valks of the same scale (even the vf-1). Too much fast food at Edwards base?

Guess it must be the co-pilot seat.

Man that thing looks damn good. Not a fan of white-ish valks, but may consider this with the amount of black parts/areas on the plane..

Hi MW-ers, Maybe this has been discussed before; tried looking for paint stripping method online and on the board but could not find one specifically for Bandai's Joke Machine. So far Ive only found the following soaking methods : 1) Detergent/Industrial Cleaners (Pine Sol / Dettol / Simple Green / Purple Power) 2) Brake Fluid 3) Isopropyl Alcohol 91% Ive disassembled the JM parts and soaked it in Pine Sol for a week, but seems like its not strong enough to strip the paint. Tried brushing the paint off using a toothbrush after soaking it for a week, but somehow the paint was really hard to come off and some smeared on neighboring areas. Maybe the paint used on the JM is not suitable to be removed with Pine Sol? Ive seen many JM custom before, so I was wondering if any customizer could share a method to strip the paint off a Bandai/Matchbox Joke Machine specifically? Or there is no way/very tough to strip it and therefore, Im left with priming/painting over the old paint? Thanks in advanced!

Pls dont be offended by my reply. Its just not feasible to go my "route" now. Else, there wouldnt be any reason not to share.

Got one for $70 shipped brand new. Decent price for my first plunge into the v2 1/60 VF-1 line. Not particularly interested in the paint scheme, but for a trouble-free valk and to support Arcadia's 1st release, I dont see why not. though buying below MSRP may not be the best way to support a business...

after owning the 25F (sold it) Im now a believer that bandai does deliver a high quality product with the 25 renewals. Prolly getting the 25A and Ozma Lee 29 to represent the 25-ish valks in my collection. Cant wait to see the 30 prophecy, but maybe will wait until they release a better paint scheme. Not a fan of the white/alto/bright valks.

I asked the same question before, kurisama was planning to work on the parts but later decided not to pursue it (forgot why). nobody else picked it up later. could be because the thin profile of the triangle made it not feasible for shapeway parts tolerance, unless buyers are willing to sand down the parts to make them fit. That gave me enough reason to avoid the toy. Too bad, the paint scheme looks really good in both fighter and battroid, but had to be avoided due to poor plastic quality. Been thinking to get alto's, but the paint scheme just doesnt do it for me. If my memory serves me right, Yamato's 0A exploding arms & VF-1 shoulders were the worst prevalent QC that had ever happened in post-diecast Macross toys, but seems like even those pale in comparison to Bandai's exploding triangles, seeing how frequent the triangles been breaking on this toy. And no news of a re-release.. -sigh-
